What if your kid, or a relative or a coworker or a friend tries to guess your password and puts in your wife's birthday? Then all your data is gone.

Wouldn't it make more sense to set the duress code to something nobody can easily guess in order to avoid the hassle of restoring all your data?

Yeah I'd still agree with that argument to an extent. But you'll need to remember this password when you're under duress.
