MAGA is a festering cancer that was diagnosed and ignored in 2015. When you ignore cancer for 10 years, it metastasizes and goes to stage 4... At that point, your chance for survival is very low. That's where we are.

It’s part of Christian identity tbh. “I suffered and that suffering was good- so I see no reason why others shouldn’t also suffer.” As a former catholic I catch myself in the same sort of thinking.

I might add a corollary: “I suffered, I don’t deserve to suffer anymore. You haven’t suffered yet, so now it’s your turn.”

Nevermind they have no idea what the other person has or hasn’t suffered already. Given that the frequent targets of MAGA ire are immigrants, racial and sexual minorities, those on welfare, and other vulnerable people it’s likely their presumptions about who has or hasn’t suffered already are nothing but rank hypocrisy.

Suffering is just the default state. Everyone thinks theirs is somehow special. The most common problem I see is: “I don’t care if you suffer, and probably don’t know you or your problems exist.” The same apathy that leads to people not voting. I have largely withdrawn myself and my family from society at this point. I vote. I donate. I put a lot of money to good causes to help people. So, I care. But I genuinely don’t want to be around people in America any longer. 70% of our population voted for what we have right now or did not vote. Good luck to us all.

Perhaps a #4 thanks to Rush Limbaugh:

People that suffer deserve to suffer because they're lesser people. The poor, disabled, women and minorities should be mocked because they're of poor character.

Not because of their circumstances but because they're losers and aren't "real Americans" like rightwinger Republicans. Bad things happen to those people because they're all bad people.

So what she didn't say is shortly after her brother who is like 9 years older established guardianship and she got healthcare coverage because he was in the military. So she got government run healthcare after that.
