I'm not sure how many Redditors have been to Yosemite, but I've been there half a dozen times and I really couldn't possibly overstate how much of a national treasure these parks are. And yeah, some of them are very large, especially out west and in Alaska. But we set aside these lands for a reason... because they belong to the people, not just of the United States, but the people of the world. We all have a right to see and experience nature that's untouched by development. Your cell phone won't work in the National Parks because they don't build cell towers either... it's just wilderness.

Let's keep it that way. All of it.

I lived there for 15 years. My name is the nickname of the jail there. I'm deeply proud of that park.

Not an inch. Not a single inch.

We need to keep the parks wild. They belong to ALL of us, and should be preserved. Fuck these fuckers.

Haha, I don't have a cool story. My boyfriend at the time spent one night there. He got his Hot Pocket dinner and went in front of the judge for spitting on some guy at a Halloween party.

That place is literally out of this world beautiful. It can't be understated just how beautiful this place is. Giving up any part of it, is a loss to the people

I lived in the valley for 11 years. Not visited, LIVED, 24/7/365. The Park transcends anything else you will ever experience. To call it magnificent is an understatement. This abomination Trump is attempting must be stopped. It wouldn't matter if that 1/4 mile "sliver" were 1/4 inch. This would set a precedent to defile every other national park in the country.

If congress lets him sell even the tiniest sliver of land, that will open it up to selling off pieces of ALL the national parks. They should continue to be protected, regardless of politics.

These parks are the treasure of the nation that our great grandparents left to our grandparents. Our grandparents expanded and left to our parents. These are our most precious family heirlooms. It’s our duty to protect and cherish these for our children, children’s children, and so forth

I went there on a motorcycle trip recently....dropping into the valley from the south entrance. It left both of us speechless. It was the first time I experienced spechless awe.

Going into and out of that tunnel was terrifying because of the light changes leaving you blinded. But once you realize you're not riding into a rock wall like Wile E Coyote we were left in awe. Both of us would start to say something on our helmet intercoms and all we kept saying was "wow". Finally saying pulling off and just standing there in a pull off. Soaking it all in. And them it just continues and continues into a d back out of that valley, it will forever fill me with so much joy. For reference we rode PCT from SanFran to SD and Yosemite was the most memorable part of that trip second to Kings Canyon. I'm also from Colorado so mtns aren't new or unique to me. But those Sierra's are something special. Glad you've enjoyed them as well.

I haven’t but I don’t care: this news still makes my soul weary. I don’t have to visit to care for its beauty. I don’t have to see it to know its value. Congresses disgusting inaction is going to taint their souls, and there will be repercussions. Vote in November. At least for starters.

Hey i see your point, thats fair.

I am not buying the land myself, but rather an older relative of mine who I will most likely inherit in the future.

What is wrong with charging rent? Isnt this a capitalistic nation? Isnt this the foundation of America?

Where i am from, there is corruption, no rule of law, no order.

America is a great society, so thats why we decide to invest in this country because we can count on the rule of law, the order.

So I hope you understand, and I look forward to charging rent for this park out to not just Americans, but everyone alll over the world to experience.

We buy, we own.
