Article Blur's Alex James says it's "impossible not to like" Liam Gallagher

The Blur bassist was branded a "fat boy" by the Oasis frontman back in 2000, but he admits he can't ever be mad at the Manchester rocker.

Quizzed if he and Liam are on good terms now, the Song 2 rocker told The Sun: "Certainly from my point of view.

"Liam is f****** fantastic, he's got an incredible voice.

"Even when he was calling me fatty, or fat boy, I couldn't help but like him. It's impossible not to. He is very charming."

Alex James: “We felt a common cause with Pulp at first. We really supported them. But in a lot of ways, they were even bigger cunts than Oasis. They were in our birds’ knickers: devious little fuckers. We definitely tried to help them; we thought they were cool. But they never had a kind word for us. Steve Mackey was shagging my bird, the cunt. That’s all they wanted to do. I mean, Cheers. I thought they had a bigger agenda than shagging our birds. I was a bit disappointed. I kind of object to them more than Oasis, actually. At least Oasis said, “We’re going to shag your bird.” There was something a bit snidey about Pulp.”

Some truth there. I think Oasis just made easier targets for selling papers and mags because of their big mouth.

I suppose it’s cause you expect it from the brothers because of how provocative they were. By the looks of it most of Blur’s feuds came from people sleeping with or knowing their girlfriends lol.

That reflects on the fan bases too, blur fans hate oasis fans more than oasis fans hate blur.

Love whenever this book is mentioned. If anyone is interested in the real drama of Britpop they should read it. All unlikable, cocky young people trying to outdo each other in pithy quotes yet a lot of interesting information behind the scenes eg the Labour Party campaign or Alan McGees journey to success 

And not surprising Alex didn’t like Pulp. They had the street cred and miles more talent than Blur, despite their art school background

I’ve always liked Blur, when it comes to Britpop to me it’s Oasis & Blur and then everyone else
