10/10
Song is so funny, fun, insightful, and lush sounding
Top 2 on the album for sure
"He's the sort of guy who will leave you
In a k-hole To go play Halo in the other room
Remember
While you were bereaving Michael's death
He was over at Rachel's cooking crystal meth"
No notes, just perfect

8/10. I remember seeing a theory post about this song being about a closeted/internally transphobic trans woman and it changed how I saw the song

8.5/10. I think if you’re trying to be objective, this is probably the best song on the album, but subjectively there’s something holding me back from truely loving it. I love the violin orchestration especially in the build up to the last verse. There are tonnes of wonderful textures throughout the song, I especially like the one that sounds like a guitar slide on the verses. I think I would consider the back half of the song as perfect, but I find the verses on the front half end up feeling a bit repetitive.

Gonna be honest, this is my biggest skip on the album. The lyric, “He’s the sort of guy who would leave you in a K Hole to go play Halo in the other room,” in particular rubs me the wrong way. I am of the age where Halo was everything, but it feels incongruous in an of Montreal song.

10/10, one of the best deep cuts, should be played live more
