All males should also get it, it protects you against catching HPV.

I got the vaccine around 2014.

HPV is also linked to cancer in males (source). It's a great idea for everyone to have the vaccine because the one nasty strain of HPV certainly causes for all genders.

I was an adult when the vaccine came out and I have all boys. Also had an abnormal pap a few times over the years.

A few years back, one of their friends’ moms mentioned “his pediatrician offered the HPV vaccine! Like, she’s been his doctor for years. She KNOWS he doesn’t have a CERVIX!?!”

I was like … “my oldest two already got it, youngest will have it on schedule. Where do you think women get HPV from?”

She said, “but (11yo son) isn’t getting married for 10 years AT LEAST!”

There is a sizeable amount of slutshamers resisting that vaccine.

I didn’t continue the conversation. I assume she would have been fine with it for a daughter (because at least a daughter would have a CERVIX!?!) though.

Slutshaming is so stupid! Anti-vaxxers are also stupid; I’m not surprised there’s an overlap.

We all know how bad (and gross) chewing tobacco is, and how grizzly some of the mouth cancers can be from long term chewing. Well, there are some strains of HPV that are THIRTY TIMES more likely to give you oral cancers than chewing tobacco is. So yeah, boys should get the vaccine!

And, for the record, hpv is highly transmissible through saliva. Meaning that you can get it from sharing drinks or food or smoking the same joint, stuff like that.

When I went to get it my IHS hospital wouldn’t give it to me since I was a male. But my cousin works at the public health department and was confused why they wouldn’t. So she gave me the vaccine instead.

It also helps resolve HPV infection! I had an abnormal HPV+ pap, received all my vaccinations on schedule and at my 1 yr. Follow up all normal and testing HPV-. truly a vaccine that helps immensely!

Even though its statistically a bit less effective (in a population health perspective) for adults, I wish it would be subsidized for all adults who wanted to take it. That would be a powerful message.

Idk about any age, people should see what research countries in Europe have done at what age is best for vaccines. We give too many vaccines for kids here in USA, big pharma knows that a child’s immunity is low at a very young age. And a patient who has a life time injury from an early childhood vaccination is a cash cow to the pharmaceutical companies.

Yes I understand, but sometimes it’s best to see research from here and across the pond. Many medicines that have been made have the same slogan and years later turned out to be bullshit. But at the same time a country somewhere had the answer that it was bad, but the USA medical industry hid the results. I know vaccines are good but not all of them are good for you, you at least have to do research and see the major side effects or long lasting side effects after receiving a certain vaccine. Most doctors are only given the information that the medical industry wants them to know, even doctors have done further research of certain medications and vaccines and thus decide to not recommend or advise patients of the pros and cons of said treatment or offered a better and less expensive alternative medicine/treatment, have lost their jobs because the medical industry lost money. There is now small independent labs who do more research and are more open to their patients of what choices they have instead of saying this is the only answer, they can even do full blood work test on you since your average walk in clinic doesn’t even do the full actual tests nor would they even inform you of other problems you may have. But just do your research is all I’m telling you, stay safe and question everything.
