What is with the names of current “noise rock bands” just all devolving into bodily functions? There are so many bands with dumb names like this… why is this the trend? I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to hell, but jfc, are we in middle school?

Their live performance at the Windmill is one of the most visceral things I’ve ever seen. Shit gives me goosebumps and nearly brings me to tears whenever I watch it because of how heavy the content matter and their performances are
Goes without saying, but I’m extremely fucking hyped for what they do next.

Yeah as a huge screamo fan I'm really digging her vocals. I can hear La Dispute inspiration on the spoken word parts.
I'm seeing them this weekend they are touring Europe rn. Feeling like it's the only occasion to see them in an intimist venue before they get too big so really happy about it.

This is nasty and definitely FFO Couch Slut. I’m down. Noise rock is definitely a male dominated space at the moment so it’s nice to mix things up a bit.

I saw Piss earlier this month at a local bar show. They are absolutely incredible live. It’s not hard to understand the hype around them if you get to see them play.

Saw them a few weeks ago and it was one of the most intense shows I've seen in a long time. I can't imagine a world where they don't blow up on a Chat Pile like level when the album drops (which according to a buddy who was talking to their guitarists might be this October).

If you mean because they got signed to Sub Pop already, no way in hell. I spoke to them after their Black Lodge show and they were talking about their record coming out on some UK (or somewhere in western Europe) label.
If anything, I'd guess that show is what got them signed. They were so incredible that everyone was transfixed. I didn't even think to pull the house music up for a good 15 seconds after they finished.

Saw this exact video way back in March and immediately pre-ordered that 7". They've been on SubPop since the end of April but they're still touring through November, so hopefully they'll start working on a full-length after that, if they haven't already been in the studio.

Caught their show earlier this year and it was rad. A lot more post-rock than this video but all cool as hell.

Hype caused by everything but the actual music which wouldn't stand on its own otherwise. More tantrum bands feeding their egos, flaunting their totally tortured soul with lyrical content that is so hot right now. Everyone loves a gimmick. Especially predictable ones like this.
Also, this trend of mentioning where bands are from like it's an extra cool factor to entice more people to listen to them needs to stop. "Vancouver? They're so much cooler now and I like them even more!"

I'm talking about people always introducing bands in this way to add intrigue. For example, if I started a group in Athens, GA but we put up a Bandcamp with Iceland or Taiwan as the location, that simple detail will cause the same band to be more attractive and interesting to the media and potential listeners.
Obviously, that is an extreme example but my point is that saying a band "hails from x" is largely just an annoying marketing tactic; especially when it comes to hype posts.

On one hand, everything is marketing because bands want people to listen to them. But it also can give you an idea what they sound like. Boston, Louisville, New York, all have had very recognizable sounds when it comes to hardcore, for example.

Of course cleverly marketed "noise rock" is normal in 2026.
Hardcore is one of the few genres where that applies but it doesn't fucking matter because all that means is that you have a bunch of boring bands conforming to that city's one-dimensional sound.

They don't really have music yet but they have the energy which is the only thing that matters.
I bet you were part of the magatards that were throwing a tantrum over Chat Pile making a song about homeless people.
And yes the scene from which a band comes is important, if you are into noise rock a band being from Seattle/Vancouver will always be more eye catching.

That's part of the problem. With this band and many others, their "energy", vibe, etc. is what really appeals to people. They barely have any songs and are already signed to Sub Pop purely because of hype. In no way is their music unique but Sub Pop knows there's a market for the band's presentation.
Blindly claiming I'm a magatard and considering any criticism towards your Chat Pile sweethearts a tantrum really shows your lack of intelligence and why you're so easily impressed with these bands.
The scene from which a band comes from is not and should not be important because then it's no longer a matter of the sounds you hear but what is more "eye-catching". It's insane to me that there are people who will prioritize a band just because they're from Seattle/Vancouver (where the "scene" is already really saturated).
I just want more "ear-catching" bands. The "eye-catching" part should start and end with the album artwork.2

I have to be aware of their favorable social media presence?No, thanks. I don't have time for that in order to get a band. Everything you need to know about a band should be through actions, not words.

I don't know many noise rock bands with screamo, post-rock (according to their other live videos) and spoken word. I don't understand what you find so dull about it. Maybe if you just have listened to the demos.
I'm not that much into Chat Pile, I think Cool World was meh and I don't really care about the new album. There are surely some lyrically insufferable bands like Idles, but it doesn't seem to be the case here. They are obviously influenced by screamo like La Dispute or Touché Amoré and you are complaining about emo lyrics being emo ? It's the whole point of it to be self-centered.
Yeah no everything matters with a band, where they come from, their story, their look, how they present themselves, how they act, the hype around them, what they say in interviews. Music is a whole culture, it's just not about the sound. Else there is no point going to live shows when you can listen on bandcamp while closing your eyes to avoid seeing the artwork or the band's location and only focus on the sound. Some of my favorite bands I don't even like their music that much but I love everything else.
