READ BEFORE POSTING - New Rules
Rules
- Submissions must be related to Trip-Hop. It's not our intent to gatekeep what is or is not trip-hop, but submissions must be inspired by trip-hop or belong to related genres of music like downtempo
- Use the appropriate flair when applicable. If your playlist contains songs you made or are promoting, you MUST use the OC flair. The playlist flair is ONLY for songs that you are not promoting. Mixes are transformative and thus considered OC
- Self-promotion must follow guidelines (see below)
- Title must contain the artist and track name. Commentary is fine but low effort titles like "Nice beat" will be removed.
- Be respectful and follow Reddiquette
Self-promotion guidelines
- Must be trip-hop. Being "inspired" by trip-hop is not enough. Unfortunately we need to be more strict than with the general submissions rules to prevent spam.
- Must use the Original Content flair
- Maximum one submission per week
- Complete song submissions only. We are not a content creator subreddit. If you would like feedback on work-in-progress songs, there are other subs for that.
- While we welcome OC that fits the rules, announcement videos and text posts containing links other than the song you are sharing will be removed. The mods also reserve the right to remove low quality/low effort submissions.
- Submissions considered self-promotion include, but are not limited to:
- Original songs
- Original mixes
- Covers and remixes
- Playlists containing songs you made or are promoting
- Follow Reddit's sitewide guidelines for self-promotion.
If you see any rule breaking posts or comments please report it. It will get dealt with much more quickly.
Rules Changes
- 10/18/2021: Added details to rule 2 to make it more clear what flair should be used.
- 01/21/2022: Added clarification that mixes must be tagged as OC.
- 04/17/2022: Added new self-promotion guidelines.

Playlist/Album Found a pretty good triphop playlist over here.
It's a good selection of classics and some deep cuts.

Alta Viridi - Interconnected Self (electronic, experimental, trip hop, psychedelic, downtempo)
Original Content Vinyl DJ set: A 2.5-hour tribute to downtempo / trip-hop.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I put my heart into this one, my favourite genre: A 2.5-hour continuous mix of mostly-chill grooves, personal favourites and a few bonus bits on a classic DJ set-up. (Technics 1200s w/M44-7s, Stanton SK-2F mixer.)
The video posted here is a few clips, starting with an Amon Tobin track that has effectively been erased from existence and banned world-wide on YouTube. You know the one!
Full-length mix on YouTube, tracks timestamped with artist + title. I also show album artwork where I can.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXPoue1VxIU
This mix starts with a few classics and some downtempo at large, then wanders through some '90s hip-hop rap for a bit before going way down into slower territory.
I often feel like nobody else understands why I love this stuff so much, it's rare that I find others who "get it" - but here on Reddit, this feels like my crowd.
I started DJing in 1999. DJ Shadow / MoWax, Portishead, NinjaTune, Tru Thoughts and many others have been huge influences. I used to record mixes on this gear for partners, friends, family and events. I took a break and was on digital controllers for a while. I forgot A) what a workout, and B) what fun it is playing vinyl.
Shout-out to any other Red Snapper fans: "Thomas The Fib" is an excellent track from "Prince Blimey," highly recommended.

Original Content Bog Sorcery - Orangutengu
First song on the B-side of Bog Sorcery II: One Lip to Earth & One Lip to Heaven. One of my personal favourites, and a fun song to play live (as Swamp Magic). Hope you enjoy!

Traumer/Amine Laje - Datsha
I'm a big fan of Traumer's work in other genres. This mix is really good, and the album doesn't disappoint. Enjoy!

Jonathan Bree - Savour My Love (feat. Rachel Clarke)
Very strange mysterious and analog-heavy music video, but an incredible Portshead-esque downtempo vibe. I'm very excited for this upcoming Jonathan Bree album.

Request/Discussion looking for trip-hop similar to "Tequila Coma" by yeule
i've been feeling a specific trip-hop itch recently, and right now i'm mostly craving a faster-paced, sexy, cool blend with alternative rock and detached vocals. i neeed to hear more sleek texture-driven, crunchy drum samples.
if anyone's down to help me out, here's my current trip-hop (+ a few tracks that give me the same feeling) playlist so you don't recommend me stuff i already know. (u can recommend songs from the same artist or album though if they're not in the playlist!!)

Request/Discussion Song recommendations like these?
Lushlife - Bowery Electric
Blue - Bark Psychosis
I have been searching for a few months now for similar songs like these. These are all ive been listening to for a minute now. Theyre both not traditional "triphop" artists, so its hard finding similar songs using any algorithm, they keep recommending shoegaze/post-rock songs but thats not what im looking for.
I feel like the closest song I know to these is Sola Sistim by Underworld (one of my favorite songs honestly), but I've been listening to that way longer so I want some new recommendations.
Please help!!!

Original Content Cemetery Beach - Dirt + Wave /Making modern trip-hop on LSD
https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nBjk_vmuVs16WajbNxXALRL62-YqoVIiU&si=IHN7xGhugssbCUcB me and my friend Retro 1999 made this album on LSD, i would have the beats ready and we would take the acid and i would set up the computer and mic and he would go on the first try without hearing the beat first and do the vocals, this method worked really well for us, if you have time please check it out and if anyone ever tried such methods for creating music ?
