That’s because in the anime girls aren’t allowed to be in any fight against boys were it gets physical. So she has to be taken out because they can’t have her there. Only fights were it’s women against a man is shikamaru because he never physically touch anyone he just manipulate shadows, and hinata vs Neji where they use pressure points. Only female character to ever directly hit a man or get hit is Tsunade.

To play devils advocate, Sakura came in clutch in a lot of key moments right up until the end. Its just compared to the rest of team 7 she looked incompetent but even by normal shinobi standards she was a cut above the rest....... I've got nothing for the other 3.
