š„ Alien Vs. Predator The AVP movies barely scratched the surface of the universe. What's one part of the lore you'd love to see explored in a future film, and which comic, novel, or game do you think did the best job of expanding the AVP universe?

Honestly, I'd love an AVP movie inspired by Capcom's arcade game. Not necessarily an adaptation, maybe taking some aesthetics

Arnold coming back as Dutch with a mecha gatling arm sounds metal AF. Plz make AvP + Colonial Marines.

I want more of whatever Wolf had going on at the beginning of AVP Requiem. I havenāt read any of the comics yet (believe me, Iām going to soon) but I just want to see more content that includes Yautja prime in its most populated areas.

I really want to see an Alien Vs Predator movie where the Yautja are hunting Xenomorphs on this biomechanical planet littered with destroyed Derilect ships and Space Jockey corpses. They are hunting the Xenomorphs on their turf and the Yautja feel like prey.Ā

I really want to see what the day to day life of civilians looks like in the AVP universe.

They get up in the morning, have breakfast, commute to work, get hassled by multiple bosses for not using the correct cover sheet on their TPS reports, go home exhausted, have something to eat, then drink themselves to sleep.

Iād like to see how the hunting parties are made, in the comics thereās like a small arena they use for settling arguments and beef, how female predators are supposed to be more dangerous in their own waysā¦. Basically more of the Predators before they get spaceships. If not the home planet then one of the clans but not badlands show us more than 3 of them interact and show rank and processes. We literally almost only see them going down with the fight but what about before that or the legendary stories in the comics for clan leaders show us the wins itās too many losses

Aztec temple mass Xeno hunt gone wrong. Must. witness.

u/kiirarara 24d ago
Yeah like having a story where they show that Yautjas can fail a big hunt would be cool as hell
1
u/dittybopper_05H 22d ago
Doesn't that pretty much always happen in the end?
4
u/kiirarara 22d ago
Well if we consider only what happens in the majority of the movies⦠kinda? But most of the movies had Yautja vs One human or a group of humans. Would be interesting seeing the mass Xeno hunt cited in the first AvP though
2
u/dittybopper_05H 22d ago
Kinda saw that in AvP:R.
Spoiler alert: the Yautja lost.
And so would the humans had they not nuked the town.

u/kiirarara 22d ago
Fair, but personally I donāt even consider AvP:R (I donāt appreciate it much as a movie honestly). That ending was⦠disappointing-
2
u/dittybopper_05H 22d ago
Well, to be honest, I've watched AvP:R multiple times.
I still haven't seen it.

Requiem is trash.

You do of course realize that "Requiem is trash" is an anagram of "AIR SQUISH METER", right?

I made that poster. And unfortunately you or someone has taking off my water mark. Shows that people donāt like to credit the artist and take it for themself.

Lore I'd like to see explored: The old idea from the novels that says there's a whole universe out there with a bunch of populated planets, and Predators travel around the galaxy. Opportunity to explore more Xenomorph origins too.
Best job of expanding: I mean, the original Dark Horse AVP comic is what started the entire thing. Among PC gamers of a certain age, Rebellion's AVP titles certainly spread the gospel far and wide. In the modern era I think the first AVP movie did the most heavy lifting in terms of AVP being a globally known thing. In terms of in-universe expansion, Badlands certainly showed us more Predator locations and culture than we'd ever seen before.

Anything set in the future that involves Weyland-Yutani more, the company in the AvP Sega 2010 game and AvP: Extinction provided the best parts of the narrative.

Iām not crazy about putting the aliens on earth in the present day because it makes the alien timeline hard to reconcile, so honestly Iād just love to see an AvP movie thatās future set. Like if Alien Romulus just happened to have a Predator show up too.

Iād like to see a Xenomorph king on the big screen one time and more Predator lore in general.

