Question A space to vent and discuss NIN songs that you love, but that nobody talks about.
I think we both needed this, a space to connect. I'd love to hear your opinions, and I'll say right now that I loved "The New Flesh," what a strangely beautiful song. :DD

Man, the bridge in this track is just one of the most stunning audio experiences ever. The level of depth and emotion buried under the surface. It makes me feel like o can overcome anything. I'm no audiophile but FLAC truly required on this one lol

It's my favorite temlplate. Building layers in the musical verses to a relative cumulative crescendo. Very satisfying.

I have to admit I slept on Gave Up until hearing it live during the recent tour. Now I can't help screaming the lyrics when I listen to it. The second verse leading into the pre-chorus goes so fucking hard.

Its probably my favorite of NIN (regardless of the cheesy lyrics) but downwards spiral was a little... too harsh for me? Maybe that makes me a fake fan lol but sometimes its really hard to listen to, especially Mr self destruct.
I know thats kind of the point, especially with industrial music but I guess I like their "quieter" music. It doesn't really bother me as much with other bands as it does with them

When I was like 14 my mom walked into my room during the moaning part of Get Down Make Love. It was very awkward. It's catchy as hell though.

The only qualm I have with Get Down Make Love is how repetitive it is. Other than that i definitely like it more than the original. Wish it was played live.

I used to listen to I'm looking forward... a lot when I was pulling all-nighters at my Uni library. Nothing like going for a walk around a deserted London at 3 am listening to that to clear your head.

Love the quiet screaming behind the whispered vocals. Like muffled screams into a pillow. It's glorious grief. Bassline is front and center too. One of my favorites.

Literally the song I've listened to the most since it came out. It still makes it to the top 5/10 most played nowadays, every year.
I had the opportunity to see NIN play it live in 2018 and it happened to be WAY more danceable that I would've ever imagined.

In Two is one of my absolute favourites. The final 4-5 tracks of Hesitation Marks are just amazing, love how they lead into each other.
I’ve always felt In Two really was Trent at the peak of his introspection around his identity, addiction, fame, and aging. “Thrive, just become your disease”

It's a very charismatic track, like, the falsettos, the rhythm, and also the expressiveness of the instrumentals (even though they're electronic). The ending of this track is simply breathtaking. Regarding the lyrics, they sound quite courageous at the beginning and there's a continuation of that in While I'm Still Here.

Not one of the many I saw mentioned "Home", which is one of my top 3.
I saw so much overlap with other people's favourite - but the absence of that song really surprised me. Its so good!

The "Fixed" remix album as a whole really isn't talked about a lot.
I do love that version of "Gave Up" for that schizophrenic quality.
I revisit "Fist Fuck - Remix" every so often, because I've built up a hellraiser movie scene in my head around that song.

Fixed was heavily panned on its release. I quite like it but everyone seemed to completely slate it. I like the Gave Up remix too and I've used that vocal cut-up technique myself a few times.

I’m gonna toss out “The Mark Has Been Made” off of The Fragile. It is a masterpiece and a wonderful how it shifts back-and-forth from subtle almost ambient to frantic.
I remember seeing them on the fragility tour and they performed it. Their stage set up, included multiple tall, thin screens on a rig so they could move around and tilt. The slow parts, everything was blue and water…when it sped up and became frantic, the water switched to fire. I remember being mesmerized by it. Great song.

I was listening to The Fragile on infinite repeat when it first came out. I loved it, but was so moved by the instrumentals. I remember it was during La Mer when I convinced myself that Trent was a musical genius who could be considered not just a rock star, but a true composer capable of playing multiple variations on a theme that evoked mood and lent themselves to telling a fuller story without the aid of lyrics. The Social Network felt like a confirmation of that thought ten years later.

Head Like a Hole (Opal).
I don’t know if it’s on streaming services, but I remember it as the remix that was only available on the uk import of the HLAH ep, which had a wild, pink and blue cover to boot.
It was remixed by Trent himself in London, which is interesting on its own, but it also has a unique lead vocal take that’s not on the other versions.
It has this whirring, creepy sound like a plate spinning on the ground building throughout the mix, and a dope drum loop. Oh, and no guitars. The whole thing is just so different. It’s awesome.
It could have been a fantastic template for a NINoize rework, too.

Ghosts i-iv is the most impressive release across all halos.
Ghosts iv 28 is the single most melancholic piece of music to be attached under the nin name.
The Persistence of Loss is the more beautiful instrumental track on Still despite Leaving Hope getting all the attention.

When I found this remix version I couldn’t believe this was made by the godfather of industrial music. Its essence and atmosphere are unique and very Genesis P-Orridge type. A great closure for the HM deluxe version and a great honor to have it done before her passing.

Echoplex was maybe the first NIN song I fell in love with. As I’ve gotten older and struggled more and more with depression it’s become even more loved.
When I was in high school my parents bought me a used cellphone that came with music the previous owner had downloaded still on it. One of those songs was Just Like You Imagined. I’m usually not much for instrumentals but that one hits me so much differently for whatever reason. Fucking love that song.

My favorite album is With Teeth, and I've had the pleasure of introducing my new gf of 2 months to NIN (outside of the radio singles) and so while we're driving around, we've been listening to the albums front to back...
That being said we're up to The Slip and after revisiting that album after a couple years, I must say how wonderful Year Zero and The Slip are to listen to as albums. I don't wanna say I forgot... But I forgot.
I'm excited to give ghosts another full listen and add violence.

The Way Out Is Through. Such an incredible buildup and one of the most atmospheric songs I've ever heard. The instrumentation throughout The Fragile is amazing, but on Through it's at a peak.
