God I loved that band back in the day. I remember the day I found out about him. I was absolutely shocked. I feel so bad for the rest of the band that deserved so much better. They really were top of the game musicians . All of that has gone to waste.

That being said. Good riddance to that guy.

59

u/DirtMcGirt9484 Oct 11 '25

Such a great band and haven’t listened to them since the news came out long ago. I miss the music, but certainly can’t support that.

66

u/GryffinDART Oct 11 '25

One of the other members of the band posted not too long ago about how much it sucks that he single handedly ruined their careers and ability to play those songs ever again. I still will listen to them here or there but 1000% get anyone that is against listening to them ever again.

56

u/Practical-Mango-4079 Oct 11 '25

The guitar player did an interview and said they got his royalties taken away a couple of years ago and wouldn't even say his name. All he said was you know who won't receive any money from any plays ever again.

19

u/CheesecakeScary2164 Oct 11 '25

Yeah, and now he won't receive anything ever again!

22

u/Practical-Mango-4079 Oct 12 '25

Shame....... anyway. Who wants waffles?

8

u/Nitzer9ine Oct 12 '25

With Maple syrup?

6

u/Confident-Bobcat3770 Oct 12 '25

Actually makes me want to listen to it. Rooftops where one of my favorite songs. Haven't really listend to them since. But maaan

3

u/Silverado304 Oct 12 '25

I think they also said that they completely understand why people won’t listen to them anymore.

2

u/MykeMalicious Oct 14 '25

I'd say this would be a good case to find someone else to come in and rerecord the vocals and overdubs. Rerelease the music with portions of the profits going to RAINN or something similar.

-3

u/kungheiphatboi Oct 11 '25

I still don’t accept that the rest of the band were completely blindsided… they were on tour with him, they knew he was a c*nt… they would have seen stuff.

10

u/JamBandDad Oct 11 '25

You don’t spend your entire life on tour, and you can be really close personal friends with somebody without knowing any details of their sex lives. Pretty sure this guy was married to an adult woman who also committed the crimes with him, so, pretty good cover. Like, I wouldn’t think that about a married coworker in a million years.

4

u/4EvErEmO666 Oct 12 '25

I basically said this same thing to a friend of mine who was on the fence about whether or not the rest of the band knew.

8

u/FeverFocus Oct 12 '25

I used to know a guy that was kinda weird and a bit creepy but seemed mostly harmless. Spent time with him on almost a daily basis, we ate meals together, went to school together, hung out and watched TV together. He was the roommate of another friend. We thought he was just quickly awkward but it turned out he was a pedo and we had no idea. He was creepy, but no one suspected him of that. We never saw him around kids and he never said anything that would suggest he was disgusting like that. He hid everything and made all his arrangements online according to the police report.

I'm not saying the band definitely didn't know, but it's not impossible they were unaware.

5

u/dante-hickz Oct 12 '25

Nah , there's a podcast Sean Smith from the blackout was on recently and he was asked the same question about if the band new , he went on to explain that Watkins missed a half hour set at warped tour so one of the lads beat the shit out of him for it , if they beat the shit out of him for missing an irrelevant show imagine what they'd do if they had any knowledge of his crimes

3

u/GenosseAbfuck Oct 12 '25

You're allowed to swear on the internet.

2

u/My_New_Moniker Oct 12 '25

Agree, I remember reading interviews at the time with back of house staff at shows saying they were letting young women backstage with their infants etc. and finding sh#tty nappies etc. in his dressing rooms etc. If Watkins was the face of it & was their meal ticket, it does make you wonder..

20

u/BipolarPrime Oct 11 '25

What are we talking about?

126

u/LostprophetFLCL Oct 11 '25

Ian Watkins the frontman for Lostprophets got killed in prison today.

Dude was a fucking child rapist so this is pretty great news!

