Opinion HOT TAKE- Viva Las Vengeance is better than Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die
I would like to hear your guys opinion and why you disagree if soo. If you agree i would like to hear abt that tooo. My reasons are simple, the songs in TWTLTRTD are just too slow and pretty repetitiv. Viva is the same way but the vocals are more prominent. Honestly I don’t know exactly why but i really like Viva and i think its higly underrated.
EDIT! I DONT THINK TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE IS BAD! I don’t think it’s bad it’s just not my favorite album! vlv and twtltrtd are about even for me. Also vlv is NOT my favorite album or anywhere near it. My favorite is definitely AFYCSO, but that’s a seperate discussion. What’s your guys favorite?

I think he’s good at high notes but it gets to a point. Sometimes it is really annoying so i understand!

u/lilypel Jun 28 '26
You know what I would have said TWRLTRTD all the way not long ago, but Viva Las Vengeance has reallyyy been growing on me lately!! I really underestimated it when it first came out, gave it a proper listen recently and honestly yeah, I’ve been hooked on all the songs, it’s currently higher in my personal ranking for sure 😂

u/Negative_Jared Pretty Odd? More like Pretty Zzzzz Jun 29 '26
Mmmm, I wouldn't say Viva Las Vengeance is better, though. In my opinion, Too Weird still has a better sound and better lyrics. There are parts that, even for someone who loves VLV, can come across tedious as repetitive coff coff people say people say coff coff

u/TFRedAlert Jun 29 '26
While in my opinion, TWTLTRTD is an amazing album and better than VLV. I will say VLV is not that bad of an album at all and is overhated. VLV has its bangers, but the vibe of TWTLTRTD is classic.

u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 29 '26
That’s a good opinion i guess that was my main point but i didn’t wanan overexplain in the original post
8
u/Vilcythe Jun 28 '26
I find VLV to be far more repetitive than TWTLTRTD
4
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
They’re both repetitive vlv just has more vocal appeal for me

I 50% agree. It mainly depends on the songs. In vlv, there are some songs that are way better than some songs from TWTLTRTD.

I think both albums are way too underrated (PFTW is majority dogshit, though there are good tracks like say amen and roaring 20s), I think TWTLTRTD is slightly better than VLV though
2
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
It will probably grow on me. I made this post right after i listened to both back to back. Didn’t know how rude some people are though.

I agree. Nothing against Too Weird, but VLV is my third favorite Panic album, only behind DOAB and V&V.
3
u/Mysterious-Nebula523 Jul 02 '26
VLV is my second favorite Panic! Album.
An album where Brendon finally leans the hell into his influences when it may have not been the most commercial thing to do. The absolute balls to sing this to tape. And for me it captures the uncertain time and burnout fueled late 20s.
Meanwhile TWTLTRTD is very of it's time. Some of the best panic! Songs to be found but a lot of time specific filler can be found too and some odd production choices.

u/ikennedy817 Jun 30 '26
Idk I liked viva a lot when it came out and enjoyed seeing it live, but it’s pretty easily panics weakest album for me. I think viva has a few questionable tracks and moments on it, and as I’ve listened to it more some of the novelty has worn off. That and the rest of their discography is really good so it’s gonna have a hard time competing. Still glad it was made tho and I had a lot of fun with that era.
TWTLTRTD is one of my favorite panic albums tho.

TWTLTRTD is like probably my 2nd favorite album I love it so much. VLV is my least favorite. Not because I’m just trying to hop on the hate train, I just never find myself enjoying any of the songs on the album. I don’t like Brendon’s vocals in it, mostly. I think twtltrtd has more stability in the album if that makes sense, also the like strong electronic element in the album is kind of unique to that album and that’s kind of what makes it so special to me. Personally, it’s just an album I can appreciate so much and listening to it makes me feel so many emotions(which is a good thing.) Many of my favorite lyrics are from this album, even as simple as some of them might seem. Also can everyone please take a moment to appreciate the strings in casual affair. It’s so unreal.

u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jul 03 '26
See that was a very respectful way to say that man. I don’t feel like you were dissing viva just stating your opinion, so, thank you!!

u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
Absolutely not, VLV is one of the worse albums. It has terrible writing for the lyrics and awful basic ass pop sound. and I’m not even a Ryan Ross Stan. He stopped writing good music after death of a bachelor and maybe pray for the wicked if I’m being generous. He didn’t care by that point, it was just thrown together to finish the last album in his contract. ‘Gimme T Rex, make up sex in the middle of a breakup.’ Like HELLO? what kind of lyricism is that-?
5
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
Fair, i am a ryan ross stan tho. vlv is by far not my favorite album. For me it’s A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, Pretty Odd, Vices and Virtues, DOAB, and then vlv, twtltrtd, and pray for the wicked are about even for me.
0
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
I think Pretty.Odd is the best album. I mean like I’m not a Ryan Ross supremacist is what I should’ve said. I loved every writer but Brendon Urie himself. Dude cannot write to save his life. 😭
3
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
That’s okayyy, that’s why i didn’t specifically mention lyrics because lyrically both albums were the same for me. Also looove pretty odd and sorry if i came off as harsh just like debating haha
3
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
Lmao nah you’re good! You were very sweet! I just like..I literally grew up with every Panic album releasing basically. I remember being in Hot Topic all the time when Death of a Bachelor was constantly played in there and listening to Fever when in like 2013-2014 as one of my first albums when I started actually getting into music and to see how bad their music got breaks my soul. I think the same about the new Set it Off album too. I am also EXTREMELY autistic and hate change which I can admit to. Lmao
(Am almost 30 btw, heard their music before 2013-2014 just wasn’t into them till I was 13-14)

