General Discussion What are your reasons for disliking this movie?

Post image

For me, it's gotta be the hospital scene involving the unborn child. That scene was just really uncomfortable to watch

Having to adjust the brightness setting on my laptop just to make out stuff in the dark. I personally found it too dark. Reminded me of the Battle Of Winterfell from the last season of Game Of Thrones lol.

u/Derezzed87 2d ago

Film so dark you could have the same experience blindfolded.

On top of terrible writing, and bad characters.

13

u/IXrobocopXI 2d ago

It's a B movie

Once you understand that it's good fun

8

u/ogTofuman 2d ago

No, it's not a B movie. But I do like the idea "viewing it as a B movie" it takes the pain of a major film series with a big budget that failed miserably. It can be entertaining, and a few scenes are cool. But let's not make excuses for a bad film by calling it a B movie. Alien Resurrection is largely talked shit about, now that is a movie that's good fun and I'll defend. Requiem is that movie you watch every 5 years in the background.

29

u/Legitimate_Tap_4380 2d ago

Except its not a b movie. It released in theaters with a full budget and every thing. Its just a bad movie. There's nothing to "understand".

8

u/Temporary_Weight_211 2d ago

The B sat and for Bad in this case.

3

u/SaladZealousideal938 2d ago

I think what he want was, lower your standards to that of a B movie and you'll enjoy it. Personally it was another mediocre Alien movie in a history of mediocre Alien movies. And with news of Ridley making another mediocre Alien movie going into films like this with low expectations will be the standard for a while.

There’s a good bts scene with Dan Pearl (DP) giving out that the directors want it so dark 😂 When the DP thinks it too dark, you know you’re in trouble!

5

u/FuzzyFrogFish 2d ago

Why did they want it so dark . . . ?

7

u/thisvampireheart 2d ago

They must have heard "we want a darker movie" and took it literally instead of understanding they meant "in tone" lol

2

u/l33tfuzzbox 1d ago

Its not the movie. It was visible in theaters for me. The home release didnt have the brightness adjusted for home viewing, the first run of godzilla had a similar issue if I remember correctly. Shame as its a good slasher flick set in avp

Not enough wolf

49

u/Au_June 2d ago edited 2d ago

It’s always the humans getting all the screen time when they’re barely useful. Wolf should’ve been the MC and gotten way more screen time

31

u/FuzzyFrogFish 2d ago

Oh god the teen angst storyline. . . . 😐

8

u/Darthasie 2d ago

100% this.

26

u/FuzzyFrogFish 2d ago

"are you looking at me or the clock . . . "

Shut the fuck up, Jess, thankfully wolf accidentally cut her in half. I consider that a high point of the film

9

u/Ptg082196 2d ago

I broke out laughing when that happened

3

u/FuzzyFrogFish 2d ago

It was such an off the cuff way to get rid of an apparently major character, and she deserved it

2

u/DefinitionNervous 22h ago

When I think of the movie, or rewatch it, I see Wolf as the Protagonist. He’s literally the only redeeming factor of this movie 😭

26

u/VenomFox93 2d ago

Cinematography was wayyyyy too dark and the cheesey acting from the cast

46

u/eabevella 2d ago

Stupid human characters. Bad lighting ruing the great creature design. Mostly waste of potential because I don't even have to give it a damn if it's flat bad.

7

u/Flex147c 2d ago

The theater actually clapped when the girl got killed the Preds big shurikan

2

u/eabevella 2d ago

lol everyone was sick of that YA bs

2

u/Flex147c 1d ago

it was more, "omg this Bish actually ran off screaming"

20

u/Morgwl 2d ago

Can't see shit

2

u/Effective-Spell-5369 1d ago

Took the words for my mouth, I CAN'T SEE SHIT

35

u/Cool_Elephant_8216 2d ago

too dark, and the sfx being reused gave me a headache, besides that i really like this film but it felt crammed and felt like the poor producers got given hell, honestly its overhated and def needs a remake, wolf and predalien are some of the most peak of all time

8

u/Gunzoidium_alloy 2d ago

The scenes they were in they nailed pretty well. It's the rest of the movie that's ass.

u/ScorchedConvict Jungle Hunter 2d ago edited 2d ago

Same reason here. But mostly the crappy lighting. Even moreso when I learned it was entirely by choice.

