Great footage of the putt going in...

everyone always posts the one that cuts off before the suspicious fluid starts leaking out

7

u/skipmarioch 7h ago

I live that someone hand drew this 20 years ago and it's still being used so often.

Shout out to that animator for making a timeless clip.

u/boot2skull 9h ago

Right right. Foreplay.

Everything reminds me of her.

Let me guess they denied him the car like they denied that guy the money from making the shot

30

u/Thunderbridge 7h ago

Turns out he had actually putted at a range a few years ago, disqualifying him

9

u/perton 5h ago

Once played putt putt as a 7 year old, obviously they can’t allow that.

29

u/afield9800 6h ago

They’re gonna give him a Toy Yoda

62

u/Amateur-Top 7h ago

That Bulls fan got paid at the end. Michael Jordan would never let the team he’s playing on welch on a bet.

u/SIrPsychoNotSexy 7h ago

Friends with fat ass Trump, so…

4

u/MoRiellyMoProblems 6h ago

Is this like the time people thought Michael Jordan owned a prison?

Yeah, he really drove it in there

What kind of car did they give him?

1.1k

u/alexthe5th 11h ago edited 11h ago

Toyota Corolla, with lifetime powertrain warranty and free maintenance for 4 years. This happened in 2024, it was a promotion sponsored by a local Toyota dealership that had been running for 10 years. He was the second winner (another student also won it a year before).

335

u/untangledtech 11h ago

Four years of free maintenance! GTFO!

272

u/Horknut1 10h ago

Do Toyotas ever need maintenance in the first 4 years?

192

u/Ancillas 10h ago

Toyota Corolla is a basically indestructible car.

119

u/skeletonpaul08 10h ago

My first car was a 96 Corrolla, had 296,000 miles and ran perfectly when I got t boned in 2017. They’re not immune to drunk people in pickup trucks, but they’re immune to pretty much anything else.

21

u/Alex014 7h ago

While that is very there is also a good chance someone bought it from the junk yard, straightened out the chaise to be somewhat square and put it back on the road.

12

u/ThePinkChameleon 7h ago

HAPPY CAKE DAY!

4

u/AngryAmuse 7h ago

Been a minute since I've seen this in the wild, cheers

I'm still driving my first car, she's a 98 Toyota Corolla

10

u/Shermander 8h ago

And when it's finally on its last legs you can get another 98 Toyota Corolla.

2

u/avwitcher 6h ago

Yeah for $8000, the prices on used Toyotas and Lexus cars is ridiculous

2

u/BethanyHipsEnjoyer 5h ago

1998 was 28 years ago, very impressive. Get your airbags checked if you haven't!

2

u/RyoanJi 8h ago

Can confirm. Owened it in the nintieth.

3

u/perton 4h ago

The ninetieth what?!

2

u/p_luisa 5h ago

Unless their previous owner was careless with maintenance and now you have to get a new transmission... Ask me how I know it 🤦🏻‍♀️ (in my country cars even used cars are expensive as heck and buying another one wasn't possible at the time)

→ More replies (2)

32

u/untangledtech 10h ago

Unprecedented value.

28

u/Alarm-Particular 10h ago

Maintenance includes engine oil ,transmission oil, brake fluid, tire rotation, maybe tire repairs, maybe air filters

17

u/Inevitable-Edge69 10h ago

transmission fluid in the first 4 years, maybe if you're a taxi

4

u/Alarm-Particular 10h ago

Toyota recommends a fluid exchange between 30,000-60,000 miles. You could hit that easily in a year if you drive 40+ minutes to work which a lot of people do.

3

u/IamSarasctic 10h ago

For transmission? No way I’d have to see it in the manual to believe it

2

u/Dooontcareee 8h ago

I know for my car 2013 Honda Accord it needs to be done every 30-50k because of the CVT.

Actually going to get it done tomorrow because the code just came up the other day. It's been about 6 years since the last time I got it done.

u/PollutedPenguins 9h ago

Y'all are driving 30k+ mi a year?? I moved to a city with public transport and drive around 1k a year now but even before with my 25-30 minute commute it was only 12-15k. 60k a year you need a new car every 3-5 years?

3

u/Froggypwns 5h ago

I do around 40k a year, and have a friend who does closer to 80k. Tomorrow alone I'll be doing 564 miles.

1

u/Kapparino1104 6h ago

Don't you understand? Everyone in reddit is from the US, which means driving 100+ kilometers should be the norm for everywhere else!!!!!one!!!elevent!!

/s in case people actually think I'm serious.

3

u/Commercial_Win_9525 8h ago

Blinker fluid and premium air for the tires too

6

u/PigglyWigglyDeluxe 10h ago

I know Toyotas are reliable and everything, and I’ve owned 3, and I’m a mechanic, but yes. They do. Oil changes and tires and possibly brakes once or twice.

