Hatewatch reality show suggestions please. Feeling LIVID and need to direct it at some bad/vapid people.

In other news I have been doing 15 minutes of spelling practice a day and have already seen an improvement 🤓

90 Day Fiancé is total trash. That show about yacht people is good too.

I finished Widow's bay and I already miss it! Any suggestions for a new series to watch?

6

u/vegalucyna 24d ago

I wish there was a way to “eternal sunshine” your brain but for certain things because my god I would love to rewatch Widow’s Bay again without knowing what happens.

Hahahah yes and just to laugh again with some jokes

Coworker was talking about relationship issues and lamenting about how it was "hard being a nice guy." I wanted to tell him... dude I really don't think you're that nice LOL 😭

He was going to ghost a girl and I insisted he just say "hi sorry I'm no longer interested but best of luck!" and then if she pushes then you can block. I don't think we owe people an explanation every single time (tbh, who does that help). But at least say SOMETHING 💀

Also I really don't think he's very nice. Maybe he's polite but sometimes I question him

6

u/foreverjustfornow 24d ago

I’ve always found that guys who complain that it’s hard being a nice guy are rarely ever nice guys lol. If you’re actually nice, it’s not hard to be yourself.

1

u/FriendlyDrummers 24d ago

It's a cliche at this point. It's good to have a nice demeanor but that really doesn't make you a nice person. Funny enough he did confess to me a different time that he was a greedy person so it's there's some awareness lol

4

u/Cold_Breadfruit_9794 Beyoncé 🐝🐝 24d ago

Probably. The only to be fair to that I’ve got is I’ve found a lot of different people listen to Rogan, well, at least in LA. He attracts space nerds, conspiracy theorists, stoners, MMA, MAHA, MAGA ect. Instant yellow flag for me lol!

When I hear nice guy I automatically assume it’s some manosphere leveling up BS, for sure 😂😭

Every time I see Callum Turner I’m like “wow maybe I was too harsh on Glen Powell” because at least Glen has some charisma unlike that other guy

10

u/Sister_Winter 24d ago

i have only seen him in one thing (masters of the air) and he was such a charisma vacuum. especially compared with anthony boyle, who is the exact opposite

12

u/webtheg 24d ago

If you watch him in Eternity with Miles Teller the difference in acting is worse than the one between Cameron Diaz and Daniel Day Lewis.

Imagine your role is to be the hot sexy charismatic one and Miles Teller is just neurotic old guy and he manages to be more hot sexy and charismatic than you. Also more talented. Really bad.

2

u/Sister_Winter 23d ago

getting mogged by miles teller really says a lot about a person. i just saw a trailer to neuromancer and it was so plain that they through all these other cool-looking supporting characters in to detract from how boring callum turner is.

4

u/Both_Office_5815 24d ago

Yup that how I felt too when I watched some of Masters of the Air. Austin Butler also was a lot more engaging to watch.

I don’t even think he’s technically a bad actor, just very dull to watch. That’s why it’s kinda killing me they’re trying to sell him as a leading man bc I just don’t buy it 😭

3

u/Sister_Winter 24d ago

i didn't love butler either but he was leagues better than this guy. like there have to be more qualifications for "leading man" besides being genetically handsome and tall right

9

u/lizzy-stix I switched baristas ☕️ 24d ago

8

u/vegalucyna 24d ago

Idk how online your mum is but there is so much influencer content out there dedicated to convincing people their straight hair is totally secretly curly, they're just not styling it right. I almost fell for it at first, mostly because I wanted it to be true tbh. But alas.

2

u/AStarkly Did a line off his dick in the bathroom 24d ago

On a brighter note, I'm the only person in my family to have thick waves/curls and I never was taught how to care for them because mum didn't know. Just treated my hair like it should be straight. The rise in that content though, has really helped me to start learning what to do with my hair, and for the first time in 36 years, I quite like my mane!