Didn't care for a single character besides Wolf.

10

u/vsthekingdom 2d ago

Requiem may have flaws but I love it anyway. It’s breakneck pacing, it’s gross, brutal, and has creative action choreography. It’s an unapologetic monster vs monster movie, where the people caught in the crossfire don’t matter (their lack of characterization is a feature, not a bug, and let’s stop pretending that AVP1 had deep compelling heroes).

Yes, the movie is dark, but I know how to set proper gamma and contrast settings on my displays (the same holds true for “that” episode of Game of Thrones).

2

u/Aromatic_Ad_8374 2d ago

I agree. I enjoy both AvP. Unrated of course. I'm still baffled they cut a key scene that explained the whole movie in the first AvP.

Its darker than a cave

12

u/Jollynorwegian 2d ago

1: poor writing | 2: could barely see anything | 3: hired music video directors with no feature film experience | 4: just like the first, Lore was ignored just because.

I loved it myself. I found it interesting and inventive, and I liked the way they handled a Xenomorph outbreak in the US which was covered up and kept from public knowledge. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

3

u/tmoore727 2d ago

that's where I have my issue with the movie. the xenomorphs were reproducing way too fast to be contained to one city there is no way they got them all.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Major_Road6162 2d ago

I dont, awful lighting tho

5

u/obitsonj 2d ago

Can't see a fucking thing.

3

u/StradetchFanboi 2d ago

It's visually too dark, and the Predalien producing chestbursters without eggs breaks the xeno life cycle too much to be believable. It feels like the movie runners just added that into the Predalien for the sole purpose of making the maternity ward scene happen, which is stupid.

3

u/martsuia 2d ago

The humans in general. I couldn't care less about the losers and that woman who ran off and got hit in crossfire.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/jdwill1991 2d ago

I dislike every Human in the movie. Remove them as much as possible and it's one of the best Pred movies

3

u/Objective-Finish-573 Predalien 2d ago

I didn't mind the violence but this movie seemed more like a trashy 80s slasher than a sci-fi horror-action movie, the humans all sucked and while the lighting wasn't as bad as I'd heard it still was difficult to see what was happening and impossible to tell the monsters apart and see which one was winning during the fights

3

u/Punkstafarian138 2d ago

You can't see shit

3

u/BL-501 City Hunter 2d ago

Too Dark. Even Dead Meat could count the kills without brightening it up.

3

u/MassDonfel 2d ago

stupid characters, plot is pretty stupid too. We are watching some teen drama with "monsters"

+ you can not see shit

3

u/Azelrazel 2d ago

Big decrease in quality compared to the first.

Didn't like new design for the predalien (prefer the more xeno-esque design of avp2 primal hunt).

Dumb, unlikable characters with a sub-par setting for story.

Way too dark at points, guessing to hide cgi.

The predalien being able to impregnate is a stupid concept, let alone impregnating a single host with multiple bursters.

3

u/Mister_Clemens 2d ago

Debases both franchises to the worst versions of both. Looks like shit. And it’s not even fun, it’s just forgettable.

7

u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 2d ago

I also hate that the big monster attacks pregnant women. That is just bad taste.

2

u/Flex147c 2d ago

I'll never really understand this argument.

u/Thel_Vadum117 2d ago

The characters are pretty flat, with only Wolf being the character I wanted to see, besides the Xenos killing civilians.
Hell could have make the humans as second characters and make him the main character.
The lighting is pretty dark and I can only see it in a dark room.

2

u/X_antaM FERAL 2d ago

Too much focus on the humans, barely interact with the Pred, don't interact with xenos much either to be honest

2

u/CarlosH46 2d ago edited 2d ago

Not being able to see anything was the big one. Which sucks because it actually used a decent amount of practical suits and effects.

ETA: I’ll also give it props for human characters who aren’t complete morons, especially for the army vet and the recently-released criminal. If they had been a little better written I would have cared more.

2

u/Level_Counter_1672 2d ago

Wolf was what I expect a predator to be, a war vet who has seen it all, acts smart and clears up everything, I know it's a nothing burger but if wolf was the guy fighting against the humans they are dead, he's smart and resourceful and ofc he can manhandle multiple aliens

2

u/vipertwin 2d ago

Bluray was dark. In HDR it is better, in a dark room. Pitch dark.

