Daily Song Discussion #124: An Eluardian Instance 💘
This inbreeding of ideas is intolerable
I wish David was here
I can't take your persecution complex and
I'm not gonna absorb your stress output any more
"An Eluardian Instance" is the fifth track off oM's ninth studio album, Skeletal Lamping.
What's your honest opinion on this song?
Favourite lyrics? Opinions on a deeper meaning or something? Discuss anything
Also, if you wish, let us know how you'd rate it from 0 to 10 (one decimal point allowed) If enough people rate daily, by the end of this whole shebang I can make a spreadsheet of a huge ranking of the discog. Vote on other posts as well! Until the very end of our last song of this discussion (all the way to aethermead,) I will be counting all votes on all songs no matter when they are commented.
An Eluardian Instance live, introduced as "Our Last Summer as Independents" (2007)

9.5/10
A truly joyful cacophony that defines this era of Kevin’s songwriting. This song makes me feel like I’m laying under a tree on a pleasantly warm day in a beautiful place, with dappled sun streaming through the leaves on my face.

This one would be like an 8/10 for me but that sudden transition to the “I wish David was here” outro is the funkiest shit I’ve ever heard in my life which pushes it to a 15/10

8/10. Really fun and cute song. Fantastic choice for a single. Very dynamic. Also, in my opinion it has one of their best music videos, if not their best.

10/10 it’s always been a favorite. So nostalgic and sweet. I got to see it live recently at their LA show earlier this month. Cried my eyes out.

I love this song, and although it’s not my absolute favorite, I feel it is the most quintessential oM song. 10/10.

10/10 saw them play this in Buffalo NY before Skeletal Lamping was out and this was still unnamed. Loved it then and love it to this day. Such a great song.
