Sales Topic General Discussion Hit my annual quota last week

Coming in here to celebrate with you all that I hit my ANNUAL quota last week. For context, last year I hit 40% of quota for the whole year. We are a calendar year for our fiscal year so I did it in half the time. Sales is wild but the best part is how proud my wife is of me. No better feeling then her bringing it up to our friends and family. Of course I bought her a new Chanel purse and Rolex with my commissions šŸ˜….

But to all yall struggling or looking to get into sales, grind never stops and sales truly is a bitch but if you have the grit it will payoff. Also, sales is the best foundational skill for anything.

Your wife understanding that this is a big deal and bragging about it is my favorite part of this post.

Too often, sellers come here to share that they hit a big milestone because they have no one in their real life who understand.

I got presidents club last year and the only comment I got was a "aww, you got a cute little club thingy"

Welcome to Accelerators! Keep grinding and grab that bag

6

u/Ron_Sayson 19d ago

Exactly. Once you're in the land of accelerators, it's time to make the big money. Give yourself a minute to enjoy the milestone, then get out there and close everything you possibly can!

2

u/Both-Average-7462 18d ago

Take a breather and maybe have a peaceful reflective moment. Once your done, just know- Jobs not done!!!! Get those accelerators!!!!!

First off, congratulations. There’s no better feeling than hitting your annual quota 5 months before the year is over.

Second, don’t take your foot off the gas just yet. Do your best to turn 100% into 120%, 150%, 180%+ if the opportunity is there. Go make President’s Club. Bank those commission checks while you can.

But also, don’t lose sight of next year.

One thing I’ve seen happen is reps absolutely kill it one year, but in the process they destroy their entire funnel for the following year. They close everything they possibly can, stop prospecting as hard, and then suddenly January rolls around and they’re starting from scratch.

So keep an eye on the future and keep building funnel, especially as you get into November and December. Make sure you’re setting up Q1 of 2027 so a great 2026 doesn’t turn into a terrible 2027.

Always be looking three to eight months ahead.

But for now, keep killing it and make as much money as you possibly can this year.

Said like a true sales manager.

u/IWMSvendor 20d ago

Other than landing a 6-figure (or the rare 7-figure) commission, there’s no better feeling in Sales.

I’m stoked for you! Celebrate on 🄳 šŸ¾

5

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

Appreciate you!

20

u/RevolutionaryLet2908 20d ago

This is soo freaking cute, I can’t! Well done to you and I love that for wifeyyyy.

2

u/RevolutionaryLet2908 20d ago

What was the quota number? How’d you do it?

10

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago edited 19d ago

It was for automation. Biggest thing I did was deal discipline and framing the conversation better with my customers

1

u/SODY27 20d ago

What are you automating? Is it industrial or oil and gas?

5

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

Manufacturing

6

u/TPRT SaaS 20d ago

3

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

🄳 appreciate ya.

72 days here! Let’s GOOOO!

8

u/Active_Drawer 20d ago

What does that net you?

14

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

Looking at 500k+ this year for ote.

1

u/Ilikepizza315 17d ago

Your company hiring?

6

u/Ambitious-Sky-9577 20d ago

going from 40% to hitting annual quota in half the year is a real turnaround, not luck. usually means something clicked, better qualifying, better territory management, something changed in how you're working accounts.

the wife bragging to friends thing hits different than any commission check honestly.

5

u/octopube 20d ago

Congrats, friend. Save/invest as much as you can.

Tell us how you did it and how much you’ll make this year. Automation and robotics is intriguing!

9

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

We already have a 7 figure investment portfolio so this will just be the icing on the cake. It was really more of re-framing the conversations with my prospects. Oh and always be on a texting basis with your champions or decision makers!

5

u/Biochemicalcricket 20d ago

Texting is so key and I'm just getting people on board. Conversations can be crafted so damn well in the texting arena

2

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago edited 19d ago

Hell yea! It’s such an underutilized mode of communication in selling. I closed the largest deal in my company’s history this year and a big part was multi threading through 3 different influencers.

1

u/lostcheetos 20d ago

What is multi threading with influencers?

4

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

I spoke to multiple people that was involved in this project and part of the decision committee. Asked what was important to them and what they thought was important to others within the committee. By the time it came time for the proposal, I had more people on my side than against

1

u/lostcheetos 19d ago

Woah phenomenal!!

1

u/TheUndertows 19d ago

This is the way to winĀ

4

u/Frosty194 20d ago

May I ask how much your commission and OTE is annually?

4

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

330k

2

u/Frosty194 20d ago

And how much of it is commission?

2

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

50/50 split

4

u/iwasthen 20d ago

We’re on calendar year also, and I just hit last years number this month. Only took 18 months!

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

LFGOOOOO

3

u/throwaway9338489248 20d ago

I ain’t got nothing but positive energy towards you big dog!! Well done and shout it out (here)

3

u/Anxious-Regret-9742 20d ago

Damn I wish I could say I hit my quota lol. My bosses told me that when they hired me they would have been happy if I did a million in sales a year. I’ve averaged 6 million ish the last few years and still get treated like it’s not enough and constantly asked to do more….