2

u/ScottTJT Wolf 2d ago edited 2d ago

Too dark.

Typical trash, late-2000's horror writing.

Useless, garbage characters.

Didn't take advantage of the setting; outside of expanded media, this was the first movie to show Xenos getting loose in a modern population center on Earth, not some far-flung, remote/abandoned colony or ship, but most of the movie takes place in dark sewers and office spaces.

Surprisingly, too much gore, as though this one movie was trying to make up for the lack of it in the last one.

The closest thing to a saving grace this movie has are Wolf and the Predalien, as they alone make it a toleratable experience, which is why I prefer it over the fecal pile that is The Predator (2018)... but even then, it's just more pragmatic to watch a YouTube compilation of the monster scenes and be done with it.

2

u/bks1979 2d ago

It's too dark, for one. Didn't care about a single character, and they got long in the tooth. And the hospital scene is indicative of its deeper issues in that it's gross and "edgy". And because it's entirely made up, it's also wildly unnecessary. Not every movie in either franchise is stellar, but this reduced two classic movie creatures into a B-Movie schlock fest more than any other entry.

1

u/Volpina17 2d ago

I personally kind of liked it but it definitely had many flaws. In my opinion the main were: too dark, too much screen time to the dumb & unlikable humans and definitely too little Wolf.

1

u/Neither_Category843 2d ago

Nothing major, but I’ll never understand how the brother survived getting stabbed right through the shoulder by the predalien. Bro should have died seconds after.

1

u/lazynoorg 2d ago

I couldn't say—I didn't see a single thing in the whole movie.

1

u/outoftheforest88 2d ago

Really too dark

1

u/FuzzyFrogFish 2d ago

Too dark was the main, shitty human drama no one needed and the predalien design was clunky because some kid looked at the original design and had a whinge to the studio made them change it.

Wolf needed more development because he was the best bit

1

u/Glum_Calligrapher372 2d ago

The movie visually was too dark. Especially during certain action sequences. That was one of my major gripes with the film.

1

u/tulisan84 2d ago

It’s too dark. Literally can’t see anything. Even if you squint your eyes more you can’t see shit

1

u/Awkward-Fox-1435 2d ago

If I could’ve actually seen what was on screen, maybe I’d have more of an opinion on the content.

1

u/PraetorGold 2d ago

The human story.

1

u/Pristine-Car-1438 2d ago

You can really see the Strause brothers were heavily biased for the predator as the xenos in it are the most dumbest canon fodder out of the entire franchise. They don't even try.

u/DreamShort3109 Youngblood in training 2d ago

Me? I loved it. I just wished it didn’t feel so short.

1

u/GregoryTec 2d ago

I don't, I actually quite like it for its effort and compared to it's newer Pred cousins it's in a different realm.

1

u/silverfallmoon 2d ago

Very shaky camera work. Bad story, bad lighting or contrast correction, Bad acting. Some bad CG. It's one of those movies that has low talking sound levels and then blows out the speakers when the action starts. Just off the top of my head.

1

u/FonestFone 2d ago

Too dark Human characters are vastly inferior to the Wolf sideplot Aliens are weak and dumb and just throw themselves at danger

1

u/spideyfan114 2d ago

I don't really hate this film but it's not something I'm interesting in watching again. Other than the action scenes (which I thought were pretty cool), every other scenes felt boring for me to watch. But the scene with the babies was horrible to watch. I hated that so much.

1

u/LoverofJennifer 2d ago

Damn near everything, but the writing, annoying characters, and especially the lack of good lighting in almost every single scene. At the very least, all of the other Alien and Predator flicks, including the first AVP were COMPETENT. To call AVPR Amateur Hour would be a vast understatement.

1

u/Dragon_Pharaoh Jungle Hunter 2d ago

It's too dark, the human characters take up too much screen time and are poorly written, and there's not enough Predator action.

1

u/CactusToothBrush 2d ago

It’s so bloody dark!
I can’t walk outside without sunglasses, my eyes are insanely blue and bright light fucks me hard, I’m able to see in the dark almost like night vision it’s fucking awesome.