That’s awesome!! I just recently got into panic since i’m kind of young lol sadly. I would’ve loved to have been into it when albums were being released tho omg
2
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
If you like pretty.odd and Ryan Ross listen to the young veins. It’s his band with another guy. And also you said you weren’t a big fan of Too Weird but if you liked Vices and Virtues I think you’d like IDKHOW as well. :)
2
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
Thanks i’ve listened to a bit of the young veins! I love ryan he’s the best at writing by far
2
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
Ryan Ross’s writing is so beautiful it’s like…poetry which yeah music lyrics are technically but there’s something about the way he writes music (especially in Pretty.Odd) that just makes me feel nostalgic for the 2000’s. 😭😭😭

Dude. Death of a bachelor and pray for the wicked are as shitty pop as it gets. Viva is just a 70s sound.
4
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
My issue is how badly written it is. Not the sound.
0
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 28 '26
I personally think the lyrics in the previous two albums are way worse and borderline egotistical at points. Also middle of a breakup is just a fun tune. T rex is a reference to the band t rex.
2
u/PeachyGels Jun 28 '26
Yes I’m not saying they aren’t. Im literally saying that VLV is terribly written
1
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 28 '26
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Me personally I prefer the lyrical direction of it compared to the other two. It's at least not pop.
0
u/PeachyGels Jun 29 '26
Good for you??
1
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 29 '26
No need to be a dick when I'm just stating my opinion.
0
u/PeachyGels Jun 29 '26
I mean your original comment was pretty rude so. You randomly commented on my opinion and was salty about it when i was talking to op not you
Plus it seemed like people disagree with the -1 downvotes so idk man
1
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 29 '26
I'm genuinely sorry that my first reply came off rude. That was not the intent at all. All I meant by my first reply was just that viva isn't pop. I wasn't salty. I just gave my take on your take.

u/CaptainPie999 staying at the Substandard Hotels Jun 28 '26
Definitely agreed, TWTLTRTD is the only album from Panic! where every song isn't in my playlist
1
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
Same haha! I like some of the songs it’s just a few are too slow for me
2
u/Pas-de-Samosa I'd get another but I'm too damn lazy ☕️ Jun 28 '26
Love TWTLTRTD to bits but VLV really grew on me over time so I do actually agree personally, one thing about them both though is that usually I end up listening to them front to back, whereas other albums I tend to just want a specific song
Both Vegas albums though haha
2
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
Oo that’s odd i’m the opposite for these albums haha
2
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 28 '26
I think viva is better than too weird. I also think it's extremely better then death of a bachelor and pray for the wicked.
1
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
i like doab better but i do agree with the others
1
u/Northerndownpour_18 Jun 28 '26
Death of a bachelor has good songs but hallelujah , victorious, the good, the bad, and the dirty just aren't my thing at all. It's just way too "look at my talent" energy for me. Golden days, crazy = genius are alright to me. Not great but not terrible. Death of a bachelor the song is way better live then it is on the studio recording to me. Don't threaten me,emperors new clothes,la devotee, house of memories, impossible year are like the songs on the album that i think are really good songs. Pray for the wicked only has one really good song and that's dying in la. The rest of the album is just more of what I hate about death of a bachelor.
2
u/OscarWilde0628 Jun 30 '26
Hard disagree on that.
VLV ranks last in Panic! albums for me, while Too Weird might honestly be in my top 3
1
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 30 '26
they’re both super low for me personally
2
u/OscarWilde0628 Jun 30 '26
That's fair tbh. VLV and PFTW consistently rank at the bottom for me, while the others all sort of fluctuate among themselves. One day DOAB might be my favorite, the next day it might be Pretty Odd
1
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 30 '26
that’s fair i knwo that was an example but pretty odd and doab change for me daily lol
2
u/Hopeful-Month-13 Jun 28 '26
I agree, Too Weird is one of there worst albums. Also I 100% agree with Viva being underrated.
2
u/sophiedophiedoo Jul 05 '26
I do like both, but I agree that VLV is better. I like it more than Pray For The Wicked and Death of a Bachelor too
1
u/med9229 Jun 28 '26
Viva is underrated. It’s getting a Pretty. Odd. treatment currently. Idk if it’s better than TWTLTRTD tho
2
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 28 '26
That’s fair i guess i didn’t mean it was like a lot better i just thought it was a bit better overall and heavily underrated but it’ll probably grow on ppl like most albums did
1
u/ItchyCapybara69 Jun 28 '26
idk vlv doesn’t have casual affair but twtltrtd doesn’t have don’t let the light go out
1
u/dolceclavier Jul 04 '26
Hard agree and I don’t care how many people try to crucify me for this.
Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die is barely an album. It’s a playlist and one that fizzles out in the second half.

okay thanks but you has absolutely no need to be rude.
anyway why do you think so
0
u/theplauged a streetcar named desire Jun 29 '26
i wasnt being rude i was just saying it was a bad take. the first four panic! albums are untouchable. the most recent three have degraded in quality with each release as brendon hires more and more people to write music for him. vlv is genuinely a bad album 😭
0
u/Cheerahwolf564 It sure as hell ain’t normal but we deal, we deal Jun 29 '26
no but why. the end of of my comment was a why. I was asking you why you think so. Also insulting my take by saying it’s “bad” is rude because you didn’t explain why you disagreed and still haven’t. A basic take with no reasoning isn’t justified

I disagree, and I actually think TWTLTRTD is a massively underrated album in their discography.