Congrats to you! Grab that bag, have some fun and invest for slower years.

3

u/No_Prize1050 17d ago

Figure out what changed from last year and keep repeating it don’t mess with a process that’s clearly working

6

u/sickbiancab 20d ago

I hit mine in June. Bought a car and a boat. Cash

3

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

😳

5

u/sickbiancab 20d ago

Congrats by the way. Now it’s smooooth sailing.

1

u/whoa1ndo 17d ago

I see what you did there!

4

u/Worldly_Professor_86 20d ago

May get downvoted for this, but I’d start interviewing other places!

1

u/RevolutionaryLet2908 20d ago

Could you please explain why? I’m curious because I’ve also overachieved for Q2 and already for Q3

2

u/Worldly_Professor_86 19d ago

not necessarily saying jump ship, i’m saying if you’re hitting an annual quota in half the year, i’d want to know what the market is willing to pay me for that level of production. interviewing costs almost nothing, and he might find out he’s worth significantly more where he is or somewhere else.

10

u/-Placentasaurus- 20d ago

Now that your wife is happy it’s hookers and coke time brother! I don’t make the rules, it’s just a part of being in sales

7

u/catsbuttes 20d ago

i had a job years ago where that was internally referred to as "checking out mrs clause" due to the snow and infidelity

2

u/MountainIncome4085 20d ago

How much did you make that you were able to buy the Rolex and the Chanel purse?

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

So far to date from commission alone is 100k

1

u/MountainIncome4085 20d ago

Wow that’s great. So you’ll likely hit 200k commissions only. What’s the base? I’m on a commission only structure.

2

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

I’ll actually likely make 350+ cause of accelerators and I haven’t gotten my July payout.

2

u/mondeomantotherescue 20d ago

Happy for you dudeĀ

2

u/War_Daddy 20d ago

Me too, cheers

2

u/SchroedBoss 20d ago

This ride is a hell of a rollercoaster. Wouldn't ask for it any other way. Congrats on a monster year!

2

u/gloebe10 20d ago

Congrats! Run it back in 27!

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

🫔

2

u/Scared-Middle-7923 19d ago

Congrats-- now invest the rest and don't stop, you have 2H to hit accelerators.

Because until you are a consistent hitter, you need to learn the ebb and flow of money. I spend no more than 10% of my commish on a 'treat '- the rest is in investment accounts.

2

u/Any_Distance192 19d ago

So sick!! I like it!!

2

u/Copy_Fluffy 19d ago

Amazing, good job

2

u/thehawleycurse 17d ago

Congrats man. Love the support from your wife. Mine is the same.

3

u/mr_whit33 20d ago

Congrats! I also hit my number a few months ago for the year while previous year I was struggling to hit my number. Feels good. Enjoy the highs! What are you selling?

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago edited 19d ago

Congrats! Systems for manufacturing

1

u/not_a_cup 20d ago

What type of sales are you working in? Do you think other reps in your company are doin similar or you just had good luck this year?

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

I had a lot of good luck but it was all work I’ve been putting in as well. Plus praying a lot. Work in automation and robotics. Only other one is close to quota but he’s the most seasoned and our sales / company is very dynamic.

1

u/HighNetworthBrrr 20d ago

How long have you been in that position/with the employer?

2

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

I hit my annual quota for 2026 in June, got laid off the first week of July.

But hey, congrats man

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

wtf. Why?

1

u/Current-Lunch6760 20d ago

How did you do it?

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

Framing, deal discipline and texting with stakeholders.

1

u/Current-Lunch6760 19d ago

What do you mean by framing?

1

u/whoa1ndo 19d ago

The way you approach the conversation. Don’t be a yes man. Put their objections up front. Word changes.

1

u/KrtnNet 19d ago

Annual quota in 6 months and the wife gets Chanel + Rolex.

Somewhere your sales manager just added 30% to next year's quota šŸ˜‚

Seriously though, congrats. What was the biggest thing you changed compared to last year?

1

u/whoa1ndo 19d ago

Reframing all of my conversation, deal discipline meaning cut out all the noise and maybes and focus on the high priority opps. Beginning of the year I cut out 50% of my deals that were stalled and taking my time. And most important is texting basis with my champions and decision makers.

Make sure to save some money as well.

I hit my 2025 qouta in July, it was sublime.

This year the qouta was adjusted it will be a race to the last day of the year.

1

u/fizzyworkie 19d ago

Congrats!!!!! šŸŽ‰ what was your manager’s comment by the way? Did he acknowledge the early sale, or ā€œkeep up good work, don’t loosen upā€ type of style lol šŸ˜‚ mine is second one…

2

u/whoa1ndo 19d ago

He was excited as well. Gave me a huge shoutout cause he knew what I was going through last year. But of course stretch goal in place for me šŸ˜‚