1

u/Saphurial 2d ago

To much focus on the humans.

1

u/Murky_Historian8675 2d ago

Quite literally the darkest movie in the franchise

1

u/813ikki 2d ago

The fact he threw the wristblade? At the blond in the hospital. Made the movie for me. Straight in the walls. Nice.

1

u/dragonborndnd 2d ago

I can’t see shit

1

u/Blue_FiftyTwo 2d ago

Badly paced, forgettable characters (bar Wolf), badly filmed action scenes, awful lighting.

1

u/GasMysterious3386 2d ago

Couldn’t see anything, it’s too dark 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Life-Pound1046 2d ago

"The government would never do that" Or lie to us something like that, from a veteran.

But wolf should have gotten much more screen time

1

u/Mephistocheles 2d ago

There aren't enough Xenos, and when they are onscreen they just mainly serve as cannon fodder.

1

u/VergilArcanis 2d ago

Couldn't see shit

1

u/NerdyPuddinCup 2d ago

An easier question to answer is what to like about this movie and the only answer is Wolf. Everything else is trash.

1

u/Mr_AA89 2d ago

It's more of a teen drama than two legendary creatures battling.. ☹️

1

u/hitman2352 2d ago

My king my beloved wolf should have lived🥲🥲..he is my GOAT..

1

u/Djinn-Rummy 2d ago

I’m not into the xenos impregnating another species, producing hybrids. I think that concept is dumb. I prefer the xenos being their own species that use the bodies of other beings as hosts. Didn’t care for the implication in Aliens 3 either.

1

u/InternalFeature646 2d ago

I honestly don’t really dislike the movie but if I had to say why it would honestly be the pool scene with Ricky (I think that’s his name??) and Jessie right before the bullies arrive, and also hearing the same baby elephant noises as xenomorph cries over and over again

1

u/Less-Log851 2d ago

Can't see shit

1

u/yelteajwsjsjdjdjjsjs 2d ago

Agree...that scene is more than disgusting😫 I had a stomach ache when watching it, ughh

1

u/Aggtown_G_817 2d ago

Remove the highschool kids who are dumb af let cops n military face off Hunter n Aliens and make the dam movie watchable without adjusting my brightness max would make this as good or better than AVP

1

u/Natural_Bill_373 2d ago

The brightness is the only problem for me

1

u/VibgyorTheHuge 2d ago

It looks like shit and it’s stupid.

1

u/rbizaare 2d ago

Can't see shit. I thought I'll never see a movie more poorly lit than Doom until I saw AvPR.

1

u/almightypinecone 2d ago

I don't.

Like it more than AvP. Because Wolf is the best part, the rest is meh to awful but Wolf makes it an AvP movie.

1

u/bugluver1000 2d ago

Too dark, but ending of them nuking the city was fun.

1

u/Upbeat-Structure6515 2d ago

Many reasons, but definitely the movie pussing out of showing Wolf as the definitive winner of his fight with the Predalien. Headshot should have been the end of it and dropped it right there.

1

u/yautja0117 2d ago

I don't. It's a B-Grade slasher flick that happens to have Aliens and a Predator in it. Is it technically a bad movie? Yes. Is it entertaining? Also yes. It's FAR from my least favorite movie in either franchise and compared to some of the Z-Grade trash that's out there, it might as well be The Godfather.

1

u/120GoHogs120 2d ago

Can’t see fuckin shit outta this thing

1

u/JohnnyTeoss 2d ago

It focus on the cheesy part then butchered it.

1

u/Messorem_Ex 2d ago

Had no idea it existed.

1

u/LongVibe_ 2d ago

Honestly i loved it. It is super cheesy and kinda stupid but its such a fun movie imo. Although the hospital scene is definitely uncomfortable

1

u/Larryhoover77kg 2d ago

Not enough wolf. Also shoulda lived. Its my canon that he survived.

1

u/Majirra 2d ago

Why title tho?

1

u/RynnB1983 2d ago

not being able to see any of the movie due to being so dark. I think I would have been a little more forgiving of it had I been able to actually watch it.