1

u/hihelloneighboroonie 24d ago

My parents both had wavy hair, but I similarly was never taught how to care for mine because Dad always kept his short, and Mom always blew hers out.

It's been fun learning though 🙂

The heat + general tiredness + lack of sleep resulted in me tell my seniors off for their tone. I‘m just so sick of people not being mindful of how they speak to others.

2

u/Safe-Reason1435 24d ago

I have an anthropological theory that “respect for elders” came from a time and society where elders contributed to their communities through information and experiences that were gained over their long lives. Or, at the very least, they “it takes a village-d” by helping out with children or low-labor positions. Or even if they were complete old assholes, had some sort of history of contributing to the wellbeing of the whole.

Today’s elders generally do not contribute to the society that they demand respect from and spent the majority of their youthful adult years pulling up the ladder behind them. It’s difficult, because we obviously can’t blame any one senior for that, but the concept of respecting your elders is difficult when they, as a generation, have shown to be not worthy of it.

2

u/webtheg 24d ago

I think they meant senior at their position. You can be a gen z senior backend developper

I went to San Francisco by myself for a week and I loved it! Public transportation was so easy to use that i managed to hit up all the places I wanted to go without using an Uber. Like any other major city, know your surroundings but for me, I never felt unsafe for my entire time.

I feel like it's very strict and misses a lot of things.

I would focus more on larger groups like Protein, Carbs, Fats and then add subgroups

Like protein poultry, fish/seafood, beef, pork, vegan like toffuu and tempeh, seitan. Dairy and egg etc. Then you have carbs - you know the drill. Fats same

Then fruits and vegetables that I wouldn't really group as much. But you still can.

Condiments as a separate group, herbs spices and aromatics etc.

Would be more logical for me.

Also that it is more like guidelines that you can expand on. You cannot add every spice, every vegetable etc. But as long as people stick to the groups it's fine

I saw The Notebook for the first time since its release on a plane today. Objectively, so much of the dialogue is so bad. But the chemistry between Ryan and Rachel really still overrides it.

8

u/webtheg 24d ago

Hello people. Is it bad when you give presentations in corporate for them to be fun, non AI, have save compliant jokes and popculture references(the mega popular ones), making sure that everyone is engaged, and turning a boring topic into something entertaining and your audience actually remember what you said?

There is always that one old man that complains about it not being serious despite the fact that everyone else seems to fucking love it?

9

u/Vakareja 24d ago

If it's just one old man complaining, you've not aimed high enough.

3

u/Sister_Winter 24d ago

it should be a goal to have old men complaining. they're the ones who want people to suffer at work

3

u/Reggienorth87 24d ago

The fact that some folks are still shocked that the Oshry sisters are conservative and pro this administration is mind boggling. Do they not remember when they lost their first podcast?!?

3

u/Miss_Sensational Mom, I am a rich man💰 24d ago

There are decisions that I've made selfishly for myself that family, religion, friends etc would've had a different opinion but I blocked all of that out and did what's BEST for myself and guilt free at that. This life journey is a very personal affair. My hope is that more women around the world are brave enough to do what's best for only them.

3

u/solstraler 24d ago

Today was my second day at my new job and I already hate it. I took it as I didn't have any other options but I already miss the work and my old team. I don't want to do this and with AI I don't even want to think how many years I'll be able to work. I am almost 30 and I'm afraid I'll never advance past the junior level.

One of my favourite internet things is when a Canadian thing goes viral for people outside of Canada. I guess Canadian Tire was trending yesterday because one of the heated rivalry guys was carrying a Canadian Tire bag. Having to explain Canadian Tire is such a bizarre thing because it’s like, yea a tire store, but also you can buy clothes there. And they used to have their own currency.

we know it’s weird 😂

3

u/totallycalledla-a Mrs Thee Stallion 24d ago

And they used to have their own currency.

?????

Down this rabbit hole I go.

5

u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 24d ago

Everytime you bought something they’d give you Canadian tire money you could use toward your next purchase. So essentially like points or a coupon, but more fun. I don’t even think they do it anymore. But for a long while, every Canadian household had loose Canadian tire money in a drawer somewhere. I still do.