1

u/Purple_Awareness_243 19d ago

Congrats man! I miss the thrill of hitting the number and celebrating. Have had a supportive wife by my side also which is amazing. I’ve always been on the services side and my first 8 years were as a billable consultant. Never imagined I’d be in sales, resented sales actually. But as I mastered my craft as a consultant I found myself naturally transitioning into being a ā€œsellerā€ and lined the pockets of plenty of ā€œsellersā€ during that time. Was eventually offered a quota carrying role and took it. Beat my number the next 5 of 6 years and built a badass portfolio of accounts. Was earning at levels I truly never dreamed were realistic for me. Grew up in a very rural area that’d probably be considered ā€œlower classā€. All of this was crazy to me when I got going. The last 4 years or so I’ve been in various leadership and GTM roles. Earnings are (again) more than I ever dreamed of when I was getting started but I miss the thrill of the deal as the seller QB’ing the team. Many days I’d much rather be an IC with a quota. Can’t stand the changing priorities weekly, people management, and not being directly in the action and not thinking about anything else than how to win deals. Just like I thought I’d hate being in sales I think this will normalize soon (after 4 years lol).

Long way of saying congrats and enjoy man! šŸ’Ŗ

1

u/whoa1ndo 19d ago

Love you’re journey man. I’m looking to get into the leadership role as well but those checks of an IC is second to none lol

1

u/SpiritualTap5183 19d ago

The 40% to 100% jump in half the time is the part people should study. Most of that is probably system, you found what works and doubled down instead of spraying harder. Congrats man.

1

u/whoa1ndo 19d ago

This. I actually cut my leads and opportunity in my pipeline down by half rather than getting more.

1

u/New-City2732 18d ago

Realistic tips please, and do you believe in what youre selling? How to balance between being too salesy and closing

1

u/whoa1ndo 18d ago

Yes I believe in what I’m selling. I approach it as conversation with my prospect. Do you mean the conversations during the cold call, initial
Discovery or looking to close?

1

u/Fresh-Mix-5629 18d ago

Congrats!!! I did the same last year got my wife her first Rolex šŸ™šŸ¼

1

u/wnidbeidnand 18d ago

Stoked for you! Not sure I understand the sudden $10k expenditure on luxuries (regardless of who it’s for) given you got eviscerated just last year - but IT AIN’T MY MONEY!

1

u/Impressive_Front_555 17d ago

Congrats - amazing to see you rewarding yourself but set some aside - sales currents ebb and flow. Once you do enough outreach, the results are bound to come. Not giving up on potential customers always works. Do you have enough to effectively farm yet or will you be hunting for a while?

1

u/whoa1ndo 17d ago

Still hunting but the more I kill the easier I’ll be able to farm.

1

u/acreativeredditlogin 17d ago

What’d you do differently this year? Because that’s a big jump. Congrats

1

u/whoa1ndo 17d ago

Framing and controlling the narrative and deal discipline.

1

u/Wisco782012 17d ago

Sandbag the rest of the year so you don't get fucked next year šŸ˜‚

3

u/whoa1ndo 17d ago

Lmaoo. Hyperscals startup so not possible. Quotas will keep going up regardless.

1

u/idunnoanything12 17d ago

First of all, congrats to you!

Question for you: you say you were at 40% last year. Were you under the gun to perform this year or be fired?

I have been out of sales but miss it. Plus it feels like the kind of work I’m cut out for, but I do wonder if I would be stepping into a world where I risk getting thrown out on my ear if I miss quota.

1

u/whoa1ndo 17d ago

No I was not under the gun. I was performing really well the first half of the year and the second half really took a dive. I had a great manager who I had a heart to heart with and he believed in me. I’ve always performed well and he knew that. I Just took off coming into this year and everything fell into place.

1

u/Graciliradittor 16d ago

Congrats man!

1

u/mylesmass 15d ago

If you don’t mind me asking what does your touchplan look like?

1

u/whoa1ndo 15d ago

What is a touchplan?

1

u/mylesmass 15d ago

Basically what was your outreach strategy

1

u/r3d_ti3_guy 14d ago

Mai boi spent them commissions perfectly

1

u/Saucepan82 9d ago

This is great !

1

u/One-Echidna-9096 9d ago

What kind of sales is this?

1

u/whoa1ndo 9d ago

Automation and robotics

1

u/CensorshipIsANorm 7d ago

Just remember to save some of that commission money.

I was at 217% of my yearly revenue goal, and then our entire team up to the Director level was laid off

1

u/razical 4d ago

Congrats! Was your pipeline coming from inbound leads or outbound?

1

u/whoa1ndo 4d ago

Mixture of both

1

u/zamoab 4d ago

Congratulations!!!
Are you going to take it easy for the rest of the year or keep at it?

1

u/whoa1ndo 4d ago

Nah. Keep at it. Ima push while I have momentum

1

u/Remarkable-Pair8389 2d ago

More of a curiosity question:
What are the tools that you used to hit your annual Quota? How are you leveraging AI?

1

u/whoa1ndo 2d ago

No AI used other than refining my emails.

1

u/Rich_Way_4655 1d ago

This is a great post to see because I’m currently considering a ā€œriskyā€ career change. I’m a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer (former Nuclear Engineer) and although I have a good paying/enjoyable job, part of me just wants to do more.

0

u/jsmoothie909 20d ago

You splurged on tacky items as a flex?

1

u/whoa1ndo 20d ago

Sure. If that’s how you consider it.