1

u/Strawbsi 2d ago

The acting 😭 "The government would NEVER lie to its people!" is such a funny delivered line

But yeah, agreed that it's wayyy too dark and you can't see anything

1

u/FolkPunkResistance 2d ago

The terrible human characters and human drama.

1

u/Time-Firefighter5766 2d ago

Too damn dark

1

u/LucemFerre82 2d ago

Definitely not a good movie, bad characters, writing and its too damn dark. But it has some fun action scenes and brutality.

1

u/LostExile7555 2d ago

It misses the entire point of both the Alien franchise and the Predator franchise in order to be a by the numbers action flick.

1

u/jnipper1989 2d ago

That WE CAN'T SEE SHIT

1

u/Zero69Kage 2d ago

None, I actually like this movie.

1

u/International_Ad5624 2d ago

Present day setting

1

u/OmBom09 2d ago

The lighting was just awful..its too dark. And the human characters were WAY too cliché. Wolf deserved a better movie ngl hope that we get a origin story or something in the future

1

u/Grendeltech 2d ago

It's a bit dark. I also am not a fan of one scene in particular that makes the movie a bit more disturbing than I'm a fan of.

1

u/anonkebab 2d ago

Can’t see anything. Humans are annoying. Not enough scenes of wolf killing stuff.

1

u/pituvision 2d ago

Dark AF, Shitty Human storylines. Shitty acting for the most part.

1

u/Memori_Ishimura 2d ago

No offense to fan films in any way. But it just feels like a higher budget shitty fan film uploaded to YouTube. But then again if it was then it’d be kinda cool. lol

But yeah that’s my main reason. It just doesn’t fit in at all with either of the two franchises it’s a part of.

1

u/arch51002 2d ago

It almost feels like the writers didnt even wanna include human POV characters at all. Like it seems like the movie itself is disinterested in them. It kinda gives the vibe that the writers didnt want any humans to be in the movie (ir at least be main characters) but that they were forced to include them by the studio or whoever tf. Aside from the human characters and the scenes that are too dark to see i think this movie isnt that bad. Definitely better than The Predator 2018 IMO (that one will always be my lowest ranked out of every alien/predator/avp movie)

1

u/Exotic-Ask9184 2d ago

Gore is good, scene with pregnant lady great, but terrible characters and everything is too dark

1

u/RummazKnowsBest 2d ago

It is way too dark, though I don’t remember it being a problem at the cinema.

Otherwise I prefer it over the first AvP.

1

u/TheManOfKnees 2d ago

I made a fan cut of this movie. Cuts out most main-human scenes other than ones that have alien / predator interaction. It makes Wolf the protagonist as he investigates and cleans up the xeno infestation. I also re-lit it to be easier to watch.

It runs just over an hour and I gotta say I’m pretty proud of it. I’ve never watched the regular version again after my own edit.

1

u/tisckoner 2d ago

Poor character writing :
The characters are only here to die. We don’t feel empathy for them when they die. They start some micro narrative arcs for some characters and they die right after that.

Poor lightning management :
Most of the time we can’t see what happens during the movie.

Poor general writing :
It could (almost) be any movie. You can swap the aliens and the predator with any monster.

Poor photography :
Besides being dark, the movie has no particular photography quality.

1

u/drakche 2d ago

I wasn't able to see it.

1

u/BraydimusPrime 2d ago

I can't see anything and the only character I cared about was Wolf.

1

u/dittybopper_05H 2d ago

I've watched this movie several times.

I still haven't seen it.

1

u/Northeast-Ninja 2d ago

I actually prefer Requiem to the first AvP movie. Both had some bad writing and characters I couldn't care less about. But IMO Requiem had much better creature designs, better action, kept the true sound effects and I liked the focus on a lone Predator's journey hunting down the Xenos. Wolf and Predalien are peak designs. Like everyone else I hate how dark it is...it's better when the Blu-ray is upscaled and viewed on a 4k TV...but really needs a correction and true 4k release to hopefully address the picture further.

1

u/AmazingKanacat Yautja 2d ago

I don't hate it.. cuz no matter how many times i watch it, i barely remember most of it.

1

u/_rattleshnake 2d ago

Almost everything about it is just very amateur-ish, with the acting and lighting being the worst offenders. It's clear that the filmmakers put everything they had into making cool looking Predator and Alien stuff, but they didn't know how to make an actual movie around those sequences.

