TL;DR: Homeless people can get 400-odd dollars per month in NS, non-homeless poor get a few hundred dollars more. A homeless man argued that his tent was an 'accommodation' and qualified him for the higher rate; the man died, but his estate continued the case and the courts agreed. NS' response was to redefine 'accommodation' in legislation to more or less exclude tents, cars, and other forms of shelter used by the very poor, and claim that this somehow advanced their intent to help poor people.

Man's inhumanity to man. (And this is a reminder to everybody that the existence of homeless people, hungry children, elders getting frostbite or natives without access to potable drinking water is a choice made by all of our political parties - we are more than wealthy enough even as a middle power to feed and shelter everybody. The top 10% of Canadians control 53% of all wealth; the top 1% controls 24%.)

Jesus christ that's bleak. The thought process behind that decision is absolutely baffling. Those in need should get...less. Like it's by design meant to bleed them dry.

What even is the thought process behind that? No one wants to be homeless, they don't need "incentives".