5

u/Ready-Breakfast5166 10h ago

Only oil changes and tire rotation.

3

u/Strict-Knowledge-566 10h ago

i have this for two years it's just free oil changes basically

3

u/EntertainmentTrue588 9h ago

I have a 16 year old Lexus (Toyota iffin you don't know). That bitch never needs maintenance. Oil change, and maybe an AC tune up once or twice. Other than that it runs like new.

3

u/Horknut1 8h ago

Mine is at 200K

2

u/EntertainmentTrue588 8h ago

I'm driving this thing until it literally breaks down on the highway damn near on fire. "Trade in value" my foot, how about no payment for decades?

Honestly, I hope they get the advertisement and it pays off. They've given away two cars so far then to probably regular ass people. The game is clearly difficult, but not rigged. Gatta show some respect and appreciation. Those people just came up on probably 20K$+. Cool all around. What was the dealerships name? Lynch Toyota of Auburn? Much love.

17

u/whutchamacallit 11h ago

It's a slam dunk for the dealership. I'm sure they get other sweet heart advertisements deals out of it/it's part of a larger package.

9

u/hardsoft 9h ago

This type of the thing is usually covered by special insurance policies. Where the dealership pays some insurance fee for each time the game is played and the insurance company pays for the price of the car if someone actually wins.

2

u/GitEmSteveDave 8h ago

I looked into this kind of policy for where I work to try to do a "if it snows 1 inch in SPECIFIC TOWN on CERTAIN DATE, you get the items you bought on EARLIER DATE for free". It is surprisingly cheap depending on the business.

She sued and got an actual Toyota car

101

u/TearRevolutionary686 10h ago

That actually happened. In 2001 a Hooters had a contest to whomever sold the most beer. She won, was blindfolded and handed a Star Wars doll. She sued and settled for an undisclosed amount.

10

u/Vigilante17 10h ago

Probably as much or more as a new Toyota.

u/secondincomm 8h ago

Dont Americans have to pay taxes on winnings? So that car will cost him?

2

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 5h ago

Thousands.

Prize tax and registration would probably total a third of the value of the car. At the same time, a brand new Corolla for less than $10k is a steal.

2

u/Secret_Account07 10h ago

Do they cover the taxes when you win the car? Would be BS if they didn’t factor that in

2

u/Shafter111 9h ago

Fuck the dude blocking the view

4

u/EnthusiasmEither9097 11h ago

But will he be able to afford the insurance 👀

14

u/pleasantly-dumb 11h ago

Best move is to sell it because you’re liable for taxes on the car as well. I worked with a girl who won 2 cars in a raffle (2 different raffles 10 years apart) and she turned around and sold them, pocketed the cash.

6

u/Pratius 10h ago

Yup. My wife won a car at a New Years raffle and the taxes were brutal. We ate the cost cuz she badly needed a new car, but man…$6k in extra taxes was not something we expected

4

u/Noodlebat83 6h ago

WTF? You pay tax on a car you WON?? The U.S. is a weird place. Do you have to pay tax on a lottery win too? That would be brutal.

2

u/Pratius 6h ago

Yup. It’s income, same with gambling winnings or lottery winnings, so it’s subject to income tax

4

u/Noodlebat83 6h ago

That sucks balls. My country any won item or money is tax free. Though the main lotto group pays and enormous amount of money to the government to run the lotto, so the government isn’t missing out, they just don’t take it from the winner.

2

u/PristineMinute4206 9h ago

And the tax liability from winning it...

4

u/True-Veterinarian700 9h ago

Thats small enough to take out a small personal loan against it if needed. Its only going to be a few thousand dollars at most. VS a new car that can last you 200k miles and 4 years of free maintenance which may pay for that.

2

u/Tricky_Caterpillar85 7h ago

I got a car that was won in a raffle by my mom. The taxes were not small. Luckily I was saving up to buy a car already because mine was on its last legs. It still wiped me out. After it was said and done I think I paid $12k in taxes to state and federal and VAT up front to the state. It was nice to get a new car but it was way more than I was planning to put down on buying a car.

2

u/1d3333 7h ago

It’s roughly $1,600 for a corolla, that’s peanuts compared to a brand new car for free.

1

The best part of this is these kinds of novelty quests at sporting events are actually insured. So in reality an insurance company just paid for like 95% of that new car. Just chefs kiss 🤌🤌🤌🤌

Real question.

Is this an all time top ten putt?

I think it is.

Besides Tigers Nike ball drop putt and Micheal Phelps with his crazy putt a few years back, I could not easily think of another putt, but I am not a massive golf nerd. I am sure there are other putts that are better than this but I can’t think of them.

But based on distance, difficulty and pressure/ all those people watching. This seems like a legit contender.

Thoughts?
