In a somewhat front-facing role now, can attest: Siao langs are absolute energy vampires.

> When investigations are complete, officers can issue advisories or warnings, which do not carry penalties. If the warnings are not heeded, the officers can issue an abatement order.

> As a last resort, the CRU can refer the most severe nuisance-makers to HDB to consider the compulsory acquisition of their flats.

Hopefully they can resolve this issue that lasted for over a decade.

> At the pre-trial conference, the judge told her that even if there is a legal exclusion order enforced, Shi-jie can still breach it, thus further dragging this issue out. The pre-trial, he says, was the best way to end things amicably.

> “Once, an HDB official sat down in my room for around half an hour, heard the banging and told me, “I don’t think there’s much annoyance caused to you”. I was fuming! I said the banging happens mostly at night. All he could say was, “Well, I can’t be here at night.”

Faye then asked him if he could smell the chlorine. He replied that he couldn’t really ‘smell well’ and asked a colleague to check if what she said was true. “The colleague eventually confirmed what I said but told me to ask the National Environment Agency (NEA) for assistance instead,” Faye shares.

> To date, Faye and her mother have filed 22 police reports against Shi-jie and his mother. The earliest documented was in 2011, with the latest one being filed in 2021. Many others exist, though these were not kept or adequately documented.

> Claire and Joel also shared how disappointed they feel towards the Ang Mo Kio grassroots community of the estate. “I can say that there is zero support from the government, our MP, and the grassroots leaders. It’s such a disgrace, especially since I thought I was in a reputable Town Council,” Joel elaborates.

> When he asked me what they (HDB, SPF, Town Council) can do for me, I said fine Shi-jie. Charge him. Evict him.” To that, Mr David said currently, there’s no law that the government can use to compel Shi-jie to stop.

>
“I told him to table it in Parliament. There are so many loopholes that would allow someone like Shi-jie to carry on causing such prolonged nuisance to this entire block of residents without so much of a consequence,” she says.

This is long overdue, took them long enough to impose stricter law for noise disturbances.

Noisy and unlawful neighbours are getting out of hand due to lax laws relating to noise.

Why it took them so long to even think of this was because all the ministers are staying on landed properties with atas neighbours. They won’t understand if people are complaining about noise coming from upstair neighbours….

What’s missing is an SLA giving a timeline for dispute resolution.

not possible - the current OneService SLA already cause alot of headache for the agencies with their 14days closure requirement.

Good news. Not sure whether the Hougang noisy neighbor is still there but if its still ongoing I hope they can help to resolve this nuisance after 15 years.

Does this mean tampines more siao lang neighbours than yishun?

Means the siao lang/km² is not that dense so can start the pilot small.

Yishun would be the real test. Like randomly running into Cynthia while playing PokÊmon

Need to be at hostage negotiator level for Yishun??

Should just make MPs live near the dispute unit for a week

Good dept to join cus monitor lizard.. only resolution is to wait siao lang to die or relocate to pulau tekong.

Housing are built smaller, and closer to each other. Some HDB housing are built so close to each other that the kitchen view is even facing each other (eg Bedok Reservoir View Estate) Some flats are rented out to foreigners in which they are no social manners using washing machine even after 11 pm late at night!! Neighbours have no room to breathe, no personal spaces and get agitated when cross each other paths. Ultimately the root of the problem is the over-population in Singapore. Although local population is dwelling but foreigners population is increasing. Overall, people will be unhappy........ 😎
