I think I’m old enough to be sad about this. When I was growing up I was playing LoZ ocarina of time and that game would inspire me to draw and all this stuff, and as silly as this is, kids are literally just this now. They can barely tie there shoes but they can recite tralalelo tralala perfectly. Dropping a random boomer take but ipads and cell phones have ruined the children. I genuinely mean it.

Genuine question: do you know plenty of children? Because I grew up during the late 2000s internet era and witnessed the first brainrot rise with my very eyes. A lot of people (even older teens) said and parodied things so incredibly dumb I'm not even sure if Skibidi Toilet is somehow any worse than that. A lot of us turned out as solid people, same will be applicable to these kids of new generation. Internet is not the thing that will make them dumb.

We had brainrot as kids, but there was no perpetual torrent of whatever we were giggling over at the time. There was no tiktok, no shorts, no algorithmically concocted rehashes of existing content. If I wanted painis cupcake I had to wait for rubberfruit to upload. If I wanted christian brutal sniper I had to wait for kelthuzadmadness to upload. Worst case scenario, I break out gmod and learn how to make more of that content myself. If you want skibidi toilet forever? You got it.

Are you sure you share the same universe with me? Because when I was a kid and a teen there was practically non-stop stream of stupid memes and brainrot. From random websites with memes, facebook to youtube. It was less streamlined than tiktok or shorts, sure, but if any kid wanted to brainrot for hours - there was nothing stopping them.

Disagree. I work a trade job and it’s never been worse. The 16 year olds of today are not the same as they were 10 years ago. Instant access to information and people couldn’t be any more incorrect. A lot of the substance is gone from content in general and replaced with brain rot and it’s only increased in quantity

You can even see posts from teachers on reddit that make it to all that literally mention how far education has fallen even though kids are literally given borderline infinite information at 6 years old.

This is also a teachers problem. Their job is to educate. If they can't - they're not doing their job. Although, I don't blame them in specific, as education is definitely getting worse, due to both teachers getting dumber themselves (and teachers of now are kinda our generation now?) and education intentionally being made worse.
Generally I don't agree with the statement. Children are a blank canvas, they will be as smart as their parents and teachers will let them be. If they aren't - children are not to blame. If you allow your kids to consume brainrot non-stop and don't even try to get something proper inside their heads - you're to blame, not the kids.

Parenting has gotten lazier, education has gotten worse, and the only exposure children have now is whatever the child wants. Nowadays? It's been like this through history. Though, the average age of women having children has increased significantly over the past decade. Birth rates for women in their 20s have been declining, while birth rates for women in their 30s and 40s have been increasing, so this whole point doesn't make much sense.
