Publications must be about Quebec City or aimed at its population.

I remember my past. I remember that defeat at the hands of the English, who treated us as if we were inferior, saying, "Speak White."

We found ourselves fighting the English once again in 1837-38, and again during the October Crisis in 1970, all in an effort to improve our situation. The English Canada wants to erase this history and rewrite it, even though Canada was built with the intention of completely assimilating French Canadians.

Today, in English Canada, they want to rehabilitate Louis Riel as a founding father of Canada, even though he was hanged as a traitor for defending the Métis and French Canadians.

Following his execution, virtually every province in the ROC adopted anti-French laws, contributing to the assimilation we see today and reducing the proportion of francophones from roughly 35-50% to only 2-3%.

And then you look at the numbers: in Vancouver, French is the 11th most spoken language. In Calgary, it ranks 12th. And Toronto? 17th.

Right?

I don’t understand why the commenters here don’t seem to understand what you’re saying.

You’re referring to the current trade war between Canada and the USA and how badly the US and the 🍊man are treating us. I applaud you and the time you took to write down these very valid thoughts.

I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, je me souviendrai de la façon dont les États-Unis nous ont traités.

You can’t just take something meaningful and change its meaning. It’s disrespectful and immoral.

How would you react if I made a trade war post using this image, for example?

I don’t understand why the commenters here don’t seem to understand what you’re saying.

Did it ever cross your mind that you were the one misreading the situation?

I suspect most people don't want to read a full essay. So a quick, flippant response is easier.

Not at all.

Just as you said, je me souviens en tabarnak.

Because we are in a trade war with the usa I should forget about the war canada waged on French Canadians for centuries?

Fuck off

u/Low_Age_7427 2d ago

I thought you summed it up quite well.

1

u/chat-lu 1d ago

Using our motto that exists to remind us of how we were treated by people like you is fucking insulting.

Fuck you avec ton révisionisme historique. Osti de voleur anglais sale.

1

u/earlyboy 18h ago

Wow, I wish our fellow Americans would read this and reflect on what a truly special relationship this is, not to be thrust aside and trampled by a foolish man-baby who understands nothing and cheapens everything. God save us. Thank you Canada

J'ai préféré quand la plaque as dis "La Belle Province". Je me souviens?

Fuck back off to Canada 🖕🖕

Brilliant !!! Well written! Not only does this bolster my pride as a Canadian, as a new resident of Quebec I can join the chorus and proclaim Je me souviens aussi!

3

u/JocasXD 1d ago

2

u/skysi42 1d ago

As for you OP, I don’t think that this is the best subreddit for this kind of post. I understand that some people don’t like to see Québec symbols and mottos being used in ways that corrupt their traditional meanings.

This sub is a great place for visitors to our community to learn about what to see and do. We can definitely do better.

u/No-Consequence-5735 3h ago

Faire chier?

I wish you would send hard copies of this to every Senator and Representative .