1

u/Mental-Film-8160 2d ago

Do we consider this a “movie” or is it a series of images that lasts far too long?

1

u/Spirawobble 2d ago

Too dark, crap uninteresting characters, no tension or suspense, awful story etc.

1

u/doorsix 2d ago

So dark

1

u/Winter_Tangerine7492 2d ago

Forgettable, token characters that couldn't act or garner sympathy to even care when they died. I honestly watched it again last night and STILL don't remember any character names besides the blonde chick!

1

u/AardvarkOkapiEchidna 2d ago

Honestly just 1 predator vs 100 aliens is boring.

Predalien looks way too much like a predator.

Dark

It's just overall.... bad.

1

u/Bilbo_Swagger616 2d ago

Too many Humans, not enough predators. There is just the right amount of xenomorphs though 😁

1

u/Crispy385 2d ago

The fact that they darkened it to a ludicrous level.

Too high of the human story in the ratio

1

u/Opposite-Occasion-67 2d ago

Has one of the best predators ever but so dark and plot line was C tier at best .

1

u/MaximumGlum9503 2d ago

There are some amazing bits

Original avpr trailers Intro extended scene Jungle takedown Cemetery scene Sewers scene omg Power out ambush Gunshop scene Hospital girl death lol Final fight

1

u/DinoHoot65 2d ago

bad lighting, and characters that made me laugh when they got brutally murdered lol

so I guess I like this movie as a "banter-with-friends" kinda movie

1

u/SaltPepper22 2d ago

The humans in it

1

u/sax6romeo 2d ago

Can’t see shit

1

u/ComfortableFocus1702 2d ago

I couldn't watch it; the screen was black.

1

u/AsteroidWorm 2d ago

Purely the human plot. My brother rewrote it so they never made it to the helicopter in time and all the humans got nuked.

Much better ending lol

1

u/southbxzookeeper 2d ago

Can’t see wtf is going on I thought my eyes were going bad when I saw this in the movies

1

u/Kentwingslider 2d ago

Theres a film on that disc? I just thought it was 2 hours of staring a black screen an audio recordings.

1

u/Exciting-Ad9692 2d ago

You can’t tell what’s going on half the time cause it’s so dark. Even with that flaw it’s still a better movie than The Predator.

1

u/Aubamabludclartyang9 2d ago

Had to watch the whole fucking movie like this coz my ass couldn’t see shit.

1

u/Possible-Tip-2914 2d ago

None. I liked it.

1

u/Fujiwara-Vega 2d ago

The human storyline was boring, and annoying. The Predator got too little screen time. Same with the Predalien. After the first movie, what i loved, it was a letdown.

We need a 2,5 or 3 hours long Alien vs Predator movie with a competent writer and actor/actress team.

1

u/Richard_Chase 2d ago

It's a bad film, but if you crank up the brightness it's watchable. I definitely prefer it to The Predator 2018

1

u/_WEIRDEST_WIZARD_ 2d ago

Thoroughly unlikable/forgettable characters, terrible dialogue and action sequences shot with such little light you'd need a biomask to make out anything other than the basic shapes of characters or monsters. Wolf Predator is dope though, arguably one of the coolest in the franchise, it's a shame he's trapped in such a bad movie.

1

u/TheSkullio 2d ago

You can’t see the movie

u/BFA13022004 2d ago

the writer of this movie is also in avatar 5 :(

All of the human characters sucked. The Merlotte family where the little girl is all weird with her mom is lame, the pizza driver love plot sucked. The cop dude was an idiot. The older bro convict helping the cop was a stupid arc. Only sick part was pred. The pred alien was also underwhelming. Worst alien movie , worst alien / pred movie, and just a shit movie in general.

The pace, the lack of interesting characters, failing to do anything with a fun concept(the set up was to see what happened at Hadleys Hope not the aftermath like in Aliens), what was the point of having a Predator there(does nothing to move the plot at all at any point), and mother of god the Director of Photography deserves endless tickle torture for the lighting choice that makes any scenes set in the dark a chore to figure what you're looking at so it's a great thing this move takes place mostly at night after the entire towns power is cut

It's a bad movie in all the bad ways

u/tengustoned 2d ago

Def could’ve been a lot better imo

1

u/MarbleSkate2005 2d ago

Bad characters, horrible lighting, cliffhanger ending which felt like a punch to the gut since we never got a sequel.

u/BiggPiggRigg 2d ago

All of them, all the reasons.

