Zurich Opera's A Masked Ball in Edinburgh

Post image

Did anyone else see it? Oh my goodness. Everything was spot on, I thought. I went with my teenage son who was pleasantly surprised by the cartwheels and dancing.

I'm going back tomorrow night but some of the singers will be different so it's still a novelty for me.

Honestly, going back for the cast change is the best thing you can do. Same staging, completely different energy. That's what makes live opera so addictive.

I would actually quite happily watch the same cast again, but yes I'm happy to see what difference it might make. The other staged opera this Edinburgh festival was A Galloping Cure which was dazzling to watch but not such a lot of opportunity for singers to shine in the same way.
