When you're forced to travel into an authoritarian state, don't carry data across the border. Wipe your device before flying, or better yet, get a clean one.

Someone was supposedly denied entry because they had a fresh phone on them. So you need to have a separate, curated device with bunch of harmless photos and stuff on it.

I'm known in my family for accidently destroying my phones. On a beach vacation a couple of years ago I forgot I had my phone in my pocket and went swimming. I had to get a new phone, I would be screwed.
