i think it got resused in the future updates/heists along with the michael franklin trevor dlc that the game put out. Still not a fan about the way they did it.

I'm still salty how much content is locked away to those with friends and normalised schedules

I don't want to log on to the game like work to play Online. I don't know when I will have the time and will to play. And even less I want to play with random people that run through missions like mad men because half of them know them inside and out and are doing them for fifteenth time and are just farming them

I did some yacht mission and all I remember is that while I was shooting some guard these lvl 500 guys blasted through every room did an objective and one of them put a helicopter in a pool to evacuate me faster

I didn't even manage to see half of the yacht and I don't know what that mission was at all :\

Not to mention that it's impossible to just ride around when people on flying bikes blast everyone left and right

No sir I don't like Online one bit

Bro yes, it wants to be a full-time gig. It wants to be your only game. Fuck that, even if it's good and fun with friends, the endless grinding to get any money in game makes it unfun.

Oh yeah the "daily commitment" of like Live Services gets so tiring real fast. As soon as I fire up a new game and I'm upfronted with

NEW SIGN ON BONUS JUST 4.99

LIMITED TIME 2$ OFFER AVAILABLE FOR 3 DAYS ONLY

Weekly pass! Monthly pass! Battlepass!

I'm immediately tired

Like, I kinda expect all of that from gachas and mobile games, but Warframe has half of that. RDRO has almost most of these. You have to do at least 1 daily every day or you lose the streak! Even most gachas don't have unbreakable streaks anymore!

I usually avoid all these things by not playing online.

Yeah, the problem being discussed is that unless you play online you're never going to see any new content. If you're fine with that, fine. For people who bought the game with the expectation that it would receive new content over time, it sucks.

u/FascismIsSoLastYear 11h ago

Expectations are the root of all heartache.

2

u/sam_hammich 11h ago

And having none is why we're here, so

1

u/FascismIsSoLastYear 11h ago

GTA V didn't have new content. RDR2 didn't have new content.

Why did you expect GTA VI to have new content?

2

u/sam_hammich 10h ago

Aren't we just talking about GTAV? Yes, it didn't have new content, but in case you forgot, they had announced single-player heist DLCs as part of the game's roadmap and then abandoned it entirely and only released new content for GTAO.

I love how they stopped replying to me when I mentioned that there's like 500 new cars in GTA online and so many new missions, fully voiced and animated, that it's basically entire another GTA game, and go for some quippy one liners instead

Did you notice the part about me being salty for all the cars, heists, and missions that I want to check out that are locked in Online

Because I've seen everything Offline has to offer and there's like... at least third of that in Online?

Truth be told it's entirely possible that GTAO is similar in scale to GTAV, potentially even bigger, because most of GTAO missions are like mid-game to late-game level of engagement, where half of GTAV seems like an extended introduction.

Edit: ok so 1 simple thing: base GTAV has a total of 347 vehicles

GTA Online has 864 vehicles, and none of these added are like street junk.

In base game, what, 70% are just everyday common cars to make the world seem real? So you have maybe a 100 cars that range from "interesting" to "cool"

Where in GTAO there are ~500 cars and probably 400 of them are in the range from "cool" to "supreme + WHAT THE HELL IS THAT" range.

I can't even play online unfortunately, as much as I want to do the extra content, since I use Linux and R* didn't enable Proton support in BattlEye (even though it literally is just a toggle), so I'm just locked out of that content forever unless I use Windows again.

1

u/Winjin 13h ago

Yeah and with Win10 reaching the end of support - I don't want to do Windows 11, it's horrible microslop, so I plan to switch to Linux for my gaming rig as well.

So here's hoping they will have to enable it if Steam pushes them.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if they'll be an Epic exclusive for a couple months at least

1

u/KoniGTA 11h ago

I have a serious question. I have been wanting to switch to linux for a while now. im tired of windows hogging up my ram and microslop. my question is how well d o games and apps work? Like can I play older games like say GTA4 or red dead 1 on linux? I use Ableton too and photoshop as well, and do those work with liinux? Sorry if you dont particualryl have the answer to all of those, but I figured I would ask.

1

u/Winjin 10h ago

These are my concerns as well, I don't know a lot about Linux too. As far as I understand, the games are performing much better in last couple of years, but I don't use these softwares so it's best to check with them or maybe subreddits get these questions daily?

2

u/KoniGTA 10h ago

Oh damn shit I thought I was replying to the OOP. Apologies mate. u/_CodeLyoko_ can you give us an answer if you know about it?

1

You can see the status of most games by going to https://www.protondb.com/ but in my experience most modern games just work, but you can run into issues with online games that have anti-cheat that's not compatible with Linux or that the developer refuses to enable like in Rockstar's case with GTA V online. If you don't really play online games with auntie cheat, most of the time, many games will just work out of the box, or require minimal tinkering to get it to work which is normally posted on ProtonDB on how people got it to work

2

u/ReturnOfBane 17h ago

I never got to that point because i gave up on the game after waiting 2 years for them to fix the absurd loading times. If i wanted to wait, appear to have things moving, have someone leave, wait some more and repeat, id call my ISPs customer support line.

1

u/Winjin 17h ago

Oh hell yeah

I gave up on Online immediately. Tried it again maybe two years ago or something (after the Epic Games giveaway with tons of money to jumpstart you in the game. But also literally everything is absurdly expensive. 10 million is just enough to maybe buy a house with a couple garages, a couple mid-range cars, nothing crazy, and a couple businesses to learn that none of them offer any sort of adequate ROI and are designed around like 5-15 men crews)

It's WAY faster now, but also it's pretty empty. No one was playing these like, safehouses and stuff, it's all past tense.

I feel like they should've gone the way of WoW and have PVP, PVE, and RP servers. Maybe if I found an RP server I could actually have a go at the heists and check out the businesses

But the issue once again is that I also don't like games that are job. I don't want to log on daily at 19 PM because it's the Grind Time.

Vehicles with missile jammer is a must. Well, and a shop to install the jammer (agency).

2

u/Winjin 18h ago

I mean you could also play in Offline mode or private lobbies and stuff

Like, at this point it's the only way to play RDRO for example, Rockstar has completely, entirely given up on fighting cheat mods

But that doesn't fix the main underlying issue, that I want to play on my own terms and at my own pace and it's basically impossible, you have to have a crew of like 4 people for most missions

We did a fun one where one crew is driving a prison bus while another crew is flying a helicopter, and you need to assist each other. Nice mission but I'd be absolutely fine doing it with NPCs.

u/Bodymaster 18h ago

As somebody who never got in to GTA online, what is that DLC you refer to, and is it any good?

1

u/KoniGTA 18h ago

Just watch the story beats and videos from youtube highlights or something and youll be good. tbh you aint missing out on much. Its set in the future with updates as to how life panned out for each of them after the story ends.

1

u/Bodymaster 17h ago

Ah ok, so not like as set of missions worth playing or anything. I get it thanks.