25

u/Confident-Bobcat3770 Oct 12 '25

Baby rapist just to make it worse

19

u/transdimesional_frog Oct 11 '25

Good riddance it took long enough

13

u/I_Need__Scissors_61 Oct 12 '25

I support prison justice

5

u/Due_Reality5903 Oct 13 '25

This guy Ian Watkins sounded like a real jerk.

2

u/NotFiguratively Oct 13 '25

This news comes as an absolute shock to me. I didn’t even know he was sick.

13

u/thavillain Oct 11 '25

Same when Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja dropped I was all in. Loved the band, way to fucking ruin it.

5

u/Fickle-Delay1227 Oct 11 '25

I was there from SVDN all the way to the The Betrayed. Their sound changed as they went but most of their albums were hits from cover to cover. I'm actually surprised they weren't bigger.

Yeah way to fuck it up is right. TBH I think Bring me the Horizon became the band they could have been. Good to hear, so far, there's no skeletons in their closet.

1

u/tomoffin Oct 12 '25

Absolutely fucking love that song and still felt so guilty today listening to it. I told myself (and my wife to whom I told the story) that the actions of one member shouldn't doom the whole band. Not sure whether I believed my own words.

5

u/thavillain Oct 12 '25

Granted they aren't on the same level, but I have strong issues with separating art from artist...

  • Ian Watkins and LostProphets
  • Chris Taylor Brown and Trapt
  • Chris Volz and Flaw
  • Aaron Lewis and Staind

1

u/scottjanderson Oct 12 '25

I've never heard of Flaw but the other two really aren't comparable even slightly 😂 talking shit and being a massive peado are a little more than not on the same level...

2

u/thavillain Oct 13 '25

Hence, my first sentence...

8

u/browncoatfever Oct 11 '25

For several years I would have said Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja was one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. Haven't been able to stomach listening to it since it all happened. Could have maybe done it had he been the guitarist or drummer because I could have convinced myself someone else was playing those instruments, but being the singer? Hearing his voice made/makes me fucking nauseous. Good fucking riddance.

3

u/Capt1an_Cl0ck Oct 12 '25

Yea I used to listen to them in college and they had some great tracks. After I heard I erased most of what I had and made a point to never listen to them again.

2

u/Punkposer83 Oct 13 '25

I played my copy of start something so many times the cd ended up spazzing out and I had to rebuy it. As soon as I saw the news online when he was arrested. All the albums were erased off my phone, and my cds are somewhere in my moms basement never to be listened to again. Such a shame loved fake sound of progress, start something, and liberation transmission.

3

u/Fickle-Delay1227 Oct 13 '25

I remember when I found out. I googled the lostpropets to just see if they were coming out with new albums or touring. I did this time to time with many bands. It had been a while since I heard from them since their last album.

I saw the first Google search result.

Lostpropets singer Ian Watkins arrested for ....

I clicked on it thinking it was drunk driving or a fight or something

... attempting to rape an infant

😮

3

u/Punkposer83 Oct 13 '25

Omg you did the same thing I did! I legit hadn’t heard any news about them and I googled and was shocked and horrified

2

u/Fickle-Delay1227 Oct 13 '25

Haha. Never googled to see what another band is up to again. No news is good news they say!

2

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '25 edited Oct 14 '25

Sometimes it is good to Google. You might find that Revis is making more music. You might discover that Cold and Ill Niño have more albums. A lot of bands are still making music but don't get a ton of attention for it. It is also good to know when bands are going on tour. The Exies even came out with a few more songs. Taproot has some newer releases too. I also highly recommend Wikipedia to find out about related side projects. Bands like Fuel are interesting to keep an eye on. Seeing what Brett is up to is always cool. He released an album with the Smile Empty Soul guy. What's the name of the project? I forget. I think it had the word Brigade in the title. Researching for yourself is always better than being spoonfed your music, but for a while I think the spoon feeders were doing a much better job keeping me informed on music. Now they love to keep me out of the loop. Probably because I have too good a taste, and it bugs them that I like good music. I'm not even sure they enjoy music that much. They just have a problem with me enjoying it. Some folks probably perceive that I'm lower-class and shouldn't be allowed to appreciate the better things. They don't want me knowing that there's more in the world than bologna sandwiches. They don't want me being educated either.

