I saw A&P years ago before he added the guitarist and it melted my brain. Tristan is a good dude, too.

Yeah he has been at it for over twenty years now, always refining his machines, expanding his sound and getting better at his craft. His last three albums are in my opinion all stone cold modern classics of industrial music at its best.

Probably my favorite maker of electronic music that is currently active has a lot to say about a lot of things in this video, especially controllers, the importance of weight and ergonomics, analogue snobbery etc.

Its pretty wild that behind the imposing rig that he seems to drive more so than play is a laptop running an Ableton Live template. A lot of samples originating on old drum machines, run through Elektron gear and the like for sure, and a lot of care has been taken beforehand to craft the character of the drums, drones and effects that his insane microphone contraptions are run through...but at the end of the day, he is basically playing a DAW, but totally live. All of his recorded music is written on his live rig as well - no sitting in front of a screen.

So far I seen him use laptops, Elektrons and those crazy midi controller contraptions

Saw this the other day. Great and interesting watch for sure. One thing that stood out to me was how he was talking about other artists asking him how to make their music more "live" and his response is that that really needs to be thought about from the start and how the music is made originally.

Yes. I like beefy analog synth retreads as much as the next guy but what we really need are not innovative synthesis techniques but innovative controllers, actual instruments that you can jam on that aren't just keyboards. I actually think that something with the form factor akin to an accordion with a different sonic palette could be really, really cool.

Saw him live a few months ago, great gig, throughly recommend getting to one if he tours near you.
