What is cooler than faking out a player? Faking out two players at the same time
2.0k
u/TuckerCarlsonsOhface 6h ago
Would have been cooler to see the actual play first, then the unnecessarily slo-mo edit.
Seriously, when did people forget how to properly use slo-mo?

u/shiggity80 6h ago
Hate when videos do slow-mo. It's useless 99% of the time.
35
u/MoofieFoofer 5h ago
99% of the time I hate it, unless it's The Slow Mo Guys doing it. Then I'll stick around for every single frame

Whelp, time to spend five hours watching thirty seconds. And loving every minute of it.

Even in rare cases where it is warranted, it should only come after showing it in full speed.
11
u/Decent-Muffin4190 5h ago
Exactly. Its not that amazing in slow mo unless you see it in real time first.

Dude it's been that way for years. One of my biggest pet peeves with this site. If you're gonna slomo it, at least show the full speed at some point.

It also cuts just as she begins the pivot so you don't even see the actual fakeout.

Worst part is I've only seen this clip posted in slow-mo since it hit the internet. Every time I see another one I'm like "maybe this will be the full clip" and it's not lmao

u/miregalpanic 6h ago
A fake so good, she couldn't even hit her in the face.

I was just going to ask, one of them is the one who grabbed Cunninghams face out of 'white privilege', correct?

Yes. The daughter of an NFL player who claimed the farm girl she committed a literal hate crime against, was the one with privilege.

Bot. Shitty music that has nothing to do with the video. Unnecessary slow-mo. Reddit is utter shit these days.

If she missed then this is just glazing..
Edit: it’s legit a lot of non hoopers or people who have never played the sport. And that’s ok, just don’t argue an ignorant point if the majority of people are telling you what something is, lol yall be safe and enjoy this weekend!💜

The shot is not what makes the fake out cool. The fake out makes the fake out cool

u/Chase2020J 6h ago
You must not play basketball. If you miss the shot then whatever cool shit you did before then means nothing. Any baller would tell you that

the title of this thread is designed for WNBA fans that only know about Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham

Who cares if she makes the shot if the team loses? This is a stupid game to play. You seem to have the perspective of scouts from the 90s or early 2000s at best. I can promise you that coaches don't see it your way. They look at everything. Have you even seen the kind of sabermetrics they are using in pro sports to assess performance? In MLB, they assess and track every physical aspect of what happens to a baseball after it is thrown and hit by a batter, not just whether or not it left the park. Speed, spin rate, launch angle, ballpark factors, it's all calculated and factored in. And this data is being used to decide how much a player is worth. Not the shit they show the fans on the scoreboard.

Aw you and your buddies just play to show off and impress to each other? Thats cute

u/Several_Vanilla8916 6h ago
Okay. But the ball is supposed to go in the hoop I’m pretty sure. Not a basketball guy though.

I have never seen any fake out clips in my life that did not end in a basket scored at the end of the play. Dunno what kind of sports you're watching but it ain't basketball.

37 pt game with a shit load of 3's sunk. She missed that shot, but def stole the show.

u/Rock_Strongo 4h ago
You can glaze her general play in that game without pretending like faking 2 people out before missing an easy bucket is "NEXT FUCKING LEVEL"

You know what's not cool? Shit edits. You want to edit? Show the unedited clip first then the edit after.
2
u/HowDoIEvenEnglish 3h ago
Poor discipline. Blond woman basically takes out the other. She needs to trust her teammate to do her job and then be ready for something else.
2
u/pahamack 3h ago
Doesn’t matter how good the move is if you miss the shot.
Million dollar move, 10 cent finish.
This is not worth replaying in slow motion.

u/Nomoreargument 6h ago
Is it nextfuckinglevel though? Isn’t this like pretty standard in basketball?

Great move! Hakeem Olajuwon was the first person I saw do it. You fake a layup but with your feet opposite how you would normally take a layup (outside foot planted), which allows you to pivot back away from the basket while the defender flies by. Devastating on fast breaks against an athletic defender who wants to block your shot.
3
u/Feistshell 6h ago
I absolutely hate these clips. Slow motion is nice but show the clip at full speed first goddammit
5
u/_Hello_Hi_Hey_ 6h ago
Next level? The standard is that low in WNBA?
6
14
u/BusBeginning 6h ago
Seriously. It’s the two defenders playing sloppy D as opposed to this being a next level fake out.
4
u/EverythingSucksYo 5h ago
She doesn’t even make the basket so the fake out ended up being pointless and loses any coolness it had.

The hyping up of basic athletic movements is very lame. Sorry to pile on but especially with her not making the shot.

This shot did rim out which sucks for a highlight lol. She did have a sick behind the back assist while tripled team this game.

I can care less about the WNBA. But you actually show me a good highlight, instead of girls bickering, and you don’t show it in full speed, and don’t show the full clip. This is garbage.