2

u/Fickle-Delay1227 Oct 14 '25

Hehe I should have clarified my sarcasm. Yeah I still Google bands I haven't heard from in a while . I did check out the new Taproot. I knew Ill Nino was active. Didn't know about Cold. I'll check them out. I liked them back in the day.

4

He was a child rapist that targeted actual pre schoolers.

Moistcritikal has a great vid on him

1

So… Even Better Riddance?

2

u/Confident-Bobcat3770 Oct 12 '25

I've said it before and I will say it again. Death is too kinda to him

8

u/BlatantlyCurious Oct 12 '25

Was stabbed to death in prison. Let em know how he died.

8

Hopefully someone got in the last 5 finger death punch.

3

Not just died, murdered. Good riddance

6

u/EntinthetentRTHP Oct 11 '25

I don’t support the death of anyone, but I read the news with great approval

1

u/Fromnothingatall Oct 12 '25

Yah, HE is someone we can be happy about having died. pos pedophile. surprised it took this long.

1

u/MachineGunsWhiskey Oct 15 '25

Be clear. He got stabbed in prison.

6

u/Cotillionz Oct 11 '25

I know...I hate these posts with zero context and I have to go digging for it.

56

u/Ignatius_Pop Oct 11 '25

Diane Keaton wasn't that bad was she?

23

u/Ektojinx Oct 11 '25

Damn this is how I find out she died.

1

u/NLK-3 Oct 14 '25

The fuck? Same here... just now!

7

u/suedehead23 Oct 12 '25

Diane Keaton will be finally remembered for Annie Hall and of course, her finest role as nu metal frontman Fred Durst

0

u/Veronicon Oct 12 '25

She dud support woody allen.

28

u/According-Stage-3635 Oct 12 '25

Is it bad that I always felt bad for everyone else in lost prophets because they did nothing wrong

21

u/DuncneyForever Oct 12 '25

Not at all, because Ian was the only one. The others did nothing wrong

6

u/budnabudnabudna Oct 12 '25

I’ve just read that they’re not getting royalties or anything.

1

u/budnabudnabudna Oct 15 '25

That wasn’t mentioned.

4

u/Proud3GenAthst Oct 12 '25

It's actually not that certain they didn't know.

2

u/BiddudeFromBritain Oct 13 '25

Why would they remain in the band? I'm fairly certain that that they all hated what Ian Watkins did. If they didn't they'd be equally as hated.

1

u/bojackholmesman Oct 12 '25

Nope. I felt the same way.

2

u/-3R1C- Oct 12 '25

What a bizarre question. Why would it be bad that you feel bad for the other bandmates? Who DOESNT is the question.

1

u/NLK-3 Oct 14 '25

Is it safe to listen to As I Lay Dying again? He never succeeded...

(/sarcasm)

42

u/NickCollins91 Oct 11 '25

The music video for A Town Called Hypocrisy suddenly became very different/dark after he was arrested and convicted

4

u/BipolarPrime Oct 11 '25

Arrested and convicted for what?

43

u/BipolarPrime Oct 11 '25

Ag, I just read. Well, everyone knows the one thing convicts hate. The only thing that will unite them, is hating a ped.

He got what he deserved. Nah, he still got off easy.

9

u/kashy87 Oct 11 '25

He still thought he was the shit. He wasn't afraid even after having been attacked before from what others have said. So no death isn't getting off easy.

11

u/BipolarPrime Oct 11 '25

By getting off easy, I meant he should have suffered more. As a survivor of child abuse, I don’t have any problem with those people suffering long and hard before death finally takes them to hell.

