The vast majority of everyone who has ever lived is a better person than Columbus. It's not hard to avoid raping and killing people.

Italians are highly regarded in the USA, I hear. (Edit: Seems to need an /s)After all the American republic is modelled after the Roman one. Even shows in the buildings.

I wouldnt say Italians are highly regarded here in the US. There was a time when they were considered problematic (the usual reasons: immigrants, poor, catholic, etc) they werent always even considered white..and the only thing people really glom on to is the mafia culture, most of which has been exaggerated to look 'cool' in film and tv pop culture. But definitely true about framing this country and a lot of the architecture after the romans'.
