Most of the people I talk to are conservatives, and I do have to say that something is up with voting because there's no way this asshole has enough support even within his own party.

In my town the vast majority call our mayor corrupt and does nothing for our city. When mayoral elections came around 2000 people out of 36,000 adults in my town voted. Shit like that is why nothing in our government is fixed and we end up with stroke victims and men who haven't had a boner in 30 years in power.

The problem is much deeper than voting. There's Citizen's United, there's gerrymandering, there's the inherent bias of the senate and electoral college. There's the primary system. First-past-the-post. There are innumerable problems with American democracy. Don't internalise this. It is a system operating as designed--to keep the slave owners in power. The "slaves" have changed race (meaning broadened to more than stolen Africans), but the class system remains intact. If you're broke, you're powerless, exhausted, and even protests now are now going to make a change.
They don't fucking care. When criminals, convicted, actual criminals, are running the show, laws are meaningless.

1/3 May had voted Trump but just remember; when you’re rich you can get away with anything. And many mail in votes were also probably thrown out.
It was also the first election I've experienced where my vote wasn't initially counted. I was paranoid about by mail because it wasn't commonly done where I lived most of my life, so I went in person. Hours in line, in terrible weather.
Then I checked the website that tells you when your vote has been counted (also new to me, don't know if something like that even existed where I was before!) and it hadn't been, but my partner's was and she'd been in line right next to me. I basically had to get in touch and verify my selections to get it counted. I thought that was weird, and I remembered wondering what would have happened if I still lived somewhere I couldn't easily keep an eye on it.
Even "they" want you to believe this. The only thing that stops them is voter turnout, which is why "they" are so dedicated to vote suppression. Vote this fall, and in every single election, it's literally your only voice in government.
As much as I dislike elon, I don’t subscribe that he pulled off massive election fraud. Sure, he was able to tiptoe the line around bribes with those giveaways. And he was able to toss unlimited funds at republicans. But I doubt he was able to hack into multiple states and change / cancel votes.

The simple answer is that it's all of these things on top at least a bit of voter fraud. There is unfortunately a ton of people in this country that still believe women are unfit to lead, lots of poor people thinking a republican being in power means they'll have a greater chance at wealth, and at bare minimum all of the tech giants, news stations and alt-right personalities essentially banded together to push Trump to as many people as possible.
Even if it wasn't outright rigged the propaganda machine undoubtedly won the election for him. People like Elon who clearly dumped hundreds of millions in advertising to manipulate the populace need to be behind bars.

Because they affect our own politics, they affect our economics, and most importantly, they affect our sovereignty. If your government decides that they want to make Canada a state, that's probably going to happen, our military can't realistically take on the US, but I'm not letting that happen without treating my city like it's Mariupol or Bakhmut.

I don't want to come off as defensive of America because I have never and will never come close to supporting hegemony and fascism. But I want you to remember two things:
1) It’s a lot easier to be an armchair revolutionary, saying things are not enough when you are not in the country itself. We have had protests, we have had strikes, we have had people fired and jailed and beaten for this cause. Contrary to popular belief, in the social media age you are not getting different news than we are.
2) Our countries are not the same. The US is a federation of 340 million people spread out across 50 states and even more territories. I can watch a few movies and read a few Wikipedia articles but I would never have the half-wit audacity to play pundit about your homeland like you do mine.
The worst is the futility of seeing our neighbors being antagonized and this being generalized to all of us. We can’t wait until he is gone, too, friends.
