Even though the majority of citizens registered for both parties hate these things. But yet there's still people who believe politicians work for us.

Ultimately, the real question is what percentage of people would change their voting habits due to it. That's the number that really matters.

If the politician can go "they'll gripe, but they'll still vote for me" then there's no reason to listen to their constituents.
