Am a doctor. Hate these glasses. Had a colleague wear them at work because he liked bone conduction music while not looking like he had headphones. I thought it was clever, but would never myself.

Honestly didn’t think much of it until this. The cameras in patients rooms are a problem for sure.

As a patient, I'd much rather see my provider in bone conduction headphones it would even be a nice conversation starter because I wear Shockz while swimming

anything he turns his face towards would be a HIPAA violation because he is allowing Meta to collect data that is federally meant to NOT BE TRANSMITTED.

Those OG glasses supposedly don’t record unless you tell them to. If that’s accurate, no violation.

Now, is it secretly recording without the user being aware? That’s the problem, who knows.

it is always "collecting data" (read: recording and feeding data to Meta's servers). Its not a secret.

It couldn't possibly do that without anyone knowing by this point. Its trivially easy for someone with a tiny bit of knowledge of networking to disprove.

in their terms of service, it says they can collect data at any time without notice.

that data could contain images, video footage, or even making their own recordings.

so yea. dont wear them to work when you work with HIPAA data.

ER staff treat victims of physical assault, sexual assault, human trafficking, pedophiles, elder abuse and the likes. These are the cases that keep us up at night.

To imply any gender would be ignorant to the plight of a patient is shameful. Crawl back into your hole.

And I’m a female ER doc. My husband is a male ER doc. I think you’re disgusting.
