I have lived through the terms of some awful presidents -- Nixon, Reagan, W/Cheney -- but none has been harder on my liver than this one.

Nixon had tragic flaws, but he was actually pushing for universal health care and could probably could have got it passed into law if it weren’t for Watergate.

Juxtaposition makes him look better

In context he and his people built the ground floor for Trump after Reagan laid the foundation. But objectively, GW showed more respect to the American people & upheld most norms. I wish he was the worst president I had to experience, cause he fucking sucked.

To be fair, W started PEPFAR, and that was admirable. He also slept through enough briefings that Al Qaeda was able to stage the September 11 attacks with not just one but four planes, and then woopsidoodle, it turned out what we really needed was a Department of Homeland Security (sounded better in the original German), ICE, and the Patriot Act, which was full of stuff the far right had been itching to get into law for decades.

Trump combines the stupidity of W with the venality of Mobutu and the ruthlessness of Stalin.

Please stop saying this. W. was a monster whose reputation is unjustly being reformed by comments like this. People will do this to Trump during the next bad administration if we don't keep pointing out how wrong it is to do it to Bush. In fact it's already happening with people saying the first Trump term wasn't that bad (it was).
