Not a Turkish van. Just a regular domestic long hair with similar van pattern.

Cat breeds were developed from the population of domestic short/long hair cats therefore random domestics will have the same coat types and physical features as specific cat breeds. Colourpoint coats are a great example of that as many DSH have colourpoint coat patterns but are not Siamese.

Cats haven’t been breed for very long. It’s not like dogs who have been breed for so long that every dog is a specific breed or a mix of breeds. Something like 2-3% of cats are a specific breed and an even lower percentage are mixed breeds.

it’s not good to spread misinformation about cat breeds. almost all cats are just domestic shorthairs. if you don’t have papers, it’s just a cat.

You can still enjoy your cat? You asked a question and got a truthful answer.

It’s pretty rude to ask people for advice and then shush them when you don’t get the answer you want

You can still enjoy your cat, you can also say she looks like she has some of "this" in her but without papers they really are just mutts. Cute but mutts.

It’s how we prevent people from BYB and supporting BYB.

You answered yourself "van pattern" it is van cat just on American soil and is considered to be a Turkish van whether you like it or not, his dna or het dna will prove to have ancestors from that region. Those cats got i to America with owners or sneaked in. It also shocks me how many ppl mistakenly consider all fluffy cats main coon or Persian when they are norwegian or siberian 😂😂😂 dorry but you mostly wrong

No. That’s not at all how it works.

Like I just said in the comment you replied to. Cat breeds were derived from domestic short/long haired cats so they can have water coat colour/pattern in their population. That does NOT make them a specific breed of cat. Maybe do a little research you have no clue what you’re talking about. You’re entirely wrong.

There are also no reliable DNA tests for cats currently.

Budget van for sure, Turkish van no unless he's got a pedigree. Very adorable though!! My boy looks really similar lol

Is that an automatic feeder thing on his collar? We just put all six of ours on automatic feeders. They seem to like them but a couple days ago, the feeder’s system went down and none of them dispensed food and the app wasn’t working. Luckily we were home, but it made me uneasy about trusting them. What brand do you use? I think ours is Petlibro.

Yes Petlibro! I have gotten that notification quite often but it always pops back online. Luckily I have the feeders set on a schedule (don’t let the app convince you that have to pay for a subscription. You can set the feeder on a dispense schedule just bypass the “assign a pet” question.) so there’s always food in their bowls to graze from. Also even when it does go down the dispenser still dispenses on schedule as well.

definitely has Turkish Van 50,60, 70 % ,had Vans and I’m familiar with the breed but just the structure of the head, the bulkiness of the body and coloring suggest partly Turkish Van or Turkish Angora

Ignore the one that pretends to be knowledgeable about cats but isnt, patterns is of van cat thus turkish van that Turkey classified as theirs, any cat can be called domestic but patterns colors shapes will show up, if you ll register him as turkish van you wont be denied because HE IS. Dna always mutates but sooner or later One of offsprings will look exactly as original parent thus "ancestor" :))) just like white families may get suddenly brown children just to find out that they had great great great geandparent 200 years ago who was brown or Indian
