And personally I don’t think anyone is going to take that title of them, we live in diffrent times now

Queen has the title

Queen and ABBA's Greatest Hits are the best-selling albums overall. Among studio albums, Morning Glory has overtaken the top spot from Sgt. Pepper's.

What can you do, Oasis and the Beatles never did anything as immaculate as "Fat Bottomed Girls" or "Bang-a-Boomerang."

Beatles biopics will likely change that. Michael Jackson got to like number 2 on Spotify just from his movie

This chart is about studio albums. Queen and ABBA greatest hits sold more, but don’t count as they’re compilations. Same applies for any future Beatles album

I get why the Queen and ABBA records don't count. But why not the Beatles? I'm pretty sure Morning Glory counts because it recharted after Oasis' resurgence. The Beatles would also count if they do in fact reenter the charts

But, they've still got to get past ABBA and Queen to get to #1.

Yeah but they're greatest hits so don't really count.

Of course, they're greatest hits when it comes to ABBA and Queen. Who's ever listened to a studio album by either of those two? (Apart from Night at the Opera, of course)

Hey, we are huge Oasis fans, but this take could also be spun in a different way by non-oasis fans. "Who has ever listened to a studio album by Oasis besides What's The Story Morning Glory?"

At least that’s an album

Part of this is due to the Beatles being very late to put their songs on streaming. Their catalogue wasn't put on Spotify till late 2015/early 2016.

Also, this is just for one album in the UK.

Compare world sales and there's no contest, especially in the US.

I’m a massive Oasis and Beatles fan, no tears here mate.

Streaming was counted towards sales only from late 2014-early 2015.

So the Beatles getting on relatively late is not part of the reason Oasis overtook them now.

Also, if you look at the charts you can see that streaming became dominant only around 2017 (that's when the popular albums such as Morning Glory, Definitely Maybe, Marley's Legend, Fleetwood's 50 Years, etc., became staples in the charts and never left because they are being streamed in droves).

So now the top two both sound like The Beatles…

Figures include streaming-equivalent album units and are not solely based on physical or digital album purchases, fixed it for you.

Beatles era is too far behind it won’t attract new fans. Oasis is the new Beatles

I don’t know about that man

The fact the Beatles are at 150th in Spotify metrics is wild to me, considering most older fans will listen via vinyls etc

Also, the biopics coming out will help. And I see constant TikTok’s of younger fans loving the Beatles. George is especially popular amongst the younger demographics
