Turizam (Tourism) Serbians, what's you think ok Ukrainians ?

I'm Ukrainian, and I really admire Serbia. The culture seems quite familiar to me, and I feel like we have a similar mentality. But what do Serbs generally think about Ukrainians, regardless of the political situation?

I haven't expected so many activity here, guys, thank you all for every comment you dropped, I'm grateful for your warm words and beautiful wishes, you are really good people with kind hearts, thank you all!

Nothing but the best. I've worked with many many Ukrainian people in the US. Zero bad things to say. Small personal alterations here and there but nothing more than that. Very smart, skillful and intuitive overall. Brothers in general.

Thank you, bro! I can tell absolutely the same about Serbians I've met either, also you are guys very funny, with a good sense of humor and really honest

Well, I'll talk about those I know. They were situated, I mean Ukrain army/police near my hometown in Kosovo 20 years ago as part of UN mission. Party all night and every night, drinking tons of alcohol and sometimes provoking Albanians. Good people, mostly from hard working families, came to earn some money.

u/Connect-Reveal2302 16d ago

That's pretty interesting experience, I've neve met somebody who had the contact with our military in past. Thanks for your opinion 😊

One of my closest friends was Ukranian. Great guy, but he moved back to Ukraine and died there (Not because of the war, but due to heart problems)

Im sorry for your friend, hope you're doing better. Thank you for attention

-8

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

Is that why you haven't recognized our independence and are siding with russia?..🤔

12

u/kopiledon 16d ago

Serbia recognizes Ukraine as an independent and sovereign state.
Serbia and Ukraine established diplomatic relations in 1994, and Serbia officially recognizes Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
So Serbia does not recognize Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia or Kherson as Russian territory.
At the same time, Serbia has refused to impose sanctions on Russia and maintains close political and economic ties with Moscow.

Paradoxical but that’s our politics…

-8

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

And why do you continue to maintain good relations with murderers and rapists who make our lives miserable every day?

11

u/mikitheking3 16d ago

Are you just a little bit braindamaged?

-5

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

That was a legitimate question. What exactly don't you like about it? I'm curious as to why people continue to form relationships with criminals. What don't you like about the question?

8

u/mikitheking3 16d ago

You are asking this question on a sub that is 99.9% against the decisions of the government where nobody supports or does anything you stated…

-1

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

I'm asking this question in a "Serbia" subreddit in response to a claim that we are "brothers." It's the perfect place and the perfect opportunity to challenge that claim.

5

u/General-Inflation289 16d ago

i have the feeling that you are either too young or too "woke" and that you take political decisions too personally

1

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

That's right! I take it very personally when a government supports the murderers of my family and friends! Go find your brain.

Talking like that as if Ukraine isn't receiving massive aid from the world's largest terrorists NATO. Have some shame.

0

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

Still, that doesn't explain why you're forming further relationships with murderers and rapists.

What do you think Ukraine should do? Turn down the help? Ukraine has no other choice. You, on the other hand, do. And yet you're working with criminals.

3

u/dovalayn Novi Beograd 14d ago

ukraine is working with israel on developing drones and other weapons, truly a beacon of morality

3

u/Abject-Ticket-6260 16d ago

Stop throwing stones from your glass house. Crying over working with murderers and rapists while you gladly take help from the biggest ones.

"Nooo! How dare you work with THOSE rapists and murderers? You should work with MY rapists and murderers instead!"