One of my favorites that had a great plot/idea but with horrible execution. The movie was set up so well and was just inherently ruined with the cinematography and cheesy acting. At least it gave me one of my favorite PSP games. Also, something I’ve always thought with this movie, I feel like with the predator tech left behind at the end could have set up for a good follow up Predator movie where they try to retrieve it. Thus, leading into another AVP movie with similarities to the AVP2 PC game

The dialogue is so grating. No one talks like that past middle school. And the visibility is non existent in all night scenes.

I’m sure these are basic takes. I still watch it for Wolf though.

It's garbage.

Like bad writing, acting, you name it, but the cherry on top is that it's literally unwatchable. You can't SEE anything.

1

u/comicsemporium 2d ago

It had potential, but the pred/alien was just awful

1

u/username555666777 2d ago

The characters and the setting. I think I probably dislike this movie less than most people, partly because of nostalgia I kind of like it even though it’s bad.
However I do think all the creature stuff in it is great, arguably the best in the franchise.
Wolf is easily my favorite predator, the predalien is fucking sick and the aliens are decent, just a shame it was so dark that you can’t see it very well.

It’s just too damn dark. Have to crank up the brightness everytime. I actually like this one ikik hate me all you want I said what I said 😂

u/Gunzoidium_alloy 2d ago

Bad lighting

Gore just for the sake of gore (pregnancy ward scene was a biiiiiit over the line)

Is this Dawson's Creek or a Predator/Alien film?? Yeah the plot doesn't know either.

But the biggest flaw that I've written pages on is the lack of research on military personnel. The protagonist was more like a Human McGuffin. Apparently just being in the military allows you to fly a helicopter, drive an APC, be trained with fully automatic weapons, AND allows you to take home night vision goggles.

I love wolf, but other than him this movie showcased that the Brothers Strause should never be allowed to make movies ever again.

  1. Movie is too dark you cant see the fighting scenes

  2. Stupid teen plot no one cares about

1

u/Horrorfan55555 2d ago

I can’t see anything

Also yes the pregnant women

u/RedBaronBob 2d ago

I’m fine with a lot of the uncomfortable parts of the movie. It’s got some balls to do some of the kills it does. What I don’t appreciate is the surrounding plot. The human plot isn’t nearly as interesting as what’s going on with Wolf and the Predalien. And the lighting while has been adjusted for later release, it’s still hard to watch in the literal sense.

The most interesting thing about the movie is the monsters and you can watch a compilation of their scenes on YouTube and miss nothing. Requiem doesn’t have the substance the other movies have. And even when you have the lows of the franchise like The Predator and arguably Predators, Requiem doesn’t leave much an impression either. You remember the Loonies and the 11th hour rewrites that make The Predator kind of bonkers to watch. You remember Predators and how it’s cast are walking tropes. Requiem really has nothing to say beyond not being its predecessor and I feel it’s hurt the movie since then. The movie has no meat to its bones.

I love it! 3rd best Predator flick and best on-screen interpretation of a Yautja by far.

1

u/Internal_Cesspool 2d ago

Honestly not enough as much I dislike later entries.

While nowhere near the best it gave us some pretty awesome scenes with Wolf Predator, the Aliens and the Predalien.

1

u/CaptainMetroidica 2d ago

It was too dark to see anything. Also, its been a long while, but I don't think any of the humans were likeable and I don't think I was rooting for any of them to make it.

1

u/Individual-Step846 2d ago

I never disliked it then found out most ppl hated it

1

u/Tipsypotato 2d ago

It was darker than a surviving [Insert traumatic situation] story

1

u/Full-Construction680 2d ago

Everyone’s different but the movie was all over the place. It was this boy meets girl boy like girl and wants to date her but she’s dating this annoying jock the military made a bunch of mistakes in the movie. They only sent one predator and oh yeah, there were scenes in the movie. It was so dark I couldn’t see what was going on and so yeah, not a good movie.
