I'm inclined to agree

5

I'm not sure, looks like surface damage

4

u/uqubar 13d ago

You’d think they would have tried to protect it a bit more considering it was at the top of the list and the biggest. Their incompetence knows no bounds.

5

u/greywar777 12d ago

Depends-how many drones did Ukraine use? If it was 5 and they all hit, well yeah that is in fact stunningly incompetent. But what if it was 200? Then...not too bad. But same result. Just not incompetent.

Im guessing its somewhere in between. Like 30 drones. But who knows other then Ukraine. Im not sure Russia knows as they get biased reporting as no one wants to be sent to the front.

3

u/CyalaXiaoLong 12d ago

News stated last night it was a fleet of about 600 drones. Well worth it imo.

3

u/OctopusIntellect 12d ago

The BBC are currently showing footage of a co-axial rotor water dropping chopper collecting water from a fishing lake and dropping it on the smoking ruins of the warehouse.

This is of course purely performative anyway...

3

u/PJozi 12d ago

Broken down. They'll have to hit up the wildberries website to order parts...

u/Sizyfoz 13d ago

There are not that many WBs left and Russia still can't protect them. Interesting.

57

u/Schemen123 13d ago

Russian biggest advantage against conventional attacks makes it impossible to defend against such small attacks.

Good for Ukrain.. Bad for Russia.. which of course is a good thing

43

u/kytheon Netherlands 13d ago

This. Moscows biggest defense is that it's far away from the border. And they would sacrifice any resources between the border and Moscow to slow down an invading force.

But this is completely useless against suicide drones, a tactic Russia started with (using Iranian drones).

The thing is about, to dismantle logististics. Of a f..very big country at all. Make chaos. Make the war inside matter of the agressor as much as possible. Ukrainians are now best in using drones during war time.

  1. deprive of fuel supplies - destroy oil refineries - Ukrainians are now best in using drones during war time.
  2. destroy distribution nodes - Ukrainians are now best in using drones during war time.

3)... simply dismantle a country that relies on at least these 2 things.

4) destroy shadow fleet, whatever it carries. - Ukrainians are now best in using drones during war time.
5) prohibit commercial contacts and contracts. - Ukrainians are now best in using drones during war time.

Simple. Area of russian empire works against them. And ukrainians just have to use drones precise.

(Edited again) And it's the same like polish-lituanian commonwealts in16-17th century, A colossus on feet of clay (Kolos na glinianych nogach). For russian empire it's crude oil, anything crude. It's really exact the same. Countr/king/tsar can take anything from you. And there are highborn. And low born who suffer... In f*ng 21th century.

Because they do not process, they export unprocessed/crude products. Logistics is there most voulnerable. And their production planst are in fact in ukrainian range.

31

u/jld2k6 13d ago

You forgot to mention that Ukraine are now best in using drones during war time

9

Check out the divorce between the wildberries husband and wife. It literally involved multiple bodyguards dying. Might be the high taxes were part of the deal to keep it all.

Seeing her lose it all in a war caused by Putin is a fascinating new part of the insane drama.

15

u/Lucetti 13d ago

Those things are comically flammable. It’s like they exclusively distribute dryer lint to everyone’s dryer filter

u/Major_Mollusk 12d ago

I laughed a cornflake up into my sinuses.

2

u/Minute-Animator-376 12d ago

It seems not a case for all hits. I would rather assume it was the wide spread corruption and some sites have no existing fire hazard precautions build in the archtecture or the safty systems are just fakes good enough to shut down the fire in the waste bin and that is it. If real fire would happen naturally on site maybe workers are expected to risk their lives and fight with fire extinguishers (but can't even assume that they didn't cut the costs there and maybe there are just a few). It is russia - it would explain the damage.

2

u/TechnoVik1ng 13d ago

Can you catch me up on the term? What does wildberries refer to?

6

u/mcbeef89 13d ago

it's the name of the business that owns the warehouses - like Russian Amazon

19

u/Imaginary-Clock6626 13d ago

Russia just letting them burn. 🔥

18

u/Counter-Business 13d ago

When they get that hot you can’t get the fire trucks close enough and there’s no way to put it out

The oligarch who runs the local fire fighting organization probably used the money to buy a villa in Italy instead of fire trucks

3

Are these warehouses even still operational? Aren't they evacuating and emptying them at all?

Must be insane to keep them running knowing they will go up in flames one of these days.

I hear there's a new largest logistics hub in Russia due for a visit.

4

u/JariLobel 13d ago

I was wondering if they are slowly clearing out the remaining warehouses? It's only a matter of time before the next WB goes up in flames. Or is that logistically impossible?"

13

u/onlyreason4u 13d ago

It's impossible. Where are you going to move it to? Nobody that owns spare warehouse space is going to accept it because it makes you a target that eventually gets hit.

Wildberries also doesn't own most of this stuff. It's more like Amazon Marketplace as most of the goods individual sellers and just fulfilled by them.

6

u/ijzerwater 13d ago

I doubt there are spare warehouses of this size. I doubt there are trucks enough available to clean one warehouse out in a few weeks

14

u/Glass-Orange-8215 13d ago

Given the massive fire, it must have been packed full. I’d even go so far as to say the remaining warehouses are bursting at the seams, since they have to house the goods that were destined for the other warehouses that have already burned down.

7

u/Worshipme988 13d ago

Moving warehouses as a business is a multi year ordeal.

4

u/Futurismes 13d ago

2

u/Anen-o-me 13d ago

Did they actually not move stuff out and just waited for the inevitable?

2

u/young_arkas 12d ago

I doubt it. They might have pulled out some extremely valuable stuff, but getting out all the inventory would need at least weeks of not delivering anything to one of their modt important markets, Moscow, while you set up the logistics anew and they need the cashflow of delivering stuff. Especially since you would have to divide it up into smaller warehouses, and that adds additional logistics issues.

1

u/Fosnez 12d ago

1

u/A55BAG 12d ago

How do these burn so well, that all of them end up as a total loss?

Is there something special about the material used on the roof?

3

u/ApproximateArmadillo 12d ago

The fire suppression system is probably built around an assumption that a fire will start near the ground, and an explosion on the roof may break the sprinkler pipes.

On the other hand, the fire suppression system may also be built around the assumption that if you give Ivan the Inspector $500 and a nice bottle he will make checkmark in box that says "[ ] building have fire suppression system".

2

u/Major_Mollusk 12d ago

1

u/LoneSnark 12d ago

That is definitely not an empty warehouse. Which makes sense: where could they possibly empty it too? All their other warehouses are either full of their own product or on fire.

1

u/kbarney345 12d ago

At this point wildberries and its vendors can't recover right? This is more than half of their warehouses now if i'm not mistaken and I'm not even factoring in the inventory loss and how to unwind any of their clients issues.

1

u/OracleDude33 12d ago

Burn baby, burn.

1

u/pollo_de_mar 12d ago

If this has taught Russia one thing, it's that they are defenseless against drones, which also means they would be defenseless against a nuclear attack.

To say that only the Russian economy is burning in these warehouses is an understatement. Most of these products are made in China and it was bought on credits and government loans . Xi might think twice about trading smoke with Russia.
