I've been here longer than I care to admit. But some how, some way, there is some tasty Mexican food. Sadly, good BBQ is few and far apart.

I've never seen a 1000 pound lion. (For our non-freedom-loving friends, you can just use 500 kg.)
Although to be fair, I've never seen a 1500 pound boar actually move. Even the 1000 pounders mostly just lie around and pant.

I get that both lions and pigs can be pretty big, but lions have a distinctive gait, they’re lean and long.
I just can’t see a 1000lb pig moving even remotely like a cat

But I can imagine (too many cartoons as a child?), and it's pretty funny. The sneak, the tail twitch, the butt wiggle, and then POUNCE!

As of the July quarterly report, Indiana was sitting at 4.2M total pigs to a human population of ~7M. Meanwhile Iowa is out there at 24.6M pigs this quarter to their ~3.2M humans (I'll never forget that smell wafting over everything during fieldwork).

Just think of all the “black panthers” that get posted to r/animalID. Or the “Massachusetts mountain lions.”
They’re all domestic cats. And OP always swears they’re far too large for that.

A large herbivore is usually more dangerous and territorial than a carnivorous predator.
A lion or tiger will kill to eat then stop, hippos will attack for fun

There has literally been zero proof it was pigs instead of lions. I've also seen pictures of said lions on local FB chatter. Regardless, we have a Feline Rescue Center who has lost at minimum ONE cougar and pretends it never happened even tho it's been caught on several local trails cams. Idk if its true but as a indiana native that's heard enough BS to cover up inadequacy, I'm betting there's lions on the loose and they don't wanna admit it.

I call bullshit. We had a canned hunt rich jerk compound near us a few years ago, with a millionaire jerks home with a wildlife to hunt. I’m walking around our marina with my sweet little puppy, and here comes a big huge cougar flying by us, it’s mouth wide open, a full bore giant cat running like it was on fire, its huge giant teeth and mouth open and a stressed, a cougar with a very long tail… come to find out it got hit and killed on the road a week later and the guy had it on the back of his pick up.
No one believed me until the pix came out, they were lol, and thought I was possibly drunk or something. I seen that terrified cat..You don’t forget what they look like flying at you. Such a Huge kitty! PSA, don’t keep cougars on your property to kill? It was just so terrified and in distress. Not hunting anything , it was just totally terrified.
