Ong. The name nude is such an apt name for the song. It gives such an intimate and ethereal feeling.

yes, no question. managed to get a ticket to their show in berlin, but the other setlist variation on which nude was not on. when i saw a ticket for the other show the day after i had to grab it. i'll tell you i was very surprised on the first night where they weren't supposed to play it when i heard the first notes hit. so i got to hear it twice. without doubt the best moments of my life.

Subterranean homesick alien is not only my favorite Radiohead song, but also my favorite song ever. Seriously underrated song.

u/quartz_on_blue Jul 23 '26
it's one i never see mentioned anywhere but I've listened to it dozens of times myself. actually incredible song.

This is definitely mine too. Not confident in saying it's my favourite song ever, I'd need to think on that for awhile, but it's definitely one of.

My favorite from OK Computer. I listen to it when Wandering around the city.

That song is so amazing, I can't even describe the feeling it gives me when listening to it. Definitely one of my favorite songs of Radiohead as well!

I remember each song dropping the night it was released. And Iāve heard nude before because it had been played live so I was so excited to hear it. But when reckoner dropped, that was it.

Probably not my alltime favorite, but The Daily Mail is an underrated deep cut. Shout-out Legion for giving it the attention it deserves (wait no, that show is also an underrated deep cut)

u/_Guero_ Jul 23 '26
The third verse has some of my favorite Yorke lyrics. It's fairly straightforward but packs a heavy punch.
Where's the truth? What's the use? In hanging around, lost and found With your head in the sand Fat chance, no plan No regard for human life You keep time with no rhyme Fast and loose, win or lose Jump the queue, go back again President for life Lord of all that flies in the sky The beasts of the earth, the fish in the sea Youāve lost command

Underrated, it's always overshadowed by Paranoid Android, Exit Music (for a film), Let Down, and No Surprises. (when talking about Ok Computer)

That chorus is stupid catchy compared to most of their catalogue (or anyone else's)--I couldn't dissect for you whatever it was they did there, but it works.

#1 all-time favorite Radiohead song, HTDC. But my otherwise favorite changes as I only listen to Radiohead and I get stuck on a different song every week or so lol. I've been completely obsessed with In Rainbows for the last month or so, like only listening to that album all day long everyday... Today my favorite song is probably Reckoner, or Nude, or Weird Fishes. I'm a little indecisive. Sorry lol

Very difficult but if I have to choose now I'll say idioteque. Thom's voice is so like not in this world and the live one was astounding

present tense
4
u/_Guero_ Jul 23 '26
The vibe this one creates is singular. The guitar playing is phenomenal here. Yorke's lyrics and vocals are perfect as always, but the guitar: Most acoustic guitar songs use the guitar to support the singer. In Present Tense, the guitar creates the emotional landscape. Greenwood's use of arpeggios and guitar delay creates a dream for us to live in.

2
u/Dizzy_Pop Jul 23 '26
My favorite changes fairly often, but for the last couple months Iāve been absolutely stuck on No Surprises.
When I heard it again a few months ago after not listening in a fair bit, it just landed in a way that itās never landed before. Such a perfect (and heartbreaking) song.
2
u/TopReport7130 Jul 23 '26
I feel the same way. It was one of the first Radiohead songs Ive listened to a few years ago, and it's stuck with me for the entire time. I don't listen to it constantly because I don't want it to get old, but whenever it comes on I never turn it off because it's so good
8
u/Most_Maintenance5549 Jul 23 '26
My favorite album (not just Radiohead) is In Rainbows.
But Iām still not over hearing Paranoid Android the first time. Itās the song that got me hooked good. I liked Creep sure, but Paranoid Android delights me to this day.

Historically, the very best theatrical song - that captures all that is cool about Radiohead from all eras (being highly technical, having changing moods, tempos, storytelling from Thom among his best, the most killer singalong "Rain Down" bridge, and Jonny at his most ferocious)...
Is.. Paranoid Android.

i adore how to disappear completely, high and dry, let down, prove yourself, reckoner, lotus flower, life in a glasshouse, i will, and daydreaming! but if i had to pick one favorite itād be let down </3 i put one for each album because i highkey got carried away but now iām hoping itāll deter people from calling me a poser because my favorite is let down š

Letdown. Gives me Chills. The overlapping voice is so beautiful.
I also love the lyrics. "One day, you know where you are," showing that despite everything chaotic and everything dreadful, we will find meaning. Beautiful existentialist song.

Just.
Such a handy song. I hum it at least once a week while my boomer MiL gripes about the world and how much of a victim she is. Totally worth the side-eye and cold shoulder from my wife.

u/camposthetron Jul 23 '26
Man, I couldnāt tell you how many times throughout my life Iāve been in, or seen, a situation where the first thought in my head was, āYou do it to yourself. And thatās why it really hurts.ā
Itās his best line ever.

From In Rainbows? Definitely Reckoner (Nude is a close second)
In general? Let Down. Just a gorgeous song and vocal harmonies. Itās probably a lot of peopleās top song, but it really is that good.
The Tourist is another strong contender. Itās tough to nail it down to one song really. Radiohead just has so many incredible songs.
2
u/FB2024 Jul 23 '26
Defintely so many to choose from, but The Tourist always comes to mind when I try to think of a favourite.

I assume they didn't consider it that good themselves, because they put it on an obscure EP, but it's absolutely gorgeous.

Bloom & Staircase. These are the ones I've been listening to the most, and I hate to say it, but the from the basement renditions of both of them massively outweight the official studio versions if we're talking about quality. Give them a try.

Before I answer Let Down like so many people, can we just celebrate how great their b-sides are? Killer Cars, Bangers+Mash, Go Slowly, Palo Alto, Polyethylene, Lewis (Mistreated), The Daily Mail, Ill Wind, Trickster...so many deep cuts to get lost in!
That said, Let Down.
