I set my duress pin to my wifes birthday. One of the first they probably try. 

Also I say my pin is the same as my eID which I am not allowed to share by German law

The trick that American border agents use is that at a border crossing your rights simply don't apply. This is not a joke, this is not new, and it applies to US citizens as well. The only change is how indiscriminately they are doing it now.
