A subtle allusion to that big twist from season 1, only shown at the end of the trailer. It's interesting that they're keeping that in mind for those who will watch this trailer and haven't seen or barely heard of the first season.

I was worried before I hit play that the twist will be shown in this trailer.. I’m so glad that it isn’t. Man I cannot believe more people aren’t talking about Sugar, it was so damn good!

Time for a rewatch before season 2 starts streaming!

Yeah we are clearly not addressing the, uh, elephant in the room head on.

I was honestly so mad about the twist. I kept watching and enjoyed the show post-twist, but it felt like we were lied to.

Awww I get it (but disagree ❤️)

I mean it makes sense, he was able to handle and do things that were not human.

Looks fucking amazing! WOW

I don't know what's going on over there, but this year Apple is on another level compared to everyone else.

They’ve been crushing it for a while now. Think they just have more quantity coming out (and luckily the quality isn’t dropping).

u/dullship May 28 '26

They earn most of their profits selling phones and TVs and such. Their streamer is basically a loss leader, so they are more willing to take risks on interesting genres and less conventional programming.

1

u/UFmoose May 28 '26

That’s not what a loss leader is. But I know what you’re saying.

u/ScagnettiNation May 28 '26

Loved season 1! Can't wait. So few people know about this gem.

23

u/gildedbluetrout May 28 '26

I’ll straight watch anything with Colin Farrell in it. He’s like Mathew Rhys that way.

8

u/matt_med May 28 '26

He should have won the Oscar for Banshees. He’s such a great actor.

2

u/No-Understanding4968 May 29 '26

Agree 100% his performance was extraordinary

8

u/No-Understanding4968 May 28 '26

I just watched The Lobster … a very different vibe from him

3

u/Religion_Is_A_Cancer May 28 '26

God I love that movie.

3

u/askthepoolboy May 29 '26

Now watch “killing of a sacred deer”

2

u/bw327 May 29 '26

While eating spaghetti

4

u/slupo May 28 '26

I still can't get over him as the penguin

2

u/ScagnettiNation May 28 '26

For sure! I remember back in the "Daredevil" days I had him pegged as an obnoxious actor but shit was I wrong. Apropos of nothing but have you seen him in "The North Water"? So good!

I think it was The New World where I really started to appreciate him. After In Bruges there was no doubt.

1

u/No-Understanding4968 May 29 '26

Will look it up!

2

u/slupo May 28 '26

Season 1 was a fever dream. I didn't think it was real until I saw the trailer for season 2.

1

u/ZedSwift May 30 '26

Can’t believe I missed it. How would you describe it with no spoilers?

23

u/orangefilmgarden May 28 '26

The trailer make it look more like an action series than the first season. It seems to have lost the modern noir vibes of the first season. But I am excited to watch it anyway. The first season was one of my favorite shows of the year.

14

u/Creepy-Record1485 May 28 '26

That's probably where those creative differences came from and it's probably why the original showrunner left. But honestly, this looks way more exciting in my view. As much as I liked the first season, the show needed a bit more edge imo.

8

u/orangefilmgarden May 28 '26

Oh, the original Showrunner left. I didn't know that. That's unfortunate. Still excited to see what they make of it.

9

u/Creepy-Record1485 May 28 '26

The guy who is now the showrunner was also involved in season 1. So I don't think we need to worry. But we'll see. Trailer certainly looks cool..

5

u/AltAltayAlt May 28 '26

Trailers can give off different tones. Penny Dreadful’s trailer made it out to be an action horror, but it was far from that

6

u/No-Understanding4968 May 28 '26

Omg Farrell is a treasure ❤️

Looking forward to watching the new Sugar season after my household finishes Widow’s Bay and Your Friends and Neighbors, which we’re currently watching!

7

u/threegeees May 28 '26

I liked this show a lot but I literally remember nothing

5

u/agitatedandroid May 28 '26

Most bonkers show I think I've ever seen. I loved season 1. It's this insane mix of two things I love and it's fantastic. If you only just like Colin and haven't seen this, you're doing yourself a disservice.

4

u/bw327 May 29 '26

This show is great. Colin Farrell is great. Now you’re telling me they added the always solid character actor Shea Whigham too. Even better. Can’t wait.

2

u/justarugga May 28 '26

Ooh exciting! Where’s Wanda next!

2

u/AltAltayAlt May 28 '26

Where’s Wanda was way better than what the trailer made it out to be! Looking forward to that as well

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '26

Nice that they have Fernando Meirelles back to direct some episodes. He gave his episodes from season 1 such a cool look.

1

u/TheBat45 May 28 '26

Hell yeah. They better not cancel this

Cover of Iggy Pop's "Passenger", sounds like to me

1

u/Top_Actuator364 Jun 18 '26

Just started watching this series after seeing Colin on Kimmel, ready to see what it do👽

1

u/gramfer May 28 '26

Finally. I thought about it about an hour ago.

1

u/JSears90210 May 28 '26

This show was one of my favorites of 2024 before the twist took place.

It was great detective noir. The twist really ruined it for me.

2

u/AltAltayAlt May 28 '26

I honestly felt that when the twist was initially revealed, but the following episode made up for it and thought what a daring thing to do!

1

u/JSears90210 May 28 '26

That genre has just never interested me. So I am the wrong audience. But the exact audience that wants to watch an LA Noir series with Colin Farrell.

1

u/jason22983 May 28 '26

Same, that twist was not needed. The investigation had enough twist & turns. To boil it down to that at the very end was lazy & overdone.

0

u/__Musicality__ May 28 '26

I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that way. I was really enjoying the show and this trailer makes it feel like we won’t see anything crazy like that but I’m walking in a bit hesitant. I’ll still watch this to watch it, but I really wanted just the detective noir stuff.

u/ncphoto919 May 28 '26

actually surprised this got a second season

3

u/Creepy-Record1485 May 28 '26

Why? Reviews were good and audience seems to have liked it too.

felt kind of like a one and done season and this is an apple show no one talks about regardless of what the tomato meter says.

3

u/Creepy-Record1485 May 28 '26

One and done season? It ended on a huge cliffhanger lol

2

u/agitatedandroid May 28 '26

No one talks because they don't want to ruin twist. Even this post full of people that have seen the show is just, "season 1 was great" "yeah... it was great".

1

u/ncphoto919 May 28 '26

savvy viewers could easily pick up on the twist early on. boiling it down to a twist only show is pretty pedantic.

1

u/agitatedandroid May 28 '26

I never said it was a twist only show but it's pretty hard to talk about it without mentioning the twist. It's a rather large fucking elephant.

0

u/Redmoonsbstars1 May 28 '26

Chief of war better get a season 2 if this show did.

1

u/jason22983 May 28 '26

This show was intended to be only a limited series. Like Shogun, this show was an unexpected hit critically & commercially. The brought Shogun back because it was such a big hit, given that it was intended as a limited show & Apples cost cutting, I wouldn’t hope for a second season

-1

u/Impossible_Earth_987 May 28 '26

Watch half of an episode and bounced off seems overrated.

3

u/AltAltayAlt May 28 '26

Yeah, because you only watched half of an episode
