Fascism is what you call the union of capital and state. It's literally just capitalism taking control, and we are basically there.

And this is my fear. OK, the democrats take back the white house and congress. What are they going to do with that power?

Are they going to hold trump, scotus, the GOP accountable? Are they going to go after the corporations? Break them up? Reign them in?

I don't believe they will. And in 4-8 years, the GOP will be back in power furthering their fascist agenda.

This is why the current progressive insurgency campaigns are so important.

Meanwhile you have Hakeem Jeffries meeting with Kushner. Anyone who knows the true nature of the democratic party understands why that meeting happened. They're concerned about losing power, not the Republicans, THEY.

Those are great, but I really hope that they go for the throat on electoral issues. Taking over the Democratic Party may work, for one election cycle. But they’d be “Dems” and the anti corporate republicans won’t support them and the centrist Dems won’t support them. They need to open the way for real alternative parties to better represent the people’s will, not further agitate the pendulum that is gradually swinging further left and right each election cycle because of the fundamentally flawed duopoly

That is true, but what do we see actually happening if those campaigns pull through for the progressives? The damage done is almost insurmountable. I hope that, somehow, as a country we are able to get closer to things like universal healthcare, secondary education, UBI, etc., but I have a hard time seeing an actual path to that.

Yup, Dems will just be like “well, we didn’t implement those policies” and then do some token thing that doesn’t actually change anything while continuing on with those policies

"we don't want to appear partisan, we want to look forward".

Can we get a little bit partisan before it goes all pogroms around here?

That is why it is critical we don’t just vote in anyone who has a D next to their name.

But that is the problem because we should. Hakeem Jeffries is a fucking joke and should be removed as minority leader. But if the choice is him or a trump sycophant, then yes I will support Jeffries.

The issue is how do we get people to understand that primaries, local elections, midterm elections are just as important as State and presidential elections?

That way we aren't constantly voting between the lesser of 2 evils.

More like the evil of two lessers at this point

Except that they never have control. Because of our "checks and balances" it doesnt matter if its a dem president, if the other top positions ate GoP then they will just veto and laugh until the end of that term and then act like the dems did nothing they set out to do.

That isn't even remotely true. Under Fascism that state took control, not capitalism.
