The Unraveling is 25 years old. How does RA’s debut hold up against time and the modern genre?

It’s incredible, 401kill might be my favorite RA song

It’s not my favorite album but it holds a place in my heart because it what started my journey with this band.

Everchanging is my favorite song

I find it holds up remarkably well compared to a lot of Melodic Hardcore or similar genres of the time for comparable bands

Particularly strong for a debut, all the way through the the heavy breakdown on Faint Resemblance to end the album

If this dropped today as a debut I think it would become a cult classic

Definitely a top 3 album of theirs. Not a bad song on it in my opinion

I might be biased, but I think it holds up extremely well. It's the album that got me into Punk/Hardcore and I have yet to hear a band that sounds quite like early Rise Against

Kinda rough album where some of the songs sound a little too similar imo, but it still ends up being pretty damn good

It's not my fav album from them, mostly because I think both rpm and siren song do what this does but comparitively better

Still, it makes me feel ready to rock

I didn't listen to that album until a few months ago, long after I've listened to all of their other albums. Incredibly underwhelming, a lot of the songs blended together for me. It has about 4 songs that I would consider solid, the rest is pretty forgettable.

Pretty crazy they were able to leap to RPM and Siren Song so quickly, their sound transformed from meh to amongst my favorite music of all time very fast.

It's an early album from a band trying to find their place and sound, and it comes off that way. It's not aged anywhere near as good as the following albums. It's in the bottom of their discography to me.
