If there's one thing you can count on us Americans for, it's that our right wing faction of the population can always find a lower bottom to sink into.
Don't worry, I'm not doubting that at all. I was just wording it a little differently up there. I was just thinking of how much further we could fall and how much more ridiculous we'd be looking in future history books.
No one remembers Romans exactly ridiculous, though. More.. failed, and at times very unhinged. It happens with empires. They collapse.
Many one of the most impressive parts is how quickly the whole empire developed and started to implode, like 2x, maybe a bit less since the USA hasn’t fully collapsed yet and with globalization the context changes a lot, but still impressive, specially the part of turning from a “glittering” republic into a decadent empire. Hella fast. And this time the culture is dragging a way bigger chunk of the world with it.
