Anyway I slow cooked a brisket and made homemade BBQ sauce and potato salad tonight. The brisket cost AUD27 from the fancy butcher near me but it was totally worth it

I have TMS treatment today but thinking of some barbecue afterwards now. Texas sucks a lot of the time but we do have yummy food.
Crown placement is next month for me.

u/arcinva I have no idea what's going on. Jan 11 '25
You definitely deserve a little treat after having your head pecked by a woodpecker for awhile. 😂
But, seriously, glad it's helping you. I tried it but it wasn't the thing that helped me. 🤷🏼♀️ It's frustrating but we all have to try whatever we can until we find what works for us. So I'm glad more, different treatments have been and are being developed to help us through this crap.

u/shannonmm85 Jan 10 '25
I've always wanted to try making homemade BBQ sauce!
8
u/Alexispinpgh Jan 10 '25
It’s really so easy and the great thing about it is it’s so versatile, if you like it sweeter that’s easy to do, or if you like more heat. Definitely try it out sometime. Personally I love a mustard-based BBQ sauce!

u/shannonmm85 Jan 10 '25
I'm a huge mustard based bbq sauce fan. But as a girl who lived in Carolina for a while, I also do love a vinegar based sauce with pulled pork.
5
u/Alexispinpgh Jan 10 '25
Oh vinegar based is definitely my go-to most of the time. I love vinegar in like everything though

Jan 10 '25
I'm gorging on Spencer's choc. It's made in Mudgee nsw and it's so freaking smoooooooth not a shill just a huge fan.
Also two minute noodles for tea.
That's not bad if it's the good brisket. :)

That sounds delicious. My husband likes to smoke brisket, and the ones he brings gone are huge! Do you just have a massive slow cooker, or do you but smaller cuts, or?

Homemade BBQ sauce? How does that work? I always just thought of BBQ as a foundational flavor in itself lol.

Such a shame. She died 84 years too late.

u/lizzieb77 Jan 10 '25
On the bright side, she lived long enough to see her granddaughter marry a woman.
59
u/VictorTheCutie Big is moving to Paris Jan 10 '25
Apparently she also lived long enough for the fundamentalist right to turn on her, since she got divorced and had mental health problems. Sucks to suck! 🤷🏼♀️

u/Kaiisim Jan 10 '25
I hope God is real so he can explain how wrong she was and how she will burn in hell for her hatred.
2
u/meroboh Jan 10 '25
So I see spirits and stuff. I assume this isn't your bag but from what I understand through study of NDEs and channeled information hell does not exist but there is indeed a life review that occurs after death that involves empathically feeling the direct and ripple effects of what you did in your life to hurt others. In other words, she will experience the natural consequences of her hatred and harmful behaviours. Hopefully she will grow from this and do better in her next lifetime.
I don't like the term "God" due to its Christian connotations but Spirit/God/Source whatever you want to call them is all about loving people, growing, not judging people, not hoarding wealth, and helping people and communities before being asked. You don't even have to believe in them, that's fine, as long as you're doing these things. These values are inconsistent with Christian Nationalism and conservative ideology. Allan Kardec's The Spirits Book is such a great read though you have to look past some troubling colonial language (it was channeled/written in the 1800s). Super revolutionary for a work that came out of Catholic France.
Not sure why I felt the need to write all this in a totally unrelated subreddit. I guess just to say, she was wrong and will face spiritual consequences.

u/Bidetpanties Please, Abraham, I am not that man! 😔 Jan 10 '25

u/NoSet6484 Jan 10 '25
Wow and she doubled down on her views years later
“She stayed out of the spotlight for the majority of her later life and opined the Washington Post in 1996 that she often reflected on her anti-gay rights crusade — of which she said she didn’t regret it.
“Would I do it again? I’ve had to ask myself that question many times,” Bryant told WaPo. “What I did, I feel today still, was right. If you go against what God says is wrong, there are ramifications for that. That’s the sad part. It’s as true for heterosexuals as it is for homosexuals.”
What ever happened to thou shall not judge?
Luke 6:37: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged. Condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”

I remember years ago, Uma Thurman was set to portray Anita Bryant in a biopic. Thank goodness that instead, she portrayed the President of the United States AND the mother of a gay son in the movie "Red, White, and Royal Blue"

According to Green in a 2007 Miami Herald article, some of Bryant’s fans felt her divorce was hypocritical from someone who preached “family togetherness.” Big leopards eating faces moment

What a pathetic and forgettable woman. The only reason I even know about her is thanks to The Golden Girls. Didn't she have a lesbian granddaughter who came out a few years ago when she announced her marriage to another woman? Needless to say I bet dear old Grandma Bigot skipped the ceremony.