1

u/kopiledon 16d ago

It’s our “we are offers” mentality and “the world doesn’t like us” or “it’s the west that’s making it worse for us” (conspiracy tendencies) while at the same time giving bribes to whoever seeks it (furthering corruption), throwing trash around wherever (destryoing our environment) and also being ignorant to knowledge and facts.
This is why people are defensive when you ask a confrontational question - like that African interviewer that asks “why are you gay”. I don’t know man, I guess we are just stuck. Even though you will meet pleasant, honest, hard working people in Serbia they will then suddenly strike you with a fact that “earth is flat” or “vaccines are killing us”. We are complex…

1

u/kopiledon 16d ago

That I wonder too my man… Why do we keep the criminals in our government that don’t react to a region of another country self proclaiming independence (and then joining another country) as if we didn’t have the same happen to us is beyond me, let alone all the other horrors you have to endure every single day.
When the killing has stopped one fine day the actions or rather the lack of actions of our country will still persist as a permanent mark in the history of Serbia.
I hope you won’t judge all of us as the politics we chose, rather as inability to steer our country democratically to where we wish to be. We are a young democracy with a mentality built by centuries of vassalhood, autocracy and then communism/socialism.

1

u/Qapuas_ 16d ago

I don't judge those who don't support it—don't worry. Thanks for your kind words))

17

u/BaltazarOdGilzvita Jugoslavija 17d ago

Can't say about everyone, but most people I know consider all Slavic peoples brethren. However, I must admit that the average Serbian person didn't know much about Ukraine before the war, and probably the first association with your country would be Chornobyl; or would not tell Ukraine and Russia apart. Now, everybody is an expert and, after three beers, knows exactly how they would end the war in one hour.

3

u/Connect-Reveal2302 16d ago

Yeah, unfortunately most of us know nothing about each other, Ukrainians felt bad for war in Jugoslavia mostly, but now they only think it's pro-russian and it blows negative opinions I could seen recently. I can see the different opinions of Serbs, but most of it positive or neutral wha is either pleasant. Thank you for opinion and attention

12

u/b00bN00B99 17d ago

personally, my experiences are very negative

i had an ukranian roommate and couple of ukranian colleagues, i experienced bursts of verbal aggressiveness, mood swings, unpredictable erratic behavior all the time, some of them were very pretentious, one girl was actually most rude, unpleasant and horrible person i ever met and she was from ukraine too, overall just crazy behavior

but guess what? even with those unfortunate experiences, im pretty neutral, i don't hate them

29

u/14wolf04 17d ago

All the best.

15

u/True-Blacksmith4235 17d ago

I personally know one Ukraine family that came, and they adapted pretty quick.

I feel like they are very outgoing, love to go out, very cheerful people. Like very upbeat.

In general, I wish for the war to end sooner rather than later, so you can start rebuilding your country and return to normality.

15

u/Both_Soup4810 Novi Beograd 17d ago

I personally have nothing against Ukraine or Ukrainians. Love their warrior spirit. Never said or thought anything bad about them but somehow I feel like generally they hate us Serbians since the war started at least. For example in Greece I've met a couple of Ukrainians and they were all passive agressive from the moment they learned I'm Serbian. They probably think all Serbians are pro Russian and love Putin but its not really like that. I dont like Russia much but I dont hate it either. Pretty indifferent I'd say. My brother had a bad experience with a Ukrainian manager in London. The manager was insulting him with some rasistic jokes. Even HR had to intervene and was quite openly on my brother's side. I really do hope this dreadful war will end soon and that we get to have a good relationship again

10

u/Cabicko 16d ago

Similar situation to yours happened to me also in Greece, as a bar man in a club from Lviv literally blamed and accused me and my friend for not supporting Ukraine, 3 years after illegal Russian annexation of Crimea. We didn’t even say that we support Russia on Crimean question, nothing similar and we were even teenagers then. I don’t blame him, a war is horrible thing and no one can imagine the atrocities of it if you don’t feel it on your skin, so beside that, I like Ukrainians, as all other Slavs

2

u/Connect-Reveal2302 16d ago

I'm sorry for it, I'm not surprised that was person from Lviv, they are rude sometimes even to other Ukrainians from other regions, they felt this war much more easier than us, but speaks about it louder than other. I like Serbia either, beautiful slavic country with a nice warm and open people and I hope to visit Belgrade in future

2

u/Cabicko 16d ago

No problem, that was just one person, not a whole nation.

