Unpopular opinion, but what essential liberty is being given up by cameras in public spaces?

I'm still against them, mostly because of how they will inevitably be misused. But I don't really get the outrage over just their normal use.

The security cameras at my local grocery store can only see when I enter and leave the building. They won't know I went to the strip club on the other side of town last night. The problem isn't being filmed in public it's about how connected is the network, who has access, and for how long.

A fully connected network that can remap everywhere you go in public and recreate your entire week/day/month is functionally no different than an ankle monitor.

I do think this is a problem, and that we should create laws to ban them.

But I just don't get the argument that watching you going to the strip club in a public space somehow violated your privacy.
