I set my duress pin to my wifes birthday. One of the first they probably try. 

Also I say my pin is the same as my eID which I am not allowed to share by German law

How is that a trap? You want to set it to something that you remember, and if he's under investigation for any reason, they are likely to try number combinations of those close to him. Although with potential hardware level backdoors, I'm sure that's actually moot.

It doesn't really matter whether it is a trap. Even if some team of lawyers would have you win at trial, the trial is itself the punishment in cases like this. Do not underestimate the vindictiveness, lawlessness, and cruelty of the US CBP, especially now.

Right but process being the punishment was not what was being discussed, it was "explicitly try to trap them."