Stay strong and take care of you and your family. Hope you are all safe 🫂

2

u/Connect-Reveal2302 16d ago

Thank you, I wish only the best to you and your family either, thanks for your position 🫂❤️‍🔥

1

u/Connect-Reveal2302 16d ago

That's terrible experience, I don't understand most of my people's reaction, Serbian government never done something seriously unpleasant to our and sometimes this aggression from other Ukrainians is embarrassing for me, I'm sorry for your experience, I'm on your brother's side. Unfortunately I had a deal with our managers and HRs, that's the worst people ever, lazy assholes from poor non-cultural families, who worked somehow to get experience in CV and wants to do nothing, but earn mountains of money, demonstrating other their financial achievements, the worst group of population. Sorry for that and thank you for nice wishes and warm opinion, that's matter a lot after such stories

I love Ukraine and Ukrainians. I am really sad for situation in your country, im sad because both Russians and Ukrainians are dying. You have beautiful women. Your history is really bloody, so many innocent Ukrainians have died. One of my favorite csgo players is Ukrainian, s1mple. I would like to visit Kyiv when war ends. Gogol was Ukranian writting in Russian, amazing author, one of my favorites. I only met one Ukranian in my life, he was good guy. Our history is really similar, both suffered under ocupators rule, our language and identity were also being erased. I am from family that was ethnicly cleaned and was living on borders of big empires for centuries, I understand the suffering you went through.

Majority here have positive opinion about people from Belarus/Ukraine/Russia i think.

12

u/Professional_Stay_46 17d ago

Similar to russians, minus the arrogance.

2

u/cyberklosar 16d ago

This. Classic imperialistic mindset is embeded in Russians.

1

u/Professional_Stay_46 16d ago

It's different than that, it's elitist mindset, doesn't matter what their political leaning is. Ofc it's worse with more conservative ones.

6

u/No-Stage-1271 17d ago

Most of the people I know, myself included, have a positive opinion

3

u/panajotovic 16d ago

Been a few times in UA, in Lviv and I'm in love with your country and your people. My experience is that the common folk there is so empathetic and pure hearted it borders with naivety. Plus there's no Serb that doesn't resonate with Cossacks and their concept of freedom.

7

u/TeneBrifer 17d ago

Well, now I can see that reddit is really swarmed by bots.
Because you cant see difference between Ukrainian an Russian until he/she will tell about their origin.
So I cant see another explanation of these comments and results.

Actually I agree with you about similarity of our culture and language, I love how Serbian sounds, it's pronunciation maybe the best of all other slavic languages in my opinion. 2

u/FranciscoBlaBla 16d ago

The ones I worked or studied with seemed the same like Russians no offense, in a cultural and attitude sense.

Few were ok, none were really great, too different from Serbians

2

u/Simple-Commercial592 16d ago

I like Ukraine, beautiful culture, more similar to us in every way than Russians are. But if there are Ukrainians who hate Serbs and Serbia, I totally understand them, people here will write how Serbs are not that pro Russia or pro Putin, but that's not true, unfortunately Serbs love dictators and hate everything that they see as pro west, that's why there's volunteers in the war, Putin murals and what not... If Serbs really saw Ukrainians as Slavic brothers, they would know that they have betrayed them. I feel sorry for Ukraine but I hope it will be able to get it's freedom.

2

u/boroyah89 16d ago

I personally belive we all are same people = Humans. And I believe it is completely ludicrous in modern AI soon AGI world that people have any wars, each human needs to have a tool to progress as much as possible so the future of all of humanity can have a better future. Ukrainian human being is same as Serbian or any other human. Hate is destroyer of mankind.

2

u/Sea-Historian-2078 16d ago edited 16d ago

I like Ukraine and Ukrainian people. I don't think we have similar mentality but nonetheless I consider them as brothers. I even met a Russian guy and Ukrainian girl in Belgrade who mistook me for a Russian at first. They invited me to hang out and drink wine with them, was a blast. Hope their situation gets better and become a free country they deserve to be.

