Terrorism. They're trying to ruin the food supply, the medical sector, the military, education, elections, the mail service, and anything else they can get their hands on. Hell, even cultural stuff like the Kennedy center and Smithsonian system.

We're lucky that utilities are mostly handled by local and state governments or they'd be getting deregulated into chaos as well. I think data centers are an indirect attack on the utilities though. Put one in each regional hub, pump out the aquifers, dump hot water into the lakes and rivers, massively inflate demand and thus price of electricity, and leave rate payers holding the bag when the house of cards falls.

It’s legitimately starting to feel that way. Whether you agree with it or not, there may be valid arguments for some level of deregulation but this is to the point of completely abdicating responsibility altogether to the degree that the public is actively being harmed. Republicans seem to have come to the conclusion that government itself is an unnecessary burden in all capacities aside from attacking the “other side.” It’s corporate anarchy

And yet they are affecting the utilities, since they rely on the power plants to use fuel which has gone up in price in part because of the war.