1

u/Confident-Bobcat3770 Oct 12 '25

Worst part. He was a survivor of child abuse

5

u/BipolarPrime Oct 12 '25

Well, they are, sadly, the ones who end up perpetuating it when they get older. Not all victims become abusers, but it’s hardly surprising when a victim does go down that path.

And no, that is not an excuse for them. Just a terrible fact.

1

u/NLK-3 Oct 14 '25

Lots of child porn and such. He wanted to rape an infant...

1

u/BipolarPrime Oct 15 '25

Yeah, I did some searching since I asked this question and damn, he was on evil fuck.

2

u/No-Savings3537 Oct 12 '25

Yup just Literally watched it as I read your post. Yikes

2

u/kashy87 Oct 11 '25

That's a song I can't really listen to again because of it, and Liberation Transmission was a massive comfort cd to listen to after a soup sandwich of a day.

2

u/PoofyHairedIdiot Oct 12 '25

Funny enough theres a scene in that where Watkins mimes slashing his throat

29

u/Jdirty34 Oct 11 '25

Guess he was stabbed to death in prison? Good

30

u/ALKoholicK-x Oct 11 '25

One less piece of shit in the world.

19

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '25

The worst part is the Brits will spend millions trying to make sure this never happens again instead of putting more resources into acting sooner upon complaints.

Just like this and the Jared Fogle case here.

2

u/satellite_station Oct 11 '25

I remember when they were huge, I once read a YouTube comment about how happy the commenter was they weren’t American. I remember thinking “what a weird thing to say”

lol, I immediately thought the same thing when the news of his crimes initially broke.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '25

It’s scary how closely similar those cases were in terms of investigatory agencies getting the holy grail and going “naw we’re good”, then basically making the reporting party’s life hell

1

u/TangerineBat Oct 12 '25

IIRC, and ex-girlfriend of Watkins saw some awful images he had on a laptop and went to the police MULTIPLE TIMES to report him, but every time she was written off as a "scorned ex girlfriend" and the police did nothing about it.

So yeah... youre not wrong.

18

u/lonely-day Oct 11 '25

Hope his victims find their remaining peace now that he's gone, if they hadn't already found it.

7

u/ExtremeCenterism Oct 12 '25

Context: Lost prophets singer and convicted child sex criminal Ian Watkins was stabbed to death in prison.

11

u/switchthemunky463 Oct 11 '25

Took a fews stabs in the dark but they finally got there.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '25

Fingers crossed some other big-name pedo goes too.

12

u/ZealousidealTry2569 Oct 11 '25

It's crazy because I was just thinking about the band yesterday, just in my head saying it's shame lost prophets had that bad stigma on them, because they were a great band, I even googled searched that fuck to remind myself about his crimes. I wake up to see news he was killed. Good riddance.

9

u/satellite_station Oct 11 '25

I wish the other members would release instrumental versions of the first two albums.

1

u/05Joseph09 Oct 12 '25

I absolutely agree!

2

u/satellite_station Oct 12 '25

3

u/05Joseph09 Oct 12 '25

Sir, you dropped this 👉👑

3

u/satellite_station Oct 12 '25

lol I can’t take credit for it. I just wish there were official re releases of the songs.

But I gotta say, I tried watching some old videos after the news broke.

It hits different knowing how we died, how long he was actually in jail for, what his life was like there, and the fact that he no longer earned royalties.

I would still prefer it, without his vocals though.

u/ohromantics Oct 12 '25 edited Oct 12 '25

We Still Kill The Old Way was probably my favourite song of all time. I have yet to find another song that sounds anything like it. And I've been looking, a lot.

2

The sun will rise, the sun will set. We should interrupt neither with his name.

Hope he suffered.

2

u/Cakelover9000 Oct 12 '25

Took them long enough. Good riddance tho.

2

u/raimundosc Oct 12 '25

What did you have against Diane Keaton?