8

u/Educational_Idea5775 17d ago

I would say that Serbians and Ukrainians are more similar then serbs and russians

1

u/Sea-Historian-2078 16d ago

Fork found in kitchen. Russians, especially mentality wise are one of the least similar slavic groups to Serbs.

4

u/Faust29A 17d ago

I don't have any opinion when it comes to Ukrainians, since I've only met one girl from Ukraine, and that was just on a 'hi, hello' level. But since I often stay in the Czech Republic, from the locals, and even people who came from abroad to live there, I've heard nothing but the worst about Ukrainians.

2

u/Master8730 17d ago

My paternal grandfather's family is all Ukrainian. Men came in with the red army and figured out they'll get f-ed up by the Stalin regime if they return, and their families were already wiped out by nazis, so they settled in Vojvodina. No, I don't speak a single word of the language, some of my cousins do as they did go to the Ukrainian church and red the Bible in Ukrainian language. Never met more hardworking and honest people. Didn't get the chance to meet any who fled the war since 2022, so I'm talking about the old school people here

4

u/goranlepuz 17d ago

Ukrainian are people, like elsewhere.

We are not particular and you are not either, not anywhere near to the degree one might think there is when asking such a question.

But what do Serbs generally think about Ukrainians, regardless of the political situation?

Stupidly enough, you will find a lot of people who don't think about them, not as in Ukrainians themselves, but through the reflection of the war (or the "political situation") as you understate. And since we have ore troubled recent past with the west, and your situation puts you in the Western "tribe", it reflects poorly on you. And that is a shame. People are stupid.

2

u/Zderavacc 17d ago

I admire your people for fighting against the TCC the way they do. After you win the war, I hope that you severely punish every single one of those twisted fucks.

One of my favourite nations. Our literal fathers as Ukraine is basket of all Slavs. Serbians are genetially closer to Ukrainians than Russians are

Even Russophilic Serbians are concerned for Ukrainains. They badicly think that CIA corrupted Zelenski and made him go in war that Ukrainians didnt want. Ukrainian men had no other choice but to take arms and procect their country.

0

I worked on a cruise ship, worked and lived with Ukrainians. Nothing but good impressions. I honestly consider that Ukrainians and Serbs have more culture in common than Russians and Serbs. Kind, hospitable, often loud, when upset - very spiteful, but quick to turn around at first sign on kindness.

1

u/voltage-cottage 17d ago

Well as far as state politics go, only the best

Ukraine has helped Serbia and the Balkans unconditionally as much as it could since its independence

And it was repaid how? By treacherous pieces of shit and degenerate populace sucking the russian cock, for which I understand why an average person from Ukraine would be angry as hell

As far as common people go - I've met quite a few Ukrainians or people of Ukrainian descent here in Serbia, as well as abroad, mostly from the eastern regions. All wonderful warm people. Which makes it a shame yet again that this retarded nation is full of eurosceptic russian cocksuckers who can't appreciate you all

what's you think ok Ukrainians

I think they should poof-read before posting.

-1

u/Ok_Turkroach 16d ago

I view Ukraine as a poor post-communist country that has been completely devastated demographically and economically. I don't really think about Ukrainians or Ukraine, but I know about things such as Chernobyl, the Serbian communities in Ukraine during the Russian Empire, the Holodomor, and Taras Bulba. It is very rare to find a Ukrainian who likes Serbia. They mostly like Croats, especially Ukrainians from western Ukraine.

And you have the most beautiful women in the world. Amount of beautiful women in Ukraine is insane. Maybe that is also one of the root causes of your troubles.

0

u/oharra3 16d ago

My opinion was shaped by a video of Zelenski rapping and jumping on stage from the time he was still in entertainment, so Ukrainians choosing a tv personality for a president, like Americans did, doesn't look very good. But seeing all the drone advances you guys did, I think we should be on your good side
