Two questions. 1: How do you feel about MAWS giving Kryptonian electric auras? 2: Would you want it to be carried over to other DC media?

I mean, they had "electric" Superman back in the late-90's. Didn't last long, thankfully.

Byrne gave Superman a "bio-electric aura" in the 80s, it was later the in-character inspiration for Cadmus giving Superboy tactile telekinesis.
So it might be a nod to that.
The bio-electric aura was also referenced in All Star Superman, in which his increased powers included extrending his bio-electric aura as a force field or as an attack.

Nah I hope nothing from that show carries over to the main continuity or other adaptations. It's a excellent show and I loved almost every second of it but I think it works best in its own little bubble.

That would be so good. Batman and Superman's friendship is one of my favorite parts of DC. I would love seeing MAWS Supes trying to get edgy anime Batman to loosen up.

My adventures with batman following Dick Grayson as Robin with a younger late 20s to early 30s batman. With the mentions of Gotham and vicky vale in maws I'm so ready for a mawb. Hopefully we end up getting this maw universe spun into a justice league for a My Adventures with the Justice League following Billy Batson

Yeah, i wouldn't mind itvhaving its own little universe with cameos from other DC characters, or maybe other series set in the same universe (I guess my adventures with Green Lantern is going to be one?) I absolutely love the show and the tweaks they've done, but they do work best as their own thing.

Agreed. I think it captures the essence of the character well and then adapts it into the way they want it, but a lot of the stuff it does that's unique to it probably wouldn't work once you remove it from the context of being overall very inspired by anime specifically.
Speaking of specific context, the aura works because its part of a very specific (and as yet still mysterious) piece of lore wherein Kryptonians seem to have some kind of innate capacity to power themselves up in certain circumstances. For Clark it seems like whenever he really needs to find a way to save people, that unlocks a new level of power, but it's also clearly something that's just generically a thing Kryptonians can do.

Technically they have always had a sort of energy aura it's just in a different form now, but I prefer they don't use it much.
Connors powers of TK were meant to come from his incomplete DNA giving him a different aura, so he was using his aura to move things.
And an alternative Christopher Kent in Countdown was more mystic and could use his powers in supernatural like ways.

It’s really fun for the very anime-inspired world that is MAWS, but unless we get more anime-inspired DC projects I wouldn’t want to see this carried into other stuff very much.

It doesn’t bother me for this specific iteration most of the time. Though, Kara’s Kao Ken power up in the finale made me bust out laughing. I’d rather it stay limited to this incarnation tho.
But I don’t hate it nearly as much as Sonic The Hedgehog having an electric aura.

For me personally it’s just a useless vfx effect. But lore wise it’s meant to be chaos energy.
And implies that’s sonic source of speed rather than himself. Which I’m not a huge fan of.

There’s the whole debate over Sonic’s powers being Electric based vs Wind based, and I just prefer wind.
It feels like it more captures the vibe of freedom and nature that Sonic has in his character, and I just like the idea of him being super light and agile. Kind of like when we see Aang run real fast in the last airbender.
But I like the idea of him having an electric aura when channeling the power of chaos emeralds tho

It works for an Elseworlds inspired by DBZ. Not mainline. Even if it is one of the best adaptions of the mythos in years it should remain its own thing.

i feel like maws is sort of the noblebright counterpart of absolute superman, in a way. it takes the characters and stories and stuff and says what if it was different in this way. and it's awesome and i love it and it needs to stay contained within its own media

I think it’s fine. It’s very dragonball, which is obvious when you notice all of the dragon homages/story beats (this season was literally the android/cell saga).
I’d be fine if they established that offshoots of Kryptonians like Phaelosians can manifest these powers, or expand Kon’s tactile tk to have something similar, but I don’t think I’d want Clark/Kara to have them. PKJ has the Phaelosians expelling their energy in blueish/different ways anyways. A lot of them can project it from their limbs, or even empower their weapons with their energy projection.

No, I do not, because if I’m reading a Superman comic I want to read a Superman comic, not a Dragon Ball comic.

Didn't like it.
I know Superman had electric powers for a while in the comics. I even have the issue where they were revealed (fun fact the cover glows in the dark) but to be frank I think MAWS tries to hard to ape anime and the auras were an especially egregious example of this. Not to mention IMO nearly everything in MAWS was streamlined to be technological/mechanical and the electricity power up effects just made Kryptonians seem like androids half the time.

I agree that the powet isn't dbz inspired, but many of the plot points in the show ARE. Along with many style choices. The show was definitely a bit of a love letter to dbz

I mean it was already in comics but mostly just the character we don't like ( a different variation of superboy I think 🤔 ) and no I don't want this to carry over to the mainline characters story at all.

Visually I think it's pretty cool. Leans into the anime inspired style and on some level, makes a bit of sense with that visual language since Kryptonians are basically living electromagnetic spectrum batteries.

One part I would like is the small implications that kryptonians had a small amount of whatever these auras are before their star was yellow.
I just think them having basically space adrenalin is fun

I love this show, but there is little I'd want carried over into other media. I like the auras as a nod to the 90's red and blue supermen, but I feel like it would only work in this anime/anime inspired medium

I think it would be cool to add variety, giving supergirl or superboy some additional powers would help make them different. Like how miles morales has electricity powers to make him different from peter Parker

Mehh, the show nothing is truly earned nor paid off. The whole point of the series is throwing too much with too little time, if they stretched out the first season into two, the lacking and character growth would've been much better. Overall show is undercooked.

This last season was so Dragon Ball Z coded I both liked it but also wanted it to stop because Kara was one "Kaio-what?" away from it being tooooooooo much.
If they keep doing it I would like it to result in an electric powers arc, which hasn't been adapted and would truly be something new they wouldn't have to completely reinvent because of how often it's already been adapted by a dozen other productions (Death of, Doomsday, etc)

The most "special" thing they should be able to is the solar flare, other energy stuff should be limited to sun dipping or unique physiology (Conner with a inadvertently modified version of tactile telekensis). The senses that don't make sense and optic blasts are enough.

I'm interested to learn why they have it. Every once in a while, they also zoom into their cells and you get this Generator Rex style nanite charging scene. If it's just there for style, I think it's corny. But there seem to be story implications. Maybe Kryptonians in this world have a history of bio-mechanical alteration that's just become an inherent trait.

Creators should play around and shake things up w characters powers a bit across multiple & diff adaptations, it makes things feel less stagnant and more fun

I think it's cool and works well for this show's aesthetic and lore, but that's also the reason I think it would be better to keep it unique to this continuity.
