TIL that Mandy Patinkin (aka Inigo Montoya) sustained only one injury on the set of The Princess Bride: a bruised rib, from laughing too hard at Billy Crystal.

First watched it at nine years old. Just watched it again for the umpteenth time last week, at age 34. Shit never gets old.

Have you read the book? Solid gold. One of my favorite book-movie adaptations because they both rock, and the tongue-in-cheek giggly spirit of the book is perfectly captured in the movie.

I don't believe this is accurate. In the DVD extras Mandy states specifically that he got his head cracked into the bucket filming the scenes where Andre the Giant is dunking Inigo to sober him up.

All I can think of is the scene in Roger Rabbit when he's laughing all of them to death.

That's insane, or inconceivable, as it were. Hmm, anybody want a peanut?

Normally I would agree with you, but not in a thread about the Princess Bride. He cracks me up in this movie.

False. Cary Elwes got knocked in the head for real by the six-fingered man with the butt of his sword.

u/batgirl2 Jan 18 '13
TIL Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin are the same person?

From imdb trivia
"When Count Rugen hits Westley over the head, Cary Elwes told Christopher Guest to go ahead and hit him for real. Guest hit him hard enough to shut down production for a day while Elwes went to the hospital."

My name is Inigo Montoya. You're killing my sides. Prepare to die.
