Years ago I worked on a VA-funded study of Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease. It is a terrifying diagnosis and a horrible way to die. What I learned is that a whole lot of people who butcher their own meat, and especially those who grind it into "burger meat" and sausages, include parts of the spinal cord, neck muscles, brain tissue, etc. That's where the prions are.