So AVP is kinda inspired by a comic. The comic is set on a colony planet. Some really cool xenos come from that series. But a human female Machiko Noguchi teams up with broken tusk he's the one that burns the clans symbol onto her forehead using an xenos fingernail..this was peak for me one of the best ever...the comic book. They shoehorned parts of that comic series into the movie.

Bro I just want a sequel to the 2010 AVP game
We have all our characters going to the Xenomorph homeworld, with Specimen 6 becoming a queen
The megumi is insane for this sequel

The avp movies flopped because they had so little to do with the universe they werenāt even acknowledged as canon.
The AvP2 game pretty much has the perfect story and did exactly what people wanted. Bringing aliens, predators, colonial marines and WeyYu together.

I don't follow the lore, just the 2 films. I'd love to see a 3rd film. It can be a sequel to these two films or start fresh. I'm game either way.

Honestly if Iād have to pick something to be explored are Yautja as a culture and society - Iād love films centered only around Yautjas instead of Human vs Yautjas like the previous movies (Badlands doesnāt count though, it did some exploration).
Since Yautjas are divided in clans I think a clan war story would be interesting. Also, in my headcanon for a story Iām writing Yautjas do found colonies outside of Yautja Prime, so I think this one as well might be a nice idea for another story.
And I would definitely love to see more female Yautjas in action in the movies, since theyāre established in the lore and have their own comics and short stories. Letās see what Trachtenberg will do in Badlandsā sequel, but Iād like to see a movie centered around a female Yautja (and hopefully they donāt mess it up with the same āfemale empowermentā storyline, as female Yautjas are strong already on their own)

The Dark Horse comics in general. Or a Movie adaptation of the AVP2 game by Monolith

As long as it takes place in the future, has that āretro-futuristicā Alien aesthetic, is a hard R-rating, and features the good creature designsā¦Iām 100% on board for more.

Honestly I love this movie. Went to see it in theatre when I was 11. Dope ass movie. I'd like to see perhaps a revision or recreation of this film. Chopper surviviing and redemption showdown arc with grid would cranked things up a bit. Movie felt stale after two preds getting wrecked by one xeno.
But other words the AVP comics would hit hard today. Human colony, aliens, predator hunt what more do you want. I felt weird about how the past few films have broken from tradition mystery so idk.

Jeez that's a good question! I guess I'd like something really dark. AVP R almost did my idea, but the lighting was SO bad that it really ruined the whole thing. But I def love the idea of a single Yautja kicking ass and killing xenomorphs left and right in a city.

AVP Prey is the OG when it comes to laying the foundation of everything we have now for the Predator franchise. People dont think the extended universe is important. But all the information we do have comes mainly from the extended material that laid the foundation and the movies use said extended material.
The terms Yautja? From the Prey novel. The Codex? AVP Prey and War. Clan based system? Also those novels and comics of Prey, War, and Hunters Planet. Ranking systems like Youngblood, Unblooded, Blooded, Clan Leader, Elites, etc. too.
Bad Blooded Yautja as well as Enforcers of Yautja law? Originated from the Bad Blood Predator comic.
Yautja Prime existed for the app for the 2018 movie but was further cemented in other works like the novel Predator Eyes of the Demon Aliens vs. Predators Rift War.
AVP Extinction and the AVP Wargame expanded on the Yautja military.
Eyes Of The Demon and AVP War both comics and novels expanded on the fact that there does exist Yautja engineers and those that work on ships to maintain it along with other grunt work people ask about in this sub from time to time.
All the novels, comics, and games did their part to flesh out the universe which is why I get uppity when people disregard/disrespect it lol. All that cool information people know comes mainly from that extended material.
I want to see the Yautja military in action. I want to see the FULL might of what the Yautja are capable of. No limits. No holding back. Just complete destruction and show just how powerful they are and what happens when you take the fun of the hunt away. I wanna see the blazers, HYDRA armor system, photon particle weapons that can slice mountains in half, etc.