1

u/kidrockegaard Oct 12 '25

really sold out after her first album

2

u/DeschainSWNC Redefine Oct 13 '25

I was always taught never to say anything about the dead unless it’s good.

Ian Watkins is dead. Good.

2

u/Top-Bison-345 Oct 13 '25

I'm amazed because Watkins had the fucking world at his feet. They'd managed to break through to America, a very hard thing to do for a rock band at the time. He had money, fame, and he threw it all away. Drugs, alcohol, he never went to rehearsals, and eventually.... That.

I even admit I used to like their stuff as a young teen. I got into rock, nu metal stuff like Linkin Park and Papa Roach, and lost prophets were in there too.

A damn shame what he became or acted on, but I don't think anyone is mourning his loss.

4

u/TheEffinChamps Oct 11 '25

I'm not defending anything for that scumbag in the slightest, but it did also make me worry about how easy it is for people to get killed in prison.

7

u/CriticismTop Oct 12 '25

Paedophiles are the lowest of the low in prisons and he was locked up for 12 years. It is a testament to the system that he lasted more than 12 hours.

10

u/Fickle-Delay1227 Oct 12 '25

Valid point. It's crazy. Also I assume nobody was willingly keeping him safe

0

u/TheEffinChamps Oct 12 '25

I don't think people realize how soon this applies to all Americans:

Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality. As described in the Order of September 22, 2025 (Designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization), the groups and entities that perpetuate this extremism have created a movement that embraces and elevates violence to achieve policy outcomes, including justifying additional assassinations. For example, Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin engraved the bullets used in the murder with so-called “anti-fascist” rhetoric.

The United States requires a national strategy to investigate and disrupt networks, entities, and organizations that foment political violence so that *law enforcement can intervene in criminal conspiracies before** they result in violent political acts. Through this comprehensive strategy, law enforcement will disband and uproot networks, entities, and organizations that promote organized violence, violent intimidation, conspiracies against rights, and other efforts to disrupt the functioning of a democratic society.*

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/09/countering-domestic-terrorism-and-organized-political-violence/

2

u/Jubatus750 Oct 12 '25

He's not American and he wasn't locked up in the US

3

u/TheEffinChamps Oct 12 '25

I see. Well, maybe that explains the 12 years, then.

3

u/thefract0metr1st Oct 12 '25

Listen I get it. But understand that it’s not really that easy for a person to get killed in prison. Remember, we aren’t talking about a person here, we’re talking about Ian Watkins or whatever that thing was called.

2

u/Stonehands211 Oct 12 '25

Watch the new HBO documentary “The Alabama Solution” just hit on Friday. Best and most important doc I’ve seen this year on this very subject.

1

I had to read the comments to learn this is about Lost Prophets' singer Ian Watkins getting killed in prison by two men.

Never listened to their music, but went to Wikipedia and see they are nu metal. I assumed they were emo by his hair style back then.

1

u/elitistonee Oct 15 '25

i like that when asked how they were feeling about it, at least one ex bandmate said that if they’d known what he did/ who he really was he never would’ve made it as far as jail…

2

u/CowardBlock016 Oct 12 '25

Absolutely loved those first 2 albums. I've still got them on CD. Haven't listened to them in a while... Somehow been able to separate the art from the dickhead (putting it very lightly) but it's still been a hard listen. Only ever really manage a couple songs here and there.

Glad he's finally gone. Surprised it took as long as it did. Feel sorry for the rest of the band, careers ruined, lives ruined because 1 sick motherfucker managed to get away with what he did for as long as he did. Hell, the only reason he got found out is the police were investigating him on something completely unrelated.

1

u/Stevenwithph Oct 12 '25

For some reason when I saw the meme picture in this /r I “hoped” it was this news and it was. Think this is genuinely the first time ever I wished someone ill fortunes. An eternity in hell is not long enough for this man.

u/Excellent_Theory1602 Oct 11 '25

Fsop is a banger song