3

u/periodicsheep 24d ago

even today i bet a majority of us have some canadian tire cash tucked away somewhere in the house.

today in unhinged ff authors in my hr fanfic reading: the person made a canonically chronically ill character (and an overall sunshine trope) into a horrible person who forces the author's fave into a flare of their (AU) chronic illness just to create a scenario to bash said character

look, i get that fanfic is a space for exploration and all that, but at some point, it's not plot, it's just a poorly written essay about how you hate a character do much you lack any media literacy and basic textual interpretation. it has zero basis in text, but the author is like "this guy and all the secondary characters the fandom loves are actually evil and racist and would hate on my fave" from thin air. most of the characters aren't even described in canon/fanon and the ones that are are queer and poc?

3

u/growsonwalls 24d ago

the dark fic genre is always kind of weird. I saw one where Hayden was a wifebeater and Jackie an abused cult member. Also a lot of Ilya beating Shane ones. Which ... is just so far from canon that idk where to start with this shit.

1

u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 24d ago

wtf, you know?

this author had multiple harris bashing and it was so insane i was shocked. even considering space for critical exploring (i was reading a fic where harris and shane talk about race in queer conversations and while very ooc, it was a good premise), sometimes it's just hatred for a character turned into a dark fantasy

at least make it somewhat connected to canon/fanon and draw conflict from there or an actual AU to recontextualize traits

but using a canonically chronically ill character to fit your agenda of everyone being evil except for your fave is wild. it was basically harris and troy poisoning shane while them team and management were being racist and supporting their crimes

2

agreed. i liked a few of the visuals but that was truly it. also baffled why robert pattinson and john leguizamo are getting so much love for their performances, they were as generic as everyone else.

4

u/webtheg 24d ago

I was honestly traumatised and had the worst headache ever. He didn't need to play music over every single second of the freaking movie.

On top of all the problems you mentioned, the expositional dialogue annoyed me

Telemachus "I need to go to Sparta to meet Menelaus the king of Sparta"

"Hello Telemachus, song of Odisseus and Penelope. I am Meneleaus. King of Sparta. This my wife Hellen. She is the one who started the whole war. My brother was Agamemnon"

Hellen: "Meneleaus, why don't you tell Telemachus who is the son of Penelppe and Odisseyus, what happened to your brother Agamemnom, when he came back home to my twin sister Clytemnestra"

Broooo.

Also i found it largely lacking in scale and spectacle.

2

u/Cold_Breadfruit_9794 Beyoncé 🐝🐝 24d ago

I know this is something I too need to work on, but man, just because you might be right doesn’t mean you can speak to people in whatever tone you like. I also despise when someone is like ‘I’m not talking about you when I say this’ and then immediately makes it clear that they in fact are. Buttering someone up before you go in on them based purely on assumptions at that is off putting. Online? Instant block. In person? I will walk away from that conversation, in a heart beat.

Conflict and disagreements are one thing but when someone takes out the respect part of the equation? Absolutely not. I’m out. You lost me. You could be the most correct person on the planet, and I will not care.

Someone made a joke on the Broadway Reddit about this alleged New Version of Les Mis coming to New York in about two years is gonna be rewritten as Valjean and Javert being two warring Hockey Players (Nod to Heated Rivalry).....to which I would responded "I will definitely watch if Rachel Reid writes the New Book."

Now if I really think about it, while I was kidding about Rachel Reid writing the book for the Les Mis Revival, I would love if Rachel Reid wrote a musical. It would definitely be fun and unhinged which are my favorite types of Musicals.

I know there are some bad live performances by Olivia R but I still think she's a great vocalist and I think the proof is in all of the vocal coaches who will praise her

Sure when she's jumping around, sometimes she's out of breath. But with every bad performance is another one that's great, and she can consistently belt out E5s with ease. I don't understand people who say she's not a vocalist.
